Could this ever work?

Lately I have been so in love with the name [name]Avery[/name] for a girl! I don’t know what has come over me, I usually don’t go for unisex or boy’s names on girls but I just cannot get [name]Avery[/name] out of my head! I have normally had [name]Ava[/name] on my list but it is just not like [name]Avery[/name] for me anymore. My top choice for a girl is [name]Clara[/name]. Can [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] every work as sisters, or is [name]Avery[/name] doomed to be a GP forever?

[name]Every[/name] [name]Avery[/name] that I know (all of them are under 4) are girls. I think [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] sound cute together.

[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] are complete opposites stylistically. I would not expect them to be sisters.

Me, too. Although you know where I stand on [name]Avery[/name] on a boy! haha. If I saw [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] as siblings, I would automatically assume they were brother and sister (and adorable ones at that!). I think you could get away with [name]Avery[/name] as a MN ([name]Liliana[/name] [name]Avery[/name] was my first thought, I know [name]Liliana[/name]‘s not on your list, but it could work). I think something like [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Avery[/name] would be too stark of a difference, even for one combo. I think all your girls’ names are too feminine to ever use [name]Avery[/name], especially if [name]Blair[/name] is back on your list for a son.

I absolutely adore [name]Hadley[/name] sometimes, but I just remember how much I dislike having a unisex name, and I remember to leave [name]Hadley[/name] for a book character.

I love [name]Avery[/name] for a girl as well. If I met a [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] somewhere, I wouldn’t think they were siblings. I can see [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] as siblings because, while [name]Claire[/name] is girly, it’s got a tomboyish feel as well, but I can’t see [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] as sisters. They’re polar opposite styles.

Thanks ladies! @ash - I don’t like [name]Avery[/name] in the middle, it would be a lot easier if I did though. I am not sure of [name]Blair[/name]'s fate either!
@dizii - Thanks for the suggestion, [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] would probably work a lot better but I don’t know that I can give up [name]Clara[/name] :frowning:

Would it help if my top choices for boys were there too? What if you saw [name]Dean[/name], [name]Clara[/name], [name]Dominic[/name] and [name]Avery[/name]? Would it seem like a 2-2 sibset or 3 boys and only [name]Clara[/name] being the girl?

If I was just hearing it in passing I would assume that combo was 3 boys and one girl… However if you just ended up with two daughters named [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] I don’t think it would be the worst thing in the world. [name]Avery[/name] starts with [name]Clara[/name]'s ending letter but since the A has a different sound in each name I don’t think they would be in danger of running together.
(Though if you did have a [name]Dominic[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] the C’s definitely would, so you may want to consider that as well). Would you be comfortable using D names for all of your boys and then just let each girl randomly have her own beginning letter? And do you like [name]Avery[/name] for a boy at all?

My favorite combos would be:
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Dean/name, [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Dean/name, or [name]Dominic[/name] and [name]Avery/name. [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Avery/name works for me only if there are no boys. =]

[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Avery[/name] for a boy at all? And ould you be comfortable using D names for all of your boys and then just let each girl randomly have her own beginning letter? Hmmm, I’d think 3 boys and one girl because I see [name]Avery[/name] as a handsome boy’s name.

I agree with some of the above posts that [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] are complete different styles.

I think [name]Avery[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is very pretty. It has a good balance and makes the name feminine without being too girly.

I think it could work. [name]Remember[/name], for most of [name]Avery[/name]'s life (as a child in school, and then as she ages), she will be introduced without her siblings.

Yeah, sorry, [name]Lindsay[/name], if I saw [name]Dean[/name], [name]Clara[/name], [name]Dominic[/name], and [name]Avery[/name] down on paper, I would assume that [name]Clara[/name] was an only daughter amongst 3 brothers. :frowning:

Have you considered [name]Aveline[/name]? Sort of feels like a nice compromise between [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Avery[/name]–the length and spunk of [name]Avery[/name], but the femininity and old-charm of [name]Ava[/name]… with of course having the option of [name]Ava[/name] as a nn? I think [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Aveline[/name] would be stunning!

@MissHoppy - Thank you that is a good point!

@[name]Ash[/name] - I have thought about [name]Aveline[/name] in the past but I am not 100% sold on it.

I think I already know the answer but I will ask anyways, would spelling it [name]Averie[/name] change things at all? Or does it just make it more trendy?

I always think of [name]Avery[/name] as a girl’s name, and I think [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] are nice together. Someone else brought up that the girls wouldn’t always be introduced together, but there’s also the point that after they grow up they’ll be in different circles, maybe change their last name, etc. I don’t think style is important so much as looks.

Actually, [name]Averie[/name] does change it a bit on paper, and this might be the only time that I don’t mind someone changing the spelling, lol.
The ‘i’ in there makes it look more like the word ‘aviary’ to me… I think that’s why I like it. =]
