You use pretty classical names so I would stick with that and not worry too much about the Biblical part.
A name like [name_m]George[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m] would fit right in with [name_m]Paul[/name_m], [name_m]Mark[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] even though not Biblical. Going with [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] or [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] or [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] would be far more jarring.
[name_m]Paul[/name_m], [name_m]Mark[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] are such timeless classic names that it isn’t even overly noticeable that they share the biblical theme. Any classic name you pick would fit right in with the siblings.
I agree with PP’s, I think of your name choices as timeless classics before my mind goes to Biblical. [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], et c. would all fit right in. I’m all for using names you love, even if they break the theme.
Cool, thanks everyone. Interesting to see [name_m]Henry[/name_m] mentioned twice because that’s the very name that I’d like to use. I had pushed for it when I was pregnant with [name_u]James[/name_u] but my husband wouldn’t go for it. Now that we’ve used a few of his favorites he seems more open to it.
I agree with the others.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] would be wonderful with your children’s’ names.
I think you’re fine to break the theme. You said “obviously” your boys have [name_m]New[/name_m] Testament names but I don’t find it obvious at all. I’m not religious but am semi-familiar with the bible and those names are common enough that if someone said “find the theme” I’d have to think for some time.
It may be noticeable to people in bible studies who a) know you as a religious family and b) know the [name_m]New[/name_m] Testament quite well but to the general public I don’t think itwould be obvious at all.
The names you’ve chosen are so classic and well used that I think people will think ‘classic/traditional’ long before they realise they’re all biblical. The fact your girls names aren’t biblical helps this too. Any classic name like [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Harry[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m] would fit it. Have you considered [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]Luke[/name_m] or [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]? It seems like a stupid question since they are all quite obvious new testament names but I thought I’d ask as I think they’re great names which would suit your sibset perfectly.
As long as you don’t go all modern and trendy ;), it is fine. Classic [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] will fit beautifully.
I don’t think anyone would notice skipping the biblical trend unless it’s something really different like Tavien or [name_m]Diego[/name_m].
What about [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]? It’s classic, biblical, and another longer name to balance out [name_f]Katherine[/name_f].
Biblical names I think would fit well (OT & NT):
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] (and they balance [name_f]Katharine[/name_f])
non-Biblical names that I think go well:
[name_m]Eric[/name_m], [name_m]Richard[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] with your kiddos!
If we do use a Biblical name it’s very likely to be [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is one of my son’s middle names and [name_m]Luke[/name_m] is my [name_m]BIL[/name_m]. We could possibly use [name_m]Luke[/name_m] still but my husband feels a bit odd about it.
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is actually my nephew’s name.
Thanks for the suggestions. [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] doesn’t sound that great with our last name (same problem for [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] actually). My husband is [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] so [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] isn’t really an option.
