Cora or Cordelia?

We are getting closer to finally choosing a girl’s name! I love both [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name]. With [name]Cordelia[/name] we could use [name]Cora[/name] as a nickname but my husband can never seem to remember [name]Cordelia[/name] haha. He always says “what’s our girl’s name again” and he seems to be gravitating towards [name]Cora[/name] on it’s own. I’m a fan of names with nicknames but both names are on my list.

Last name is [name]Flann[/name]. Brother’s name is [name]Oliver[/name].

Which one do you prefer?

Thanks

I prefer [name]Cordelia[/name]. But I do love [name]Cora[/name]. What about [name]Coralie[/name]?

I think you should go with [name]Cordelia[/name] that way you get both! When she’s born, your husband will remember her name!

With [name]Oliver[/name], I like [name]Cora[/name] better. [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] are lovely for siblings. However, I think [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Flann[/name] sounds a bit better than [name]Cora[/name] [name]Flann[/name], because the longer [name]Cordelia[/name] balances out the shorter [name]Flann[/name]. I don’t know if you’re open to it or not, but I think [name]Coralie[/name] would be a happy medium–I think [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Coralie[/name] are great as siblings, and the longer [name]Coralie[/name] sounds really good with the short [name]Flann[/name].

Good luck!

Hmm…tough choice! [name]Both[/name] are really nice, and if your husband isn’t quite into [name]Cordelia[/name], you can’t go wrong with [name]Cora[/name]. That said, I’m sure he’d remember the name if you ended up choosing it  Another option could be [name]Coraline[/name], which is really pretty and would still get to [name]Cora[/name] as nickname.

Oh, and all four of these choices would go well with [name]Oliver[/name], I think! I think [name]Cora[/name] goes least well with your last name though. It’s certainly not bad, and would not be problematic if you choose it, but I think the longer names work better with the one-syllable surname.

I personally prefer [name]Cora[/name] by itself but I like [name]Cordelia[/name] as well.
For longer versions I prefer [name]Coralie[/name], [name]Coraline[/name], and [name]Corinna[/name]

I’d say [name]Cora[/name] with [name]Oliver[/name], but love the suggestion of [name]Coralie[/name] too.

Thanks for all the input! I agree with [name]Cora[/name] being too short to paired with [name]Flann[/name]. I do prefer [name]Cordelia[/name] to [name]Coralie[/name], [name]Coraline[/name], and [name]Corinna[/name] etc but they are all lovely names too. I will certainly run them by my husband to see if he prefers them

I really like [name]Cora[/name], its very pretty and feminine. Sorry, but [name]Cordelia[/name], I don’t like at all, too many syllables to get your tongue around.

I like [name]Cora[/name].

I like the above suggestions of [name]Coralie[/name] & [name]Coraline[/name]!

I always like a longer name with a cute, catchy nn. I’d go with either the regal [name]Cordelia[/name] or the lovely, spritely [name]Coraline[/name].

My vote is for [name]Cora[/name]. Beautiful name.
