Cormac

Does [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] sound too redundant with a Mc- last name? I took it off our list because I thought the two “mac” sounds wouldn’t work together. But, I just realized the character in [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] has a Mc- last name, and it never struck me as sounding odd. What do you think?

Yes, [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] McLaggen! I never thought it sounded odd either. I think it could work, and [name_f]Maura[/name_f] and [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] is a darling sibling set.

[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] is fantastic, and on my list.

For me personally it would be too many macs in one name but I think it wouldn’t be totally unusable.

Well, there’s [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] [name_u]McCarthy[/name_u], the author - sounds fine to me!

[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] is a fab name, I’d do it.

I’m sure there are plenty of [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] Mc------'s in the world (well, in one country in particular). I would probably choose to avoid it, personally, but I would think much of it if I met one. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_m]Conrad[/name_m], or [name_m]Callum[/name_m], or [name_m]Conall[/name_m]? [name_m]Conall[/name_m] Mc------ would be grand.

Not a fan if [name_m]Conrad[/name_m]. I have trouble saying the two Ms together in [name_m]Callum[/name_m] Mc_____. [name_m]Conall[/name_m] is okay, but I like [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] a lot better.

So, it just occurred to me that [name_f]Maura[/name_f] and [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] sounds a little bit like [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] McCormick ([name_f]Marsha[/name_f], [name_f]Marsha[/name_f], [name_f]Marsha[/name_f]!)…maybe it’s not such a good idea to use them in the same sibset. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s noticeable? What if there were other siblings in between them (there are other names on our list that we would prioritize before [name_m]Cormac[/name_m])?
