Could Annika and Sloane work as twin sisters?

[name]Hi[/name] everyone!
I am thrilled to be expecting twins and now am really obsessing about names. We don’t yet know the sexes. [name]Annika[/name] has been my favorite girls name for a long time, and recently I have been really excited about [name]Sloane[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you think they are too different to work for twins if we have two girls?
Other names I am considering are [name]Sienna[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], [name]Eden[/name], [name]Devin[/name], [name]Tatum[/name], [name]Hadley[/name], [name]Halle[/name], [name]Jessamyn[/name]. Would appreciate any advice or suggestions, I really don’t like names that are frilly or too girly.
Thanks!

Personally, they sound a bit too different for my taste. I don’t even think they really sound like sisters. If you’re dead set on [name]Annika[/name], try something a bit softer than [name]Sloane[/name] for the other name, vise versa. [name]Just[/name] my opinion.

[name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Devin[/name] sound really cute together, and if you’re going the other way, [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Eden[/name] are beautiful!

Congrats on conceiving!!! best of luck!

In my opinion, while both names are lovely, they are too different to be sisters or especially twins. [name]Annika[/name] & [name]Tessa[/name] are a more feminine option, while [name]Sloane[/name] & [name]Tatum[/name] are more modern and different.

Good luck finding the perfect names for your beautiful little girls!

I don’t think [name]Annika[/name] really goes with any of the names you have picked. But annika and sloan definitely don’t sound good together. [name]Sloan[/name] and harlow or harper or hadley, and [name]Annika[/name] with names like [name]Katya[/name], [name]Sorcha[/name], [name]Ingrid[/name]

[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name] are a bit mismatched, but I think they’re fine together. If I were choosing twin names from your list, I would do…

[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Sienna[/name]
[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name]

[name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Hadley[/name]
[name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Tatum[/name]

I agree with the previous posts, they are quite different. [name]Annika[/name] is also a favorite of mine.

I would choose [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name] from the list. Otherwise, [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Margot[/name]??

I must be the odd one out — because I like the idea of twins named Sloane and Annika. Both names have (for lack of a better word) a sense of harshness that make for strong names. I’ve never understood the need to have siblings’ names match. In reality, they will grow up, have separate lives, and only live for a (relatively) short period as a “set”.

LOVING [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name] at the moment!

~[name]Jasmine[/name]

[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name] do feel quite different to me. [name]Annika[/name] is warm, down-to-earth, a bit sporty, but still feminine with loads of class. [name]Sloane[/name] is respectable, but very ambiguous, gender-wise, to me, and it’s always reminded me of cold metal. I’m not sure why, lol. What about something like [name]Annika[/name] [name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Eden[/name] _____? I think that’d be quite lovely, and [name]Annie[/name] and [name]Edie[/name] would be cute for twins.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the thoughtful replies! Most of you have confirmed what I was kind of feeling but hoping to avoid, that they are very different. I love them both, and I haven’t ruled out the possibility of using them together, so thanks to those who supported that idea too, but I think for me I might be bothered by the difference in feel. So…

Which combos do you like the best?

[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Eden[/name]
[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Sienna[/name]
[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name] (although am wary of this since last name begins with P, TP initials)
[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Halle[/name]
Or, just thought of [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Elin[/name]?

Vs

[name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Devin[/name]
[name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Hadley[/name]
[name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Tatum[/name] (see [name]Tessa[/name] above)

Ooh, so many good options! I prefer [name]Annika[/name] to [name]Sloane[/name], so I like the [name]Annika[/name] combos the best. I think [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name] sound really cute together! If you wanted to avoid T though, what about [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Nessa[/name]? Maybe matches too much with the “n’s”? I can’t decide.

[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Elin[/name] match really well! And I think [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Eden[/name] are also perfect as they have the same feel.
[name]Sienna[/name] and [name]Annika[/name] are too similar for my taste.

I think [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name] sound really great together and don’t clash at all. They’re a similar style in my mind, and I like how there aren’t any major sounds from one name in the other name. I like those two together a lot better than your favorite [name]Annika[/name] with any of the other options you listed. [name]Sloane[/name] would sound good with [name]Sienna[/name], [name]Tatum[/name], [name]Hadley[/name], or [name]Halle[/name], but I still like it best with [name]Annika[/name], and you said that’s your favorite! Stick with [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name]!

I think they’re a little different. [name]Annika[/name] seems very feminine, while [name]Sloane[/name] is more masculine. I think [name]Tess[/name] would work with both names really well.
[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Tess[/name]
[name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Tess[/name]

[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Sienna[/name] are great together!

Honestly, I know I’m in the minority, but I like them together. They’re both a bit harsh and strong, so they don’t clash at all.

i like them. i don’t care for matchy-matchy twin names though (rather predictable I find)

I think [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name] are just fine as sister names. Who says we have to stay in a theme or certain style when naming our children. I really like [name]Halle[/name] from your list as well.

Honestly, I know I’m in the minority, but I like them together. They’re both a bit harsh and strong, so they don’t clash at all.

They definitely could work together. I think that since they aren’t all that similar, it gives each twin their own personality. I can see an [name]Annika[/name] being friendly and smart, and a [name]Sloane[/name] being quick-witted and funny. Besides, do all twin names need to be matchy-matchy? I think it’s kind of tacky to have twins with similar names, like [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Willow[/name] and [name]Aspen[/name].

This. I’ve never understood why sibling names “need” to match in any way whatsoever, unless you’re going for that - which is fine, but not everyone cares to.

I like the idea of very different-sounding names for twins, because it’s unexpected (in a world where “[name]Chloe[/name] and [name]Zoe[/name]” are one of the top twin pairs, according to the SSA…) and because people are likely to get twins confused. Two very different names could differentiate them more and give them more of a sense of personal identity.

[name]Annika[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name] are my favorites from the OP’s list by far!
