My husband and I want a name for our baby girl on the way that is not trendy and not popular. We like both these names: [name]Corinne[/name] (2nd syllable pronounced “in”) and [name]Holland[/name]. [name]Corinne[/name]'s nickname would likely be [name]Cora[/name]. [name]Holland[/name]'s nickname would likely be [name]Holly[/name]. But I’d really like to focus on the full/proper name here. Which do you like better?
My favorite is [name]Corinne[/name] [name]Autumn[/name] [name]Grace[/name], because I think it flows the best, but since you love the name [name]Holland[/name], I would do [name]Corinne[/name] [name]Holland[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I prefer [name]Corinne[/name] as a first name over [name]Holland[/name] because [name]Holland[/name] will forever be associated with a location, whereas [name]Corinne[/name] will more easily be associated with a person. The -land ending in [name]Holland[/name] makes it decidedly a place rather than a girl. I do like the sound of the word, but I would recommend maybe [name]Hollis[/name] instead of [name]Holland[/name] if you wanted to go that route. [name]Corinne[/name] is beautiful.
ooo I know it’s not one of your combo’s but I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Holland[/name] [name]Autumn[/name] [name]Grace[/name], love love love. [name]Holly[/name] is adorable and I would also argue that the short ‘o’ sound in [name]Holly[/name] ages very well and makes a sophisticated nn for an adult woman too.
I prefer [name]Holland[/name]. I have a soft spot for this name My high school sweetheart’s name was [name]Holland[/name] and it’s actually what made me like him in the first place – such a cool name!! It was actually his grandmother’s maiden name. He was never teased for it being a place name. While I associate it as a boy’s name because of this, I think it would be incredibly sweet on a girl.
My favorite - by a long shot - is [name]Corinne[/name] [name]Autumn[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. It’s beautiful!
I am not fond of [name]Holland[/name]. For one thing, people who have not met her, would not know whether to address her (in mail or phone messages) as Mr. or Ms. since the gender is unclear. That can be awkward for everyone. (Or, more likely, in those circumstances, she’ll be addressed as “Mr.”)
I really like both names but would vote for [name]Corinne[/name] [name]Holland[/name] [name]Grace[/name] because it has such a timeless elegance. I also do prefer the sweetness of the nn [name]Cora[/name] over the more common and dated nn [name]Holly[/name].
If you don’t want “trendy”, then I would avoid a place name like [name]Holland[/name]. Place names are trendy. Another reason not to use [name]Holland[/name] as a first name: I don’t think it would flow well with your “L” surname.
I like [name]Corinne[/name] [name]Autumn[/name] [name]Grace[/name] would be lovely!
[name]Corinne[/name] [name]Holland[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is really nice. I like the nickname [name]Holly[/name] much better than [name]Cora[/name], but I prefer [name]Corinne[/name] to [name]Holland[/name]. So I would choose [name]Corinne[/name] [name]Holland[/name] [name]Grace[/name].
Thanks, everyone, for writing in! I value your insights…you’re able to look at these names from a different perspective. It’s so hard for my husband and i to step back and decide
