I came off the pill in [name_u]January[/name_u] so I’ve been ttc about 7 months. My cycle is very irregular, usually between 22-30 days. I always get excited to get ovulation pains because it means we have another chance to make our little bean. The thing is though, apart from when I’m on my period and have period pains, I seem to have what feels like ovulation pains all cycle round.
It’s always in the left side with the occasional milder pain in the right. It’s not extremely painful but it is very annoying and I just want to curl up in bed and clutch it. I’m worried I have something wrong that could also be affecting my fertility. Shall I get this checked out? Any idea what it could be? Who would I speak to, just my GP? Thanks berries!
I don’t know how helpful I’ll be, especially being from the US, but I’ll add some input. When I first had ovarian cramps, I didn’t know what they were, so my GP sent me for an ultrasound just to check out what was going on. I’m sure a gynecologist would do the same thing because they need to pinpoint the cause of the issue. I’d go to whatever appointment you can get first.
You don’t want to wait until the pain gets worse, especially if it’s something that might need medicine or hormones to fix/fight. The fact that you are having it throughout your cycle is a red flag to me, pain is not normal. It’s important to go find out what it is, where it is, and what is happening. [name_m]Even[/name_m] a cyst can cause major problems, especially if you have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) or endometriosis, both of which can impact fertility.
I hope I didn’t scare you or anything. Prevention and being proactive is better than looking back in hindsight and wishing you went earlier. I hope it’s nothing serious.
I would definitely recommend speaking to your GP about it.
I would contact your OBGYN or GP about it as soon as possible. Pain isn’t normal throughout your entire cycle. It might just be a cyst or you may have some kind of condition. You should be able to get an ultrasound done to rule out any cysts or even an ectopic pregnancy. I wish you lots of luck!
The fact that you have irregular cycles makes me think you might have PCOS. The pain when you ovulate is likely a cyst popping. Women with PCOS can have multiple cysts on their ovaries. I have PCOS, but luckily can’t feel when my cycsts pop despite having multiple on each ovary.
We tried for 6 months before finally seeing a doctor about my irregular cycles, 3 months after that I was finally able to get pregnant. Took a diet and exercise change, but so worth it! I got a positive test a few days before I was going to start clomid too! She’s our miracle baby
