Could these Marvel lady names make a comeback?

Hello everyone!
My partner recently forced me to watch [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] movies with her, which got me thinking about the ladies’ names. I’m really loving [name_f]Wanda[/name_f] and [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] right now, though they’re obviously not that fashionable.
What do you think of [name_f]Wanda[/name_f] and [name_f]Peggy[/name_f]? Not in a [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] related sense. [name_m]How[/name_m] would you feel if you met someone with the names?
And what are your personal favorite female [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] names?

I like [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] a lot! It reminds me of other names that are coming back, like [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], [name_f]Effie[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Edie[/name_f]!
[name_f]Wanda[/name_f] isn’t my fave but it’s okay

[name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is adorable and I would love to see her make a comeback! [name_f]Wanda[/name_f], not so much…

I like [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] a lot, as a full name or nickname! I’m not sure if [name_f]Wanda[/name_f] sounds dated to me or if I just don’t like the way it sounds in general, but I don’t think that one has as much comeback potential…

[name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is adorable! It was a nickname for [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] though - her full name was [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] I love the character [name_f]Wanda[/name_f], but not the actual name, sorry!

I think [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is sweet, and I can definitely see it working on a modern child and adult. [name_f]Wanda[/name_f] though, I don’t feel is quite ready for modern use yet.

Of the female [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] characters names (I’m no fan - just looked at an online list), I like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_u]Echo[/name_u], [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f], [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_u]Domino[/name_u] & [name_f]Aleta[/name_f] best.

In contrast to everyone else here, I actually really like [name_f]Wanda[/name_f]. Something about it sounds magical (maybe the “wand” beginning). [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is not my favorite, but it makes a cute nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], which is another name I love.

Thanks for all the thoughts and opinions so far! Pleasantly surprised that everyone likes [name_f]Peggy[/name_f].

I know a little [name_f]Peggy[/name_f]; it’s Top 500 here in [name_f]England[/name_f]. I really like it — it’s sweet and nicknamey like so many fashionable names in the UK right now ([name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_u]Bertie[/name_u], [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]…), but feels a lot feistier and edgier than those. It’s more like [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f], [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] in its retro coolness.

Thanks again for all the replies! If you don’t mind answering, what kind of girl do you imagine a [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] to be like? Appearance or personality, anything.

[name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is really not my style, as much as I like the character, and I like other nicknames for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] much more. I think [name_f]Wanda[/name_f] is pretty cool, actually! It’s also not something I would use, but I’d be much more excited to meet a little [name_f]Wanda[/name_f] than a [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] (just from a personal style standpoint).

To be honest, I really adore the name [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] for a girl! Does that count lol?

I personally don’t like these two names at all and would definitely think they were dated, especially if I met someone my age with them. However, I do think [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] might be making a comeback as some other people have mentioned, so even though I personally don’t love the sound, it would be pretty cute on a kid.

I absolutely adore [name_f]Peggy[/name_f], and it’s short for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], so down the line she could always choose to go by [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] or [name_f]Meg[/name_f] or any of the other nicknames for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]… or even just [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], which is a really charming name too. I don’t think I’d use [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] as a standalone name, though.

[name_f]Wanda[/name_f] sounds frumpy and dated to me. I think I’m biased because I don’t care for the character and I went to school with a girl who had a very obnoxious mother named [name_f]Wanda[/name_f], though.

I’m a bit of a [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] nerd, so I’ll just throw out a few other [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] names I like: [name_f]Natasha[/name_f], [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Greer[/name_f], [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], and [name_f]Kitty[/name_f]. Someone earlier in this thread called [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] “retro cool,” and I feel like there are quite a few [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] names that fall into that category. [name_f]Elektra[/name_f] is also lovely but obviously unusable, but I love the idea of just using [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] as a name.

I think DC honestly has more naming potential—[name_f]Diana[/name_f] is lovely, [name_u]Lane[/name_u] could be a modern way to reference [name_f]Lois[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u], and names like [name_f]Dinah[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], and even [name_f]Mera[/name_f] are very usable.

I actually think [name_f]Wanda[/name_f] is sweet, though I’m not the hugest fan of [name_f]Peggy[/name_f], even though I love [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], or [name_f]Margot[/name_f] as a nickname.

Other great [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] lady names:

[name_u]Pepper[/name_u]
[name_f]Yelena[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Bobbi[/name_f]
[name_u]Skye[/name_u]
[name_f]Jemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Melinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f]
[name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorna[/name_f]
[name_u]Jean[/name_u]
[name_f]Monica[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]

I picture a [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] to be a sweet and feminine.

An adult [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] I imagine to be smart, put together and a book worm- I picture glasses and her hair up in a neat bun. Kind of a librarian-eqsue Miss [name_f]Honey[/name_f] from [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. I imagine her to be friendly and warm, though on the quiet side.

A young girl called [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] I definitely picture in vintage/retro clothing because of the name’s dated association. However, a modern-day little girl called [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] I would picture in overall-shorts running around outside. To me, a [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] would probably be interested in running around outside and chasing frogs in the mud, as well as playing with paper dolls and doing crafts. I can imagine her sitting cross-legged on the floor, surrounded in paper scraps as she cuts out stars or snowflakes or some other design.

I think both [name_f]Wanda[/name_f] and [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] feel quite dated, however I think [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] is usable. I would use the full name [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and have [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] as a nickname. I also like previous posters’ suggestions of other [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] girls’ names (including [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] itself!) I hope this helps!

I have known many women named [name_f]Peggy[/name_f], and have to admit the name feels dated to me. I also can’t get past the “egg” sound.

I prefer [name_f]Wanda[/name_f]. It feels fresher.

Unfortunately I’m not a fan of either of these names; they both sound dated to me and can’t really see them making a comeback soon. I don’t mind [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] as a nickname for something like [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] but I wouldn’t choose it as a standalone name.

My favourite [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] character names are [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] ([name_m]Black[/name_m] Widow) and [name_f]Elektra[/name_f] (I would spell it [name_f]Electra[/name_f] though).
