If you forgot about the association and just thought of the sound, the mythology, what do you think of…
[name_f]Isis[/name_f]?
I love [name_f]Isis[/name_f]! The sound is so spunky, it’s fresh, short, and the goddess brings it such a great vibe. If only…
I’ll be honest, I have a really hard time shaking the association— I know at least in my area it would make the name 100% unusable. I’m drawn to the mythology aspect of it, but all in all I prefer the similar but less controversial [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. Or [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]…
I know a couple of girls name [name_f]Isis[/name_f] because the name was pretty popular for awhile in my culture (before the association, I remember meeting a girl two years younger than me and than a girl my age), I love the name so it’s a shame it’s become unusable
pretending like the association doesn’t exist…
It’s beautiful! I love the old, mythology feel and quirky sound.
It is a very pretty name
Isis was one of my favourite names as a child (I loved everything ancient Egyptian!).
The negative connotations it’s acquired in the last decade are so unfortunate. I don’t understand why the Western media called them “ISIS” when they don’t even call themselves that. It stigmatized women and girls who have [name_f]Isis[/name_f] as their actual name.
It’s a lovely name, it’s a shame it’s unusable now.
I love how it sounds, lively and spunky! Great mythological namesake. I would consider using it ~sigh~
[name_m]Even[/name_m] putting the association aside, I still don’t really enjoy the sound of it.
Its a shame as it’s a nice name but the association is too strong for me.
I love the mythological association. [name_f]Isis[/name_f] was one of my favourite goddesses growing up, when I was really into mythology! I think it has a beautiful sound, and I prefer it to [name_f]Iris[/name_f].
I think that it could be usable again someday. But that will definitely take time.
I honestly really like it! I think it would make a great alternative to [name_f]Iris[/name_f] if not for the unfortunate association that I don’t think will ever allow this name to be usable irl. But it has a great sound – definitely a gp of mine.
Isis is beautiful.
I also love [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Ismene[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Ismay[/name_f], etc.
I wouldn’t let thugs and terrorists take over a name if I loved it.
I like [name_f]Isis[/name_f] actually, but I pronounce is ee-sees, not i-sis. Maybe opt for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Taisiya[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] instead though!
xx
I ADORE [name_f]Isis[/name_f]!!! I just wish the negative associations weren’t there.
Forgetting the association (which is overpowering), it’s not really my style, but nice enough.
It’s so pretty. I remember sitting in history class ages ago, learning about the great Egyptian goddess [name_f]Isis[/name_f], and I thought: What a cool name.
Now, sadly, I can’t ever use it.
Isis is beautiful.
And it is usable! No one is going to see a little girl being named [name_f]Isis[/name_f] and automatically think that she works for a nefarious organization. People have named their kids after shotguns ([name_u]Remington[/name_u]) or gave them names like [name_m]Gunner[/name_m] and no one assumes that those children are violent shooters.
