Our darling baby boy was born at 06:05 a.m. [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u] morning, and the moment we saw him we knew he was the love of our lives. His daddy made it just in time to witness him being born and was one of the first people to hold him.
Fortunately, there were no complications, and we were discharged from the hospital within a day, so we’ve had a plenty of time to get to know him. He’s the most precious little thing and looks so much like his sister when she was a baby, with lots of soft hair and bright blue eyes. Oh, and as for his sister, [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] has decided he’s her very favorite plaything - she just wants to hold him and look at him and kiss him all of the time, and so do I!
I got so carried away talking about him that I almost forgot to announce his name! [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] Faramir is what we eventually went with.
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] is a Greek name of [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Keats[/name_u] fame. In the original myth, he was a young hunter considered to be one of the most beautiful of all mortals. The moon goddess [name_f]Selene[/name_f] fell in love with him and asked [name_m]Zeus[/name_m] to grant him eternal life. [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] is the subject of several poems (with my favorite being the one by [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] Wilde), as well as paintings and books. Since our son is a [name_f]May[/name_f] day baby, we wanted a [name_m]Robert[/name_m] Plant name as I can’t help but associate him with the [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m], and [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] is definitely the most [name_m]Robert[/name_m] Plant name in the world.
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is a Greek name, too, but it’s also a word for a book of maps. In mythology, it was the name of a [name_m]Titan[/name_m] holding up the sky, a king of Mauretania and a legendary king of [name_f]Atlantis[/name_f], so it surely is a name with a lot of responsibility. We like that [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is also associated with travel, and it’s a nice link to our daughter who has a word middle name, too.
Faramir was my husband’s pick, as The [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings was the book his mother would often read to him and his brother when they were children. In the book, Faramir was a brave and honest man of gentle nature and a great warrior - a wonderful role model for any child and one of my husband’s favorite characters — he was so excited about this name that I just couldn’t say no!
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] Faramir is a whole lotta name and probably a bit over the top, but we love it and it suits our son to a T. We even have “[name_f]Kashmir[/name_f]” as our special song for him because his name makes me think of these beautiful lyrics.
Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face
And stars fill my dreams
I’m a traveler of both time and space
To be where I have been…
We’re so thrilled with our little [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] and have never been happier! Thanks to all the lovely berries for your help, you’re the best!
