I’m a relief teacher, so I come across kids with all sorts of names. This is a list of kids I taught today who had the most interesting names. I think these are all pretty cool…
Amos
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_m]Armand[/name_m]
Cordelia
[name_f]Emanuela[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
Kingsley
Lael
[name_f]Mairead[/name_f]
[name_f]Marie[/name_f]-[name_f]Louise[/name_f]
Prudence
[name_m]Roman[/name_m]
[name_f]Simona[/name_f]
[name_m]Stefano[/name_m]
Tabitha

Edit - Some smashing names on Year 12s (seniors) at the school I teach at:
Angelique
Aric (pronounced Eric)
Ciaran
Dirk
Gideon
Immanuella
Jacques
Leroy
Maren
Matthias
Wow, I love [name_m]Armand[/name_m]!
By the way, is a relief teacher the same as a substitute teacher? I don’t know if they have different names over there
Oh yeah, a relief is a sub! By the way, [name_m]Armand[/name_m]'s two older brothers are named [name_m]Jacques[/name_m] and Jandre.
[name_m]Ah[/name_m]! [name_m]Armand[/name_m] is such a wonderful name! And [name_m]Jacques[/name_m] too! But is Jandre the other brother’s name, or is that a typo for [name_u]Andre[/name_u]?
[name_f]Emanuela[/name_f] is a name I love but almost never hear. Very pretty.
[name_m]Armand[/name_m] makes me swoon. (: I think it’s mostly because of [name_m]Antonio[/name_m] Banderas…
@chrisco - No, Jandre is not a typo. I know, it’s a bit weird. They pronounce it like [name_u]Andre[/name_u] with a J (jon-dray).
I so wish [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] didn’t have the connotations it does here in the US. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name.
[name_f]EDIT[/name_f] - Added a few more from today!
@dindlee - I’ve taught three Jemimas in the past two days. It’s quite popular in Australia, but, yes, doesn’t have the same connotations as in [name_u]America[/name_u]. Here people only think of [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] Puddle Duck!
Or with [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] the doll from play school which is one of the reasons I love it but can’t use it. Their are three [name_f]Simona[/name_f]'s in my school and I love [name_m]Matthias[/name_m].
I’m very fond of [name_f]Emanuela[/name_f] and Immanuella. I wouldn’t have thought I could get away with those here in [name_m]Oz[/name_m] so that’s encouraging. [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] and [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] I love too but don’t surprise me as much. [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] is unexpected but kind of cool.
I do love [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]. And [name_m]Amos[/name_m], and, though it’s unlike my usual style, something’s appealing about [name_m]Kingsley[/name_m].
I have loved [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] for 3 or 4 years, and about a year ago i discovered [name_m]Kingsley[/name_m]. [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] for a boy, [name_m]Kingsley[/name_m] being unisex
[name_f]Prudence[/name_f] is a brave choice!
