What are your thoughts on [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]?
It used to be on my list a long time ago, but I took it off because I don’t like any of the nicknames. [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_u]Cory[/name_u], [name_f]Coco[/name_f], [name_u]Del[/name_u], [name_f]Delia[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordy[/name_f] all don’t appeal to me. I prefer no nickname, but if I had to choose I would probably go with [name_f]Dia[/name_f] or [name_f]Ria[/name_f]. I don’t mind stretchy nicknames.
I adore [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]! It’s firmly in my girl’s top ten. It has just the right amount of elegance and mystery, and it’s familiar without being common. I think it’s striking.
I adore [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], and I’m also not a fan of any of the traditional nicknames for it. I like it with nickname [name_f]Clio[/name_f], which is a bit of a stretch, but I think is doable
I love the name [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]! One of my favorite names. Maybe [name_f]Dee[/name_f] for a nickname? Personally I like [name_f]Delia[/name_f].
I think it’s lovely, although I don’t understand why a lot of people love it on Nameberry. I see the appeal, but not that much of an appeal. If you were to ever use it on a child I doubt you could escape all the easy nicknames ([name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Delia[/name_f] for two, maybe [name_f]Cordy[/name_f] too when she’s young). I know a [name_f]Carmelia[/name_f] and this name feels the same to me, and I like her name. I find the [name_m]Cord[/name_m]- beginning quite harsh but it’s definitely wearable.
I love it. My nearly six year old’s name is [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. We’ve never met another [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], though we do know a [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. People constantly tell me what a great name she has. I like this it suited her as a baby, sounds cute on a child, and will work in adulthood. I think that’s important.
Also to add, no one calls her anything but [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. That’s what we call her (I was worried about [name_u]Cory[/name_u]) and so does everyone else.
I also adore [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], but - in a similar way to you it sounds - it keeps falling from my first choice of names because of my lack of love for its nn’s. But, @jenrenea, that’s great to hear! Maybe that shouldn’t be such a deterrent after all!
