I had a similar issue but mine is totally unusable. I love the name [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], but after YEARS I realised that our surname is Champion, and there is no way around that!
I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] ([name_m]Theodor[/name_m] look unfinished to me) [name_m]Thorn[/name_m] works fine, I think it’s actually kind of nice.
Brothers:
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m] (if you’re not opposed to the same initial)
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
I think that fairly classic names go well with [name_f]Willow[/name_f].
Well that’s encouraging! I might have my [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] yet. I probably will go with that spelling even though I love [name_m]Theodor[/name_m]([name_m]German[/name_m] spelling) just for the annoyance of correcting it all the time. It is the most common and well known version.
I like a lot of the other girl name suggestions. We used [name_f]Willow[/name_f] because it is my husbands most loved name. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I guess my style is more classic and traditional. I agreed to it after many nights researching the origins of the name and the root of the word. It means abundance of life from the old English Welig.
I also liked it because it was pronounced the same in English and Afrikaans (similar to Dutch,my mother tongue)
So I agree, I think it would really mix well with classic names. I would like a [name_m]German[/name_m] Dutch or [name_m]French[/name_m] influence in the name ( family origin)
I have to agree, I couldn’t use [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] Champion. I felt the same with [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and [name_m]Thorn[/name_m] but in the end we just went for it. The name does suit her. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it does have a hippy/ fairy vibe to it.
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is my second favourite boys name, but it’s my husband’s best friends name and he would never use it, [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] are nephews. But I have also loved [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. Not a huge fan of [name_m]Seb[/name_m] but nicknsnes can come intuitively so I won’t let that stop me. [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] made our previous short list
I would absolutely still use [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]! It was my favorite name for a while before having kids too, and is my son’s name! Our last name starts with T also (but not Th-) and I think your combination sounds fine, especially with the middle name.
I understand your concern, but I think it’s fine. [name_m]Thor[/name_m] [name_m]Thorn[/name_m] or [name_m]Thorin[/name_m] [name_m]Thorn[/name_m] would be a bit much, but the different endings and 3 syllables of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] make [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Thorn[/name_m] work, I think. If it bothers him, he could always go by Ted/[name_u]Teddy[/name_u].
I know many people don’t care for alliterative names, but my daughter’s name is alliterative and people love saying her name–they’ll use her full name as often as just her first name, and my daughter gets a kick out of it too.
I feel like the multiple syllables of [name_m]Theodor[/name_m]/e keep [name_m]Theodor[/name_m]/e [name_m]Thorn[/name_m] from sounding too superhero-y—I actually really like it! [name_u]Theo[/name_u] [name_m]Thorn[/name_m] might be too much as a given name, but [name_m]Theodor[/name_m]/e [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Thorn[/name_m] sounds great.
