Corrina?

I love the names [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Corinne[/name], but I’m having a hard time feeling like they are complete names on their own. I adore the movie “[name]Corrina[/name], [name]Corrina[/name]”, and love this name as an alternative, but haven’t heard it anywhere else.

My question: is it automatically associated with the movie? If not, would it be easily pronounced based on that spelling? It’s pronounced [name]Cor[/name]-EE-nah, not [name]Cor[/name]-INN-ah.

I know someone with the name [name]Corinna[/name] pronounced cor-inn-ah. I would say [name]Corrina[/name] as cor-ee-na. of the two, I prefer [name]Corinna[/name].

i [name]LOVE[/name] corinna! i say cor-ee-na… I met a little girl recently with this name and she was adorable! made me love the name even more!

This. [name]Corinna[/name] (cor-inn-ah) is lovely.

I’ve never met anyone with this name but I do like it! I say cor-ee-nah too.

Also, I’ve never heard of that movie so I definitely don’t associate it to the movie.

Thank you, everyone! I can see that there isn’t a strong connection between the name and the movie, so I won’t worry about that!

As for the pronunciation, I personally prefer [name]Cor[/name]-ee-nah to [name]Cor[/name]-inn-ah. There’s something about the short “i” sound in the middle that sounds pinched to me, or like the name is broken into three distinct syllables. For me, the name [name]Corrina[/name] is much more fluid. Could just be the way I say them!

[name]Corrina[/name] ([name]Cor[/name] ee nah) i prefer spelt [name]Karina[/name]

Thanks! Isn’t [name]Karina[/name] a variation on the name? I would think [name]Karina[/name] was pronounced Care-ee-na instead of [name]Cor[/name]-ee-nah. Am I wrong?

You are correct. I would use [name]Korina[/name] for the pronunciation you are seeking. [name]Corrina[/name] works too and is a prettier spelling in my opinion.

I think the double R makes for an ambiguous pronunciation. I can only hear Coroner (!) when pronounced [name]Cor[/name]-inn-ah so prefer [name]Cor[/name]-ee-na and then I think why not make it easier and spell it [name]Corina[/name] or even [name]Carina[/name] (beautiful Italian name) - with a single R everyone will know it is cor-ee-na not cor-inn-ah.

I pronounce [name]Carina[/name] like cah-ree-nah, not cor-ee-na.

I would say core-eee-nuh…makes me think of the word careening…I like Core-inn-uh better.

I agree. [name]Korina[/name] seems more intuitively “[name]Cor[/name] ee na”. I know a Korine who pronounces it “[name]Cor[/name] inn” though, so it might be one of those names you have to hear once to know how to say? Not a big deal imo.
