Okay so I know Clove doesn’t have a lot of love on Nameberry . But I’ve had it on my list for years now and I STILL love it, which is rare for me! Someone recommended I use [name_f]Clover[/name_f] instead w/ nn [name_u]Clove[/name_u], but [name_f]Clover[/name_f] just feels a bit too Hippie-ish for my taste. For example I’d compare [name_f]Clover[/name_f] to [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] and [name_u]Clove[/name_u] to [name_u]Sage[/name_u]…does that make sense? To me [name_u]Clove[/name_u] feels more grounded/wearable. Does [name_u]Clove[/name_u] feel just as outlandish to you?
So what are your honest opinions on these names? I’m not easily offended so be honest!
Have a good evening Berries!

I agree about it being more grounded. [name_u]Clove[/name_u] feels mature and fresh without being over-the-top cutesy. Plus, [name_f]Clo[/name_f] is a cute nn!
I like [name_u]Clove[/name_u]. The association with the spice is nice - I always associate it with [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] (clove and orange pomanders are a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] tradition in my family).
I remember reading The Hunger Games a few years ago and thinking [name_u]Clove[/name_u] would make a nice name (from what I recall, there’s a [name_u]Clove[/name_u] in the series, and a [name_f]Glimmer[/name_f]).
Clove is cute but it reminds me so much of Covid right now and I can’t shake that association out of my mind. I don’t think it’s unusable though. [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is so much cuter imo.
Clover is definitely out for me personally since my grandma’s dog is named [name_f]Clover[/name_f] and I just can’t get over that association, but [name_u]Clove[/name_u] does feel different! In a good way for sure.
Clove is kind of cool. It’s got that v sound of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], that O sound of [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and that same earthy vibe of [name_u]Sage[/name_u]! I’m surprised it’s not more popular
I automatically think of the Hunger Games character, and though minor, I feel like she will be the first thing many people will think of when they hear the name, but I might just be overestimating the popularity of the Hunger Games, idk.
But putting that aside, I think it is a really cute sounding name.
I really like [name_u]Clove[/name_u]! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nn [name_f]Clo[/name_f] too! It does remind me of the character from the hunger games but I don’t think that is a problem. I agree that [name_u]Clove[/name_u] does sound more mature/grounded than [name_f]Clover[/name_f] but I like [name_f]Clover[/name_f] too.
Ooh I like this! [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is one of my old favourites that I took off my list, but [name_u]Clove[/name_u] feels more earthy in a way and I like that. I also have [name_u]Sage[/name_u] on my list! I never considered [name_u]Clove[/name_u] before, thank you!
I love clove. And I like the word love is in it even tho it’s not pronounced the same
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] reminds me of cricket for some reason
Or buttercup and blossom lol
I like it! I’d love to see someone use it - i love a good unique name. This is the first time I’ve seen it on Nameberry, whereas I have seen [name_f]Clover[/name_f] a few times at least… so I do worry a bit about it being mistaken for [name_f]Clover[/name_f]. But I have a feeling I’m overthinking it - I don’t imagine most people outside of name nerd groups have seen either used as a name so they’ll take them at face value.
@kat.felton I’m glad everyone’s liking it, I’m used to mixed reactions on it. I don’t really associate [name_u]Clove[/name_u] with [name_f]Clover[/name_f] much at all for some reason. I just think of the spice. Though I do think [name_f]Clover[/name_f] would be a cute nn between family and friends! I do hope it remains a somewhat hidden gem🤞🏼. As a fellow name nerd, I tend to worry about name popularity, and I forget what’s actually popular…and what’s just popular amongst berries.
