What are your opinions on the name [name]Corbett[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you think this works as a first name? I look forward to hearing your opinions!
I like the meaning, don’t like the sound, but I do think it would work perfectly fine as a first name. It sounds similar to lots of other boy names, so you really shouldn’t have any issues.
Not a fan sorry. It sounds kinda harsh to me.
I know several people with this last name. I didn’t know it was a first name … and I’m sorry, but I can’t really imagine it working. Maybe as a middle if it’s a family name?
This is the name of the governor of Pennsylvania and he sucks. I can’t remove myself from that association, so I can’t really give a fair assessment of the name.
lol, that was my first thought, too. Since I’ve been so immersed in my college studies in the past five or so years, I really have no clue what he stands for or what he’s done (unfortunately), but that was my first thought.
I think [name]Corbin[/name] is a lot better, personally.
I know a woman named that so when I hear it it reminds me of her. Not so much for a boys name.
I like the sound, even though it reminds me of [name]India[/name]'s [name]Corbett[/name] National [name]Park[/name], named for the big game hunter [name]Jim[/name] [name]Corbett[/name]. Actually, I know next to nothing about him, and Wikipedia makes him sound pretty upstanding so maybe it’s not a negative association after all. Anyway, I’m surprised [name]Corbett[/name] isn’t more popular; e.g., I find it far more appealing than [name]Beckett[/name].
I’ve never had experience with it being a ln, so thinking of it as a fn is very easy for me. I actually have No association to it whatsoever. And it feels very “boy” to me. Though, I do like [name]Corbin[/name] as well, which the site lists as having the same meaning and being more user friendly. If you much prefer [name]Corbett[/name] to [name]Corbin[/name], I think it would fit in well with the ln as a fn category that’s very popular.
I’m drawn to most Hard-C names and I think it’s lovely.
I too know it as a surname, but think it could very easily make the jump to the first name spot. As @thompssn said, the hard-C names are popular now, and the -ett ending is really coming in ([name]Everett[/name], [name]Bennett[/name], [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Rhett[/name]…). It sounds “namey” and won’t strike anyone as unusual, even if they’ve never heard it before.
I actually had a friend named [name]Corbett[/name] in elementary school in the 70’s. I always assumed it was his mother’s maiden name. (His little sister was much more conventionally named: [name]Sally[/name]). I think it worked for him.
I don’t know this as a last name, but knew one [name]Corbett[/name]. He was my roomates boyfriend in college, and I thought of him as this cute, younger brother type. He was really smart too so I [name]LOVE[/name] this name. And I usually don’t like these kinds of names, but I love [name]Corbett[/name]. Not [name]Corbin[/name] though.
I really like [name]Corbett[/name]. It’s on my long list and I think it works great as a boys name. I prefer it over the more common [name]Corbin[/name].
