I personally would go with [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]- it’s a time-honored classic, sounds so similar, and the spelling and pronunciation are straight forward.

Yup, never heard of this name at all, so you’ll have to pronounce it for most people, I’d expect. But Eddin will hopefully get you closer to the pronunciation you’re looking for.

If you want ed-in, then I’d definitely go with Eddin. I see [name_f]Edin[/name_f] and immediate think eed-in. Also, [name_f]Edin[/name_f] to me reads like a combo of [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u]–a girly name and also not the pronunciation you want.

However, I have to second a pp’s suggestion of [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]. It’s super close in pronunciation to Eddin and won’t cause confusion.

[name_f]Edin[/name_f], like [name_f]Edin[/name_f] Dzeko. Where do you live? Anywhere near Manchester and people aren’t going to have a problem

Exactly! That’s how I got the name idea. Unfortunately, I live in [name_u]America[/name_u] so it probably wouldn’t be obvious for most people.

I know an [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and agree with pps its a good alternative , I’ve never heard this name it would be a tough name, spelling won’t matter best bet of you’re set on it is Edden or Eddin neither of your spellings put enough emphasis on [name_m]Ed[/name_m] they draw out in which isn’t where the problem is

Other options would be [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] or [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]?

[RIGHT][/RIGHT]

I would not go with [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] if you’re looking for something easy to pronounce. As far as the original question, I’d say that Eddin is likely to get better results as far as pronunciation goes, but I’m going to recommend against that as a name.

I would definitely go with Eddin- [name_f]Edin[/name_f] is bound to be mispronounced as [name_u]Eden[/name_u], even though I clearly see the Edinburgh connection. Eddin eliminates that possibility, and I think this spelling looks pretty spunky too. I really like it.

I agree with beardless and would not go with [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]. It’s a nice name but it would be hard for people to pronounce. [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is an ok name but I don’t like it as much as [name_f]Edin[/name_f].

[name_u]Edin[/name_u] is my favorites
