Cordelia?

I love [name_u]Cory[/name_u]/[name_f]Corie[/name_f] for a little girl. I am trying to find a full name that allows for [name_u]Cory[/name_u]/[name_f]Corie[/name_f] to be the nickname.

I like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] but not sure I love it.

Any suggestions?

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] has such a sweet, strong, Shakespearean charm.

But, then again, it starts with ‘cord’ and that’s what stops me from loving it.

What are your thoughts on…

[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f]
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f]

I don’t really like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]… I just think of Cordelius which I also don’t like! Sorry.

[name_f]Coral[/name_f] would probably be my preferred way to reach [name_f]Cori[/name_f]/[name_u]Cory[/name_u].

I think [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] is lovely and underused, and I love [name_f]Coretta[/name_f].

I also like [name_f]Cora[/name_f]/[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]/[name_f]Coraline[/name_f], and I like [name_f]Delia[/name_f], but [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] always sounds a bit fussy to me. I don’t dislike it, I just can’t warm up to it the way I’d expect considering how much I like similar names. I actually like the sound of [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] a bit better, but the “corn” beginning is probably a dealbreaker for a lot of people.

This is funny. We named our unborn daughter [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], wishing passionately she could have been born, but at least glad she would never be nicknamed [name_u]Cory[/name_u] or [name_f]Cordy[/name_f].

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] better? Or [name_f]Coral[/name_f]?

I know what you mean about [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. I feel different about [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] though… What do you think?

There’s also:
[name_f]Corrine[/name_f]
[name_m]Corwin[/name_m] (NB says it’s a boy’s name, but I know a little girl named [name_m]Corwin[/name_m])
[name_f]Corabel[/name_f]
Coriander
[name_f]Cordula[/name_f]
[name_f]Corinna[/name_f]
[name_f]Coretta[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Coryssa[/name_f]

Thoughts on these? [name_u]Cory[/name_u] is super cute on a little girl! Good luck!

I love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]! It feels so elegant, sophisticated and strong to me. But here are some other names that could lead to the nickname [name_u]Cory[/name_u]/[name_f]Corie[/name_f]:

[name_f]Corliss[/name_f]
[name_f]Corisande[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
Codrina
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] (at a stretch… it has the letters C, O and R in the right order)

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is fine but I prefer [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]!

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] always has seemed overly frilly and fussy to me, and interchangeable with [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] or [name_f]Corinna[/name_f] to get to [name_f]Corie[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], but it is such romantic name it’s impossible not to love it. Other suggestions, [name_f]Coral[/name_f] and [name_f]Corinna[/name_f].
