I would love to honour the memory of DH’s grandma [name_u]Connie[/name_u] ([name_f]Constance[/name_f]), but I’m not loving these names as they are.
Suggestions on nn, diminuitives, etc. appreciated.
Is it for a first name or middle?
[name_u]Connie[/name_u]/[name_f]Constance[/name_f] variations, nn’s:
[name_m]Connor[/name_m] for a middle or [name_u]Connelly[/name_u] as a mn.
[name_f]Dilys[/name_f] / Dylis means steadfast, so that could be a quirky and unexpected middle name. It means true as well, but since [name_f]Constance[/name_f] means steadfast, it could work.
Consetta or [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] would likely be for a mn.
Another idea I’m debating is the name [name_f]Lilac[/name_f]. [name_u]Connie[/name_u] had a huge garden full of these trees, so they are very tied to her memory - although the other side of the fam is allergic
I have [name_f]Constance[/name_f] on my list as an honor name possibility for an [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], because some translations say that the meaning of [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] is “Steadfast.” I also have Iselda, which means, “She who remains faithful,” and while that isn’t exact, I think it embodies the meaning.
I think flowers and other things that remind you of your family member are nice ways of honoring them. My mom doesn’t like her own name, so I used her favorite flower as my daughter’s nn instead.
I was already considering [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] for a boy. I hadn’t connected the meanings. Thanks saracita00 !
Sounds perfect, then!
[name_f]Annie[/name_f] would be my favorite nn. I’m not a huge [name_u]Connie[/name_u] or [name_f]Constance[/name_f] fan, either, but I think [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is pretty fantastic! I think [name_f]Constantina[/name_f] would be gorgeous, as well, and could honor a [name_f]Constance[/name_f] really well.
Oh, that reminds me. I also thought of Caty as a nn for [name_f]Constance[/name_f], and someone else suggested [name_u]Stacy[/name_u] and [name_u]Cato[/name_u].
