In [name_f]April[/name_f] this year, my sister in law had a little girl called [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. My [name_m]SIL[/name_m] really picked my brain about names I loved, so she knew before she named her baby that I was in love with the name [name_f]Stella[/name_f].
Now hubby and I are trying for baby #2, and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is a favourite. Could I still use it? [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] would both have the same surname. We’re not particularly close to that side of the family, we just talk to and see them occasionally. They are obviously very similar sounding, but they both have entirely different meanings and I love the meaning of [name_f]Stella[/name_f].
Yes, they are two different names so I would say that you should use it and especially since your [name_m]SIL[/name_m] knows you love [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. I don’t see a problem at all.
I would definitely still use it. If it was your sister or someone closer it would be different, but since you don’t see them that often I would still name her [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. Plus, like you said, they are close but not the same and have different meanings.
Use it! My [name_m]SIL[/name_m] named her daughter [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and we had a Saela 5 weeks later. Not exactly the same, but their names are very similar and we spend a lot of time together. If you love the name, use it. And if she knew you loved [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and she still named her [name_f]Ella[/name_f], then she knew what she was getting into.
Go ahead! I would probably question it if she had a [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and then you’d go on to name your girl [name_f]Stella[/name_f], but these are two different names. You’re fine! Plus, you mentioned that she knew you liked the name [name_f]Stella[/name_f]…it shouldn’t be a surprise to her then.
Go for it - they’re cousins, and totally different names, so it’s fine. My cousin’s name is [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], and I’m a [name_u]Haley[/name_u] - both very similar and popular for our age group but we always loved that our names were similar growing up.
I definitely say use it. If they were going to be around each other every week then the similar sounds could get confusing but if you don’t see them super often I wouldn’t worry about it at all. She shouldn’t have asked you about names so much and then picked something so similar to your favorite if you ask me.
