Could it work, or is it awful?

We both love the name [name_f]Elle[/name_f] “el”, and our last name is [name_m]Olson[/name_m]. I realize [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_m]Olson[/name_m] does not have a particularly great flow, but is it a deal breaker or is it still usable even though it’s not perfect? The middle name is still undecided but there will be one in there that will help with the flow.

I don’t think it’s awful, but it doesn’t work very well. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] works better.

I agree with pp, but [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] are still very close to your daughters name.

I think it sounds just fine.

I think it’s totally fine! I love [name_f]Elle[/name_f]!

Not a deal breaker, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]! Finding a name you love is so much more important than worrying about flow. If you’re really worried about it, you could do a full name like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], which flows much better than [name_f]Elle[/name_f], and call her only [name_f]Elle[/name_f] but she will be forever repeating “I go by [name_f]Elle[/name_f]”. You’ve got a problem either way, so just use your best judgement and do what YOU think is best for your baby girl!

Definitely not awful; I’ve heard worse. Yeah it could be better in terms of flow, but I assure you that the majority of the populace either won’t notice or won’t be bothered. If you love the name, then don’t let it stop you.

I don’t think it is awful. It is very simple, but that is okay. And I agree with others that it should be spelled “[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]” (looks more complete, and helps to clarify pronunciation).

I love [name_f]Elle[/name_f], but no it doesn’t flow too well with [name_m]Olson[/name_m]. I like the idea of using [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], or a longer name that has [name_f]Elle[/name_f] in it and using [name_f]Elle[/name_f] as a nickname if you like. You could use the full name for more formal situations, she’d write full name [name_m]Olson[/name_m] on school papers and whatnot. but call her [name_f]Elle[/name_f] as a nickname at home/etc. when it wouldn’t be used with the last name. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is a bit close to [name_f]Eva[/name_f] since they’re both two syllables and have both the same beginning and ending, but [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], etc. would be fine.

Suggestions for [name_f]El[/name_f]- names:

[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]

I think it could definitely work!
