[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the nickname [name_m]Neddy[/name_m]/[name_m]Neddie[/name_m] works for [name_f]Eluned[/name_f]? I usually like unusual nn’s not many people would think of, and I prefer [name_m]Neddy[/name_m] to [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] (which I consider a “predictable” nickname). I understand some people may find it masculine because of the “[name_m]Eddy[/name_m]/[name_m]Eddie[/name_m]” part, but I don’t mind.
Anyways, what are your thoughts on this nn? Also, which spelling do you prefer?
I love unexpected but still reasonable nicknames and [name_m]Neddy[/name_m]/[name_m]Neddie[/name_m] absolutely works for [name_f]Eluned[/name_f]. I’d choose [name_m]Neddie[/name_m] because it seems more feminine.
[name_m]Neddy[/name_m]/[name_m]Neddie[/name_m] definitely works for [name_f]Eluned[/name_f], as in it’s easy to see where it comes from and makes sense. I do think it sounds a bit masculine, personally, due to its similarity to [name_m]Ned[/name_m] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], but if you don’t mind that’s not a problem.
I think it works. I too prefer alternatives to [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] - it’s very common and although pretty it IS predictable.
Question - how are you pronouncing [name_f]Eluned[/name_f]?? The Nameberry listed pronunciations are eh-LEEN-ed (I think) and eh-LOOND. I have half fallen in love with it but want to pronounce it [name_f]EL[/name_f]-oon-ed/el-OON-ed. It would be so much easier to love it if that was a legitimate pronunciation, and I’d really like to, as it’s such a beautiful name!
[name_m]Eddie[/name_m] is a nname that’s used around our community -mostly for [name_f]Edwina[/name_f] -so I tend to love it.
Its just the variation in pronunciation of [name_f]Eluned[/name_f] that makes it more or less a great nname.
I also love [name_f]Nedra[/name_f] .
