Could I possibly get away with two place names?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Everyone -

I’ve been gone a while, but I’m back with a revamped list. I have a question regarding one of my possible combinations: [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_m]Richmond[/name_m].

A little backstory: we decided not to use any honor names outside of our top boy combination ([name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m] [name_m]Erich[/name_m]). Then Boyfriend mentioned he’d love to use his grandmother’s name, so we completely revamped the girls list. Our list is now [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] ______.

All of the first names are feminizations of male names, and beside [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] mean something. I wanted to honor my grandmother who passed away, but Boyfriend just can’t get on board with [name_f]Beverly[/name_f], [name_u]Everly[/name_u], [name_u]Kay[/name_u] or any other suggestions based on those names. I thought of using her maiden name, [name_m]Richmond[/name_m], as a middle.

I have a few questions regarding this:

  1. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_m]Richmond[/name_m] rings male, could it work for a girl?
  2. Is [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] enough of a name, to not feel like a state name?
  3. If [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] does feel state-y to you, could it work with a place name as a middle?

I really want to keep [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] because my favorite uncle is named [name_m]George[/name_m], and I like that it fits the pattern. Please let me know what you think.

Thank you,

I think [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is beautiful, and the fact that [name_m]Richmond[/name_m] is a family name trumps the fact that they’re both place names.
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_m]Richmond[/name_m] has a beautiful ring to it… it sounds incredibly southern, which I have a sweet spot for.

I think [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_m]Richmond[/name_m] is too much. [name_m]Richmond[/name_m], to me, doesn’t feel male or female. It just feels like [name_m]Richmond[/name_m], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]; so I personally can’t imagine a child of either sex named [name_m]Richmond[/name_m].
If you’d really like to use it what do you think about [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Richmond[/name_m]? To me, [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is more bland so a middle as unique as [name_m]Richmond[/name_m] works whereas with [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], it doesn’t feel like a name so much as it does a place. Does your boyfriend not even like [name_u]Everly[/name_u], [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] or [name_u]Kay[/name_u] as a middle? [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_u]Everly[/name_u] is absolutely gorgeous! [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] is great too, even [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u]. You could do a double middle name with [name_u]Kay[/name_u] too. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], etc. So much room to be creative, I just don’t think [name_m]Richmond[/name_m] works, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. Good luck!!!

[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] on its own makes a fine name in my opinion. However, paired with [name_m]Richmond[/name_m] it sounds way too state-y. I automatically think of the state of [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] meeting [name_m]Richmond[/name_m], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f].

Firstly, I love your list! Those names are all stunning.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_m]Richmond[/name_m] rings male, could it work for a girl?
I’m with katiem333; for the most part, it just isn’t a name to me. It would definitely work better for a boy (and in fact, I knew one growing up), but I think that’s mostly because of the nicknames [name_m]Rich[/name_m]/[name_m]Richie[/name_m]. Those aren’t particularly wearable for a girl. All that said, in general I wouldn’t mind it in the middle spot if it meant something special (which is obviously your case).

Is [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] enough of a name, to not feel like a state name?
Absolutely. I don’t think of [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] or [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] as state names at all, actually (unless prompted, of course). However, with [name_m]Richmond[/name_m]-- as forever.collector mentioned-- it is A Lot. More specifically, it’s overwhelmingly southern pride-y.

I know you said your boyfriend isn’t down for [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] or [name_u]Kay[/name_u] suggestions, but did you consider [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]? It sounds very different, but [name_u]Kay[/name_u] came from it. Another alternative would be [name_f]Kate[/name_f], but I figure you’re more likely to have thought of that.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], but not [name_m]Richmond[/name_m].
