I am trying to brainstorm some name possibilities after finding out we are expecting another girl a few weeks ago! We have a daughter named [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f].
Here’s what we have thus far:
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]- I’m really pushing for this one. It’s a family name that will need to be incorporated somehow- if not as the first name, then as a middle
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
It’s not much but I was hoping for some suggestions. Here’s some that we can’t use:
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
From your list, I like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Are you opposed to using [name_u]Josie[/name_u] as a first? I love the sound of [name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]. [name_u]Josie[/name_u] might open up possibilities that would be a mouthful with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]! I have it on my list as [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] You actually have a few of my favourites there - [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] & [name_f]Claire[/name_f] - so maybe you’ll like some of these?
I think that [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a bit too long to use as a first name as a sister to [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. I would use it as a middle name.
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]/[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Meline[/name_f]
[name_f]Melina[/name_f]
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f]
[name_f]Siena[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
I like the suggestion of using [name_u]Josie[/name_u] if that’s possible…
[name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_f]Willa[/name_f] or [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] are wonderful together! [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a more flowing name than many people seem to think - there’s no “clunk” to it at all in the [name_m]French[/name_m] accent, and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is a substantial and weighty name.
It also makes a wonderful middle name. I’ve suggested [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]/[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be a stunning name. Plus the nickname possibilities are endless.
I also love [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and think [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is one of most beautiful, classic names you can get.
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Violette[/name_f] (as in vee-yo-LETTE)
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_u]Marion[/name_u]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]May[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrina[/name_f]
I would say [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f], as a sister to [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f].
Second choice would be [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] because I love both of these names, and I think both [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] capture the same feeling I get with [name_f]Cora[/name_f]: vintage and elegant, but also something more contemporary and energetic to it. But I think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] sound a little better as first names together than [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. I don’t think you need to have the same number of syllables or the same ending to have names “match” and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] just have a similar feeling to me, and seem to flow off the tongue when said together.
The first name to occur to me when reading your daughter’s beautiful name was [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] (or [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]), followed by [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. I really like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] from your list, but due to length in comparison to [name_f]Cora[/name_f], I would use it as a middle name.
