I posted a little while ago about the name [name]Truly[/name], I recieved varied opinions on the name, and I’ve now decided to put it on my shortlist.

These are the combos that I’m currently considering, I’d be grateful if you’d give your opinions on them, or even just toss a vote in for the ones you prefer (there are quite a few).

I know there are quite a few combos there, but I’m having real trouble narrowing it down, I am rather attached to all of them. Some additional comments:

[name]Eowyn[/name] is pronounced Ay-oh-win

I know a lot of people prefer the spelling [name]Arielle[/name] to [name]Ariel[/name], but it is after [name]Sylvia[/name] Plath so spelling it [name]Ariel[/name] is important to me.

All of the names have buckets of personal signifigance of some sort to me, apart from [name]Truly[/name] [name]Vanessa[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] (which is a combo I love, but most likely the first one to be dropped due to this).

I read through them a few times trying each one out and everytime it sounded a bit silly to me. I’m sorry :(. It’s like naming a baby Honestly or Really [name]IMO[/name]. I keep hearing it as “[name]Truely[/name], [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Sara[/name]!” Like someone trying to convince someone of something. I do like some thing words and colors as names but this one is just too much for me.

I am sorry, but I have to agree. I think an adverb for a first name just sounds a bit off…

I like many of your other combos … but I think the flow would sound better (and less like a descriptive phrase) if you used [name]True[/name] rather than [name]Truly[/name], in my humble opinion. Another option which would carry the same virtuous meaning would be [name]Vrai[/name], which means “[name]True[/name]” in French, and is exotic sounding. Good luck naming!

I like [name]Truly[/name] (Truuuly Scrumptious, you’re truly, truly scrumptious!). That said, I like a lot of wacky names, and I’m not going to advocate using [name]Truly[/name], but I’m not going to caution you against it, either - it isn’t prone to horrid teasing, in my opinion, and if you gave her some more ‘normal’ middle names, she could revert to them if she decided she didn’t like her name. And in my opinion, children are always able to carry off eccentric choices better than you anticipate.

I like several of your middles a lot, including [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Eowyn[/name], [name]Ingrid[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name]. I also like [name]Vanessa[/name] a lot with [name]Truly[/name], as although it isn’t my personal favourite name, it tones it down perfectly. For that reason my vote would be for one of these :
[name]Truly[/name] [name]Vanessa[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Truly[/name] [name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] (the Ds in [name]Ingrid[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name] blend together in my opinion)
[name]Truly[/name] [name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Eowyn[/name].

As [name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] both end in the same sound as [name]Truly[/name], they are harder to make combinations for. What would you name a sibling to [name]Truly[/name]? I would name a sister [name]Lark[/name], or perhaps [name]Fable[/name].

In case you’re interested, in 2008 three baby girls were named [name]Truly[/name] in the UK.

do not name your child truly. i suggest [name]Vanessa[/name] [name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Arielle[/name]. it combines romance and strength.

I would not use the name [name]Truly[/name] either, but it is definitely not the worst name I’ve ever heard - not by a long shot - and she could go by one of her middle names. [name]Imo[/name], the best combo on your list is [name]Truly[/name] [name]Vanessa[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]. (Second favorite is [name]Truly[/name] [name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Ariel[/name], but I like the first one much better.)

I am a big fan of virtue names but [name]Truly[/name] is not grabbing me. sorry.
Have you thought of [name]Verity[/name]? this one is so pretty and not common.

Again, I’d like to point out that I’m NOT asking for your opinions on [name]Truly[/name] as a name, rather on the combos themselves and what ones have a better flow to them. If you’re only replying to post negative comments, I’d rather you didn’t post. I’m not after alternative suggestions either.

[name]Auburn[/name] you have been especially helpful! Thank you, I found it really interesting that 3 babies were named [name]Truly[/name] that year (I actually live in the UK so found it very informative). Thats such a fabulous thing to know, its uncommon but she wouldn’t be the ONLY one out there with the name.

[name]Vanessa[/name] isn’t something I’d ususally go for either, but I love it next to [name]Truly[/name]. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who likes that pairing :slight_smile:
As for the sibling names, well at the moment my two favourite names are [name]Piper[/name] and [name]Truly[/name]. I have loved the name [name]Piper[/name] for around 6 years or so, and couldn’t imagine what else I would ever choose to name a child. Then I discovered [name]Truly[/name]… so if I used [name]Truly[/name] her sibling would be [name]Piper[/name], and vice versa. I do however really like the name [name]Fable[/name], its actually on my list.

I rather like the idea of using [name]True[/name] and [name]Lia[/name] as nicknames for her, to widen her options a little. I always hated my name growing up, but using nicknames alongside [name]Truly[/name] would give her plenty of choice as to what she wished to be called as an adult. (It would be the same with [name]Piper[/name], I would use [name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Pippa[/name] alongside her main name. I’m a huge believer in nicknames.)

I automatically think Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when I hear the name [name]Truly[/name], and she was such a sweet character makes the name sorta grow on me :slight_smile:

But keeping your combos exactly as is my favs are: [name]Truly[/name] [name]Vanessa[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], and [name]Truly[/name] [name]Viola[/name] [name]Daphne[/name]

Also, I loved [name]Auburn[/name]'s sibset ideas to go with [name]Truly[/name] :smiley:

I think [name]Truly[/name] is adorable!

My favorite combo is [name]Truly[/name] [name]Vanessa[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] although many of them are stunning.
