We’ve decided on [name_f]Shoshanna[/name_f] for our second daughter (a little sister for [name_f]Viviane[/name_f]), and we’re debating some possible nn options, just in case.
We’re not the kind of people to enforce nicknames (if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out.), but we always like the idea of them.
Our favorite is Shosh or Shoshie, but we feel like they are a bit cutesy and she might prefer a tougher nn when she’s older.
This got us wondering, could [name_u]Shea[/name_u]/[name_u]Shay[/name_u]/[name_u]Shae[/name_u] work as a nn for [name_f]Shoshanna[/name_f]?
Yes, I think it works just fine! And it’s easier to say than Shosh or Shoshie, which almost take more effort than [name_f]Shoshanna[/name_f]. Good thought.
[name_u]Shawn[/name_u]/[name_u]Shaun[/name_u] and [name_f]Shauna[/name_f] are other less cutesy options. Or just Sho.
[name_u]Shay[/name_u] works, you could also have [name_f]Hanna[/name_f], [name_u]Shan[/name_u], or even [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Lil[/name_f] as [name_f]Shoshanna[/name_f] means [name_f]Lily[/name_f].
I think it works, but just as another opinion, I know a [name_f]Shoshanna[/name_f] (maybe 30 years old?) who goes by Shosh. It doesn’t have to be just cutesy!
[name_u]Shea[/name_u]/[name_u]Shay[/name_u]/[name_u]Shae[/name_u] would definitely work as a nickname for [name_f]Shoshanna[/name_f]- which is a lovely name, by the way. That being said, she may grow up and prefer a different nickname or to go by her full name, and unexpected/unusual nicknames tend to be more likely to change as she/other people default to the more common one- though of course this may not happen!
