Could Be a Girl Now...Feeling Weary About Naming

Posted on Boys’ Names Forum…anyway, long story short, we were told no chance of girl through our adoption agency; but now there is a slight chance it could be a girl. le sigh Wasn’t planning for this…SO, what do you all think of these names? I want to have it down to one or possibly two for the phone call next week (oh, hoping to keep Korean name as mn…not opposed to two mn’s though). THANKS!

[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Talullah[/name]
[name]Saoirse[/name]
[name]Lola[/name]
[name]Layla[/name]
[name]Lux[/name] (too soapy?)
[name]Dylan[/name]
[name]Fionnuala[/name] - nn [name]Ula[/name]

I like [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Layla[/name] best.

My favourite is [name]Layla[/name].

I like [name]Lola[/name]. Although I personally prefer a longer name, like [name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Lola[/name], or [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Lola[/name], etc.

[name]Maeve[/name]- Very pretty! [name]One[/name] of my faves. I know a very sweet girl named [name]Maeve[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t love the meaning though… “she who intoxicates”
[name]Talullah[/name]- I like this name, I don’t [name]LOVE[/name] it. [name]Tali[/name] or [name]Lula[/name] are cute nns. I can see this name on a very spunky girl.
[name]Saoirse[/name]- [name]One[/name] of my guilty pleasures, but the pronunciation issues would be very heavy on this child.
[name]Lola[/name]- It’s okay…don’t love it at all. Very cutesy and I can’t see it on an adult, plus, this name has a very negative meaning. [name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Lola[/name] is darling.
[name]Layla[/name]- Trendy…very popular in my area.
[name]Lux[/name] (too soapy?)- [name]Lux[/name] sounds very trendy…the name of quite a few starbabies…if you like trendy, go for it, but I think this name may cause teasing in school…?
[name]Dylan[/name]- I don’t think this name would be good on a girl…not a fan of gender-bending.
[name]Fionnuala[/name] - nn [name]Ula[/name]- [name]Don[/name]'t love the name or the nn. Kind of confusing and not all that pretty [name]IMO[/name].

My favorite’s [name]Lux[/name]! I like [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Dylan[/name] too though.

I like [name]Lola[/name] best from your list.

Are you getting an infant or child? I think this would be the biggest deciding factor for me. If I were getting a child that is old enough to be aware of language / words and has grown up speaking a different language, I would go with something that is easiest to pronounce. If it’s a baby, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I like [name]Layla[/name] the best! [name]Maeve[/name] is also very nice, but I can’t picture it on a Korean child.

[name]Maeve[/name] or [name]Layla[/name]

[name]Lux[/name]! It’s cute and lovely.

Congrats on your upcoming addition! We have friends who are adopting from South Korea as well (through [name]Holt[/name]), they recently got the referral call for a little boy! They are hoping to get him home by next spring
I love [name]Tallulah[/name], and [name]Maeve[/name] best of all! [name]Both[/name] names we had on our short list

Thanks all! I think [name]Maeve[/name] is our top girl choice after all things considered. I really appreciate al, the comments and thoughts. I think [name]Maeve[/name] is the best choice from our list; although I just can’t seem to let go of [name]Lux[/name] for some reason. Who knows, we could see her face (if it IS a her) and totally change our minds! Haha!

@cowgurwife: We are with [name]Holt[/name] too! Getting a phone call tomorrow…SO hoping for good news!

[name]Love[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] the best! My second would be [name]Lola[/name].

[name]Maeve[/name] - adorable name. I used to think it was a bit stuffy but it has grown on me so much I now have it on my top 10 list.
[name]Talullah[/name] - nms.
[name]Saoirse[/name]
[name]Lola[/name] - I prefer this as a nn for [name]Penelope[/name] or anything else. It’s a little to lady entertainer as a full name for me.
[name]Layla[/name] - beautiful.
[name]Lux[/name] (too soapy?) - I like it as a mn but as a first it always makes me think someone named their child Luxury - which I feel would be a bit pretentious.
[name]Dylan[/name] - most your other options are so feminine. This one seem a like the odd women out.
[name]Fionnuala[/name] - nn [name]Ula[/name] - prefer [name]Fiona[/name] I find this a little over-thought as a name. I also think with a Korean mn a simple and easily recognizable fn for the western world might be a good balance.

[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lux[/name] doesn’t work, but [name]Maeva[/name] [name]Lux[/name] is stunning! And you could still call her [name]Maeve[/name]. That would be my choice, especially if those two names are the ones you can’t seem to let go of.
I quite like [name]Saoirse[/name] as well, but it’s a little bit more challenging, pronunciation and spelling wise. [name]Saoirse[/name] [name]Lux[/name] or [name]Saoirse[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] would be wonderful ^^

I like [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Layla[/name] and [name]Dylan[/name]. [name]Lola[/name] is cute too.

[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Talullah[/name]
[name]Lola[/name]
[name]Layla[/name]
…I like these 4!, but I dislike the others. :). GOOD [name]LUCK[/name]!

My favorite name on your list is [name]Maeve[/name]!
