I’m literally in love with [name_u]Scout[/name_u] for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
A girl named [name_f]Charlene[/name_f] that went exclusively by [name_m]Chuck[/name_m]! I’m surprised that @GreenEyes375 knew a girl who goes by it too
Also, a girl named [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], so her friends gave her the nickname [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
Both are millennials
Okay, I love [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] for [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] - that’s literally awesome!! And makes a lot of sense too.
@shanade213 - [name_u]Scout[/name_u] for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is really cool as well!!
Honestly, sisters [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] known as [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_u]Scout[/name_u] would be amazing
I think I’m in love
I love [name_u]Charles[/name_u] “Archie” - think it works as a [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] alternative.
Agreed! I never met her, but my friend was telling me about her years ago. I loved it! I actually had Ellis (standalone) as a top girl name for a while because of that (and where I lived, I hadn’t heard of it as a man’s name either). Now Ellis is actually our top contender for our baby boy due in a few months haha, and it’s still because of that connection my friend told me about 9 years ago haha
Oh two more ‘Kloe’ for [name_u]America[/name_u] & Pep for [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
And Twitch for [name_m]Richard[/name_m]
Here are some less-than-intuitive and just interesting nicknames in my life!
Meirav “Ravi” and “Miru”
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] “Mia”
[name_u]Iman[/name_u] “Mani”
[name_f]Rachel[/name_f] “Raykay”
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] “Sina”
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] “Solo”
I also know several people who have surname related nicknames! For example, my friend’s last name starts with the syllable fog-, so everyone calls her Foggy.
In my family tree there are two sisters, [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f], who went by [name_f]Ida[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]!
[name_u]Jesse[/name_u] who went by “Yoshi” full time
Wow! I love those!!
[name_f]Monique[/name_f] who went by Mooch
[name_u]Pim[/name_u] is a traditional [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] nickname for [name_m]Willem[/name_m]. The dad of one of my friend’s is named this.
another!! meredith “murph”
I thought of 2 more! I know a woman whose name is something like ‘Kloe Tamara’ (not her exact name for privacy) and she goes by [name_f]Katie[/name_f] (K.T.) and I just met a little girl at the park today named [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] who went by [name_f]Judy[/name_f]
So the family of one of my former classmates all have very formal latinized names – [name_u]Christian[/name_u] names in the truest sense that you don’t see much anymore if ever. To paint a picture of the overall style, one of the men has the middle names Bonifatius [name_u]Maria[/name_u].
One of the brother’s first name is Gregorius, but he goes by [name_m]Joris[/name_m] (YO-riss, which is a variation of George). The other is named [name_m]Joannes[/name_m] (again with the J making the Y sound) and goes by [name_f]Yanah[/name_f].
Okay, but honestly, those names are super cool!
Definitely in GP territory for me, but I love those really old [name_u]Christian[/name_u] names.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] the people enjoy living with them on a day to day basis?
[name_u]Beckett[/name_u] “Kit” is my favorite rn!
They really are quite incredible! There is a reason why I remember a high school classmates brothers’ names years later, even only having only interacted with her not them (separate boys schools and girls schools). I also admit to finding their family tree online at looking there for name inspo as I needed to know what the full combos were after hearing her full name (which is more tame by comparison) and her brothers’ firsts.
I feel like day to day, they used nicknames near exclusively. So I’m not sure to what extent they actually are relevant day to day? The person with the middle names Bonifatius [name_u]Maria[/name_u] is actually her dad, and he chose to name a kid Gregorius, so I assume he must’ve liked the old [name_u]Christian[/name_u] names enough to pass on the tradition into the 21st century.
[name_f]Malva[/name_f] nn [name_m]Elvis[/name_m]. It went [name_f]Malva[/name_f] → Melvis → [name_m]Elvis[/name_m]
