I prefer full name [name]Azuriah[/name] but I like the nn Mazzy (remember Mazzy [name]Star[/name]?!). I’m not sure about [name]Zuri[/name] for a boy. It sounds like a girls name to me (mostly, I think, because of [name]Suri[/name]) but as you said, it’s rare enough that most people probably wouldn’t even question it. I don’t know if [name]Asa[/name] works as a nn, but it’s one of my favorite names.
I love a lot of unique Old Testament/Biblical names and I was considering using some for middle names. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Azariah[/name], and Azaliah for boys. I really like the meanings. Also Amaziah and Amasiah were on my “Biblical names” list, but all for boys. Their “iah” endings do make them more feminine to some people, though. Amaziah was a king of [name]Judah[/name], so to me, I wouldn’t use it or any of these for girl names, but that’s just me. I’m sure a lot of people might not know the background, especially if not [name]Christian[/name] or religious.
I am familiar with the bible so the names sound very familiar to me.
They are both great and I couldn’t choose a favourite!!
Is [name]Azarius[/name] a better version of [name]Azariah[/name]?
I like Amaziah and [name]Azariah[/name]. Obscure Biblical names are some of the coolest names out there in my opinion. [name]Both[/name] would make refreshing choices. If [name]Isaiah[/name] and [name]Hezekiah[/name] and [name]Malachi[/name] work, why not Amaziah and [name]Azariah[/name]?
My second son is [name]Hezekiah[/name] so I tend to agree.
Southern.maple do you happen to know who Amaziah was in the Bible? Or the meaning?
