Could you please give me your thoughts on our girls list? Having trouble deciding

Besides [name]Claire[/name], which we will probably use first if we have a girl, I can’t seem to figure out which names I like best. I know, it’s not necessary to narrow down right now, as I’m not even expecting yet,(we are TTC for 5 months now) but I can’t help but think about it. Sometimes I think, “what if I have twin girls?” I know, not a huge chance, but it still crosses my mind. (twins are on both sides, mine and hubby’s though. not sure how all that works.)

So I guess I’d just like some outside opinions on all these names we have listed. I guess it would help me as I wait very anxiously for a second little one. I’d really appreciate feedback on each name if you have time. I know it’s a bit on the long side. I just feel really stuck.
In no specific order and with some thoughts on each.

[name]Julia[/name]- This was my top pick for if our son was a girl. I still love it but feel maybe I’d pick something else now? not sure

[name]Anneliese[/name]- This is my husband’s favorite right now. He seems to really love it. I would say I just like it right now.

[name]Elena[/name]- This was our second choice if our son was a girl, mostly my husband’s though. It was his favorite for a long time. Now he prefers [name]Anneliese[/name] first I think, but I think he prefers [name]Elena[/name] over [name]Julia[/name].

[name]Zoe[/name]- This one seems somewhat out of place with the rest of my girls names but I do think goes great with our son’s name, [name]Cuyler[/name]. Cuy and [name]Zoe[/name] sound cute. I’m not sure I’d put it before [name]Claire[/name] though.([name]Claire[/name] and [name]Zoe[/name] for twins? )

[name]Meredith[/name]- I’ve always been drawn to this name and DH likes it too so I added it. I would nn her [name]Mera[/name]/[name]Mara[/name].

[name]Eliza[/name]- This was a name DH always brought up when we talked about names in our first years of marriage before kids. I always vetoed it instantly. Now I like it but not sure if I like it enough to use it before some of my others.

[name]Madeleine[/name]- DH and I liked [name]Madelyn[/name] for a long time and it was a choice with our first child([name]Julia[/name], [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Madelyn[/name]) We eventually dropped this one but we both still like although with the original spelling. Right now I have it as a middle name but would consider it as a first I think.

[name]Julia[/name] - [name]Julia[/name]'s just beautiful!
[name]Anneliese[/name] - There was a mean lady living next to me when I was little called this. However, I do love [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Liesel[/name], and this is almost the same.
Elena - Makes me think of Catherine Zeta Jones in Zorro, which makes it quite badass.
[name]Zoe[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Zoe[/name]! Cute, spunky and it literally means life!
[name]Meredith[/name] -I love the soft sound of [name]Meredith[/name]. It’s also a really strong name, which makes it intriguing.
[name]Eliza[/name] - Makes me think of My Fair Lady and [name]Audrey[/name] Hepburn.
[name]Madeleine[/name] - I don’t like, never saw the charm in this name.

[name]Meredith[/name], [name]Zoe[/name] & [name]Julia[/name] are my favourites!

Your names are all beautiful!! With a name list like that, you really ought to have triplet girls! The first three combos in your signature (with the family connections) are beautiful and PERFECT!

I like the names in this order. Actually, the first three are a virtual tie for 1st place:

[name]Julia[/name] (Combo in your signature is gorgeous!)
[name]Claire[/name] (ditto)
[name]Anneliese[/name] (Combo in your signature is stunning.)
[name]Elena[/name] - I love this name!
[name]Eliza[/name] - Pretty!
[name]Madeleine[/name] - Pretty!
[name]Meredith[/name] - okay, but not my favorite on your list
[name]Zoe[/name] - okay

I love [name]Julia[/name], it is one of my top names.
[name]Anneliese[/name] just makes me think of Anal Ease
[name]Elena[/name], [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] and [name]Meredith[/name] are great too and I love [name]Zoe[/name], so cute and spunky, different yet normal. Does that make sense?

I really love [name]Julia[/name], [name]Anneliese[/name], & [name]Elena[/name]! I would have to say [name]Anneliese[/name] is my favorite though, less common of the three and so so beautiful, it’s been a favorite of mine for years. I like [name]Eliza[/name] but it’s never stood out to me, like I never once saw this name and thought, ‘oh wow’ or ‘beautiful’. Maybe it’s not exactly my style. [name]Madeleine[/name] is very pretty, it used to be a favorite but it’s lost it’s shine, having heard it used [name]IRL[/name] a few times, I do [name]LOVE[/name] the nickname [name]Della[/name] though instead of [name]Maddie[/name], it would set her apart from any other [name]Madeleine[/name]/[name]Madeline[/name]/[name]Madelyn[/name]'s out there, pretty name like I said but not my favorite! [name]Zoe[/name] is nms, to me it sound obnoxious, I think it’s the E ending. [name]Meredith[/name] is a nice enough name but it doesn’t do anything for me, a bit too plain. I do have to admit though [name]Mera[/name]/[name]Mara[/name] is cute!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! It helps to hear other’s opinions! More are welcome! I think I could honestly say [name]Eliza[/name] is on the bottom of the list for me right now. I do think it is sweet that my husband always liked it and would mention though. He still likes it but probably not as much as [name]Elena[/name] or [name]Anneliese[/name]. It’s so cute, he really wants to use the [name]German[/name] pronunciation, which would be totally confusing and not practical in the U.S. !!

[name]Julia[/name] - Hmm, okay, I guess…not my style, though.
[name]Claire[/name] - I like [name]Claire[/name], it’s simple yet beautiful, and I [name]LOVE[/name] your middle choices.
[name]Anneliese[/name] - This one is my favorite…love the [name]German[/name] spelling
[name]Elena[/name] - Sounds dated…
[name]Eliza[/name] - I don’t know quite why, but I’ve never liked [name]Eliza[/name] much.
[name]Madeleine[/name] - Pretty, but I prefer [name]Madeline[/name].
[name]Meredith[/name] - Like this one only as a middle…
[name]Zoe[/name] - I love [name]Zoe[/name]! It’s short and simple, and nickname-proof, if you’re not a fan of nicknames.

My top 3:
1 - [name]Anneliese[/name]
2 - [name]Zoe[/name]
3 - [name]Claire[/name]

My favourites are [name]Annelise[/name], [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Madeleine[/name]

I love [name]Anneliese[/name] the most- and think it’s a bonus your husband loves it too. I also love [name]Claire[/name]- I don’t think you can go wrong with [name]Claire[/name]. Another one to add- how about [name]Amelia[/name]? It seems to go with your style a little bit.

[name]Madeleine[/name] is super popular by me (lots of Maddies) so not sure if it is by you and if that would bother you. I work with kids for a living and always have trouble pronouncing this- my clients are always correcting me. I seem to always forget made-line vs. made-lyn. not sure if any pronunciation issues might bother you- altho you might have that with [name]Anneliese[/name] too (ahna-lease vs. anna-lease).

My least favorites are probably [name]Julia[/name], [name]Elena[/name], and [name]Meredith[/name]. I feel like they were a little more popular in the 90s and while they are still relevant now- they don’t excite me as much. (although the main goal is for them to excite YOU! )

I vote [name]Julia[/name]! Or [name]Meredith[/name].

With [name]Cuyler[/name] as a brother, I really like [name]Anneliese[/name] and [name]Mara[/name] (I know you had this as a nn, but would you consider it as fn?). [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Elise[/name] instead of [name]Eliza[/name]?

From your signature I also love [name]Viviana[/name]. My fave combo from your list is [name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Jayne[/name].

I’m not even NEAR ttc and I’ve still got a list of names for future babies saved on my computer! :stuck_out_tongue:

[name]Julia[/name] - I like this one, but it’s not a fave. I really can’t say there’s anything I [name]DON[/name]'T like about it, just not really my style. I would prefer [name]Julianna[/name], [name]Juliet[/name], or [name]Julianne[/name]. It is cute though.

[name]Anneliese[/name] - My thoughts on this one is pretty similar to those on [name]Julia[/name]. It’s nice, but just not a favorite of mine.

[name]Elena[/name] - I think this one is super cute. It’s classically beautiful but still on par with current trends. Definitely a solid choice!

[name]Zoe[/name] - is another that is cute, just not really my style. I prefer most of your other girls names over this one. Although I will agree that [name]Zoe[/name] and Cuy sound cute together.

[name]Meredith[/name] - I love this one! It’s on my own list. Sort of a new love of mine, but I just realized how beautiful it is. Classic and pretty, but confident and strong. I love the nickname Mer.

[name]Eliza[/name] - Probably my least fave of your choices here. [name]Just[/name] not really my style.

[name]Madeleine[/name] - is definitely cute and classy. [name]Maddie[/name] is a cute nn and [name]Madeleine[/name] is a great ‘grown up’ name for when she’s older.

My top 3: [name]Meredith[/name], [name]Elena[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name]. In that order. For what it’s worth, if [name]Claire[/name] was included in that list, that would be my no. 1 as well!

Good luck with your decision! And most of all good luck with your baby-making! [name]Hope[/name] everything goes well for you guys.

[name]Meredith[/name] is the one!

[name]Claire[/name]…I adore this name. [name]One[/name] of a few short-and-sweet names that oozes femininity and class.
[name]Julia[/name]…A great name that goes wonderfully with [name]Claire[/name]. [name]Juliet[/name] is a similar option to consider.
[name]Anneliese[/name]…[name]Love[/name] this name and this is pretty much the only spelling I like. Those not interested in names may have trouble with the spelling, though.
[name]Elena[/name]…Gentle and pretty.
[name]Zoe[/name]…It may not fit in style with some of your other names, but I think it goes nicely if you stick with some of the shorter names ([name]Claire[/name], [name]Julia[/name], [name]Elena[/name], etc.). To me, it fits best with [name]Claire[/name] but doesn’t go as well stylistically with the others.
[name]Meredith[/name]…A nice name, but it doesn’t seem to jive as well with some of your other picks…it’s a bit stuffier and less gently feminine. I’ve known many Merediths but none used a nickname. [name]Mera[/name]/[name]Mara[/name] may be a bit of a stretch.
[name]Eliza[/name]…Not my favorite pick, but this does seem to be one of those old-fashioned names that Berries are opting to use. Maybe it’ll grow on me.
[name]Madeleine[/name]…Great name, great spelling (though, as with [name]Anneliese[/name], not everyone will recognize the spelling).

Lots of potential sib sets here. My favorite would be [name]Claire[/name], [name]Anneliese[/name] and [name]Madeleine[/name].

Your son’s name, [name]Cuyler[/name] [name]Reese[/name] Holcomb, is so unusual and fresh to me that some of your more traditional girls choices seem a little odd to me. Not bad odd, just not at the same level of individuality.

[name]Julia[/name] - very classic and clean. However, this is one of those that seem to tame to be Cuylers sister.

[name]Anneliese[/name]- I love [name]Anneliese[/name], wish you would love it more as well. It’s a little on the traditional side but unfamiliar enough that I like it as a sib-set with [name]Cuyler[/name].

[name]Elena[/name]- I really like [name]Elena[/name], it is probably one of my favorites from you list. I’ve only ever meet one in my life and she was so spunky that this name, despite it’s traditional feel always rings out spunk. (Alternatives [name]Ilena[/name], [name]Helen[/name]/a)

[name]Zoe[/name]- [name]Zoe[/name] has always been one of my favorites. I think it would be nice with [name]Cuyler[/name], though I do feel that it has become a little more common with it’s popularity as a name for characters on tv shows.

[name]Meredith[/name]- nn [name]Mera[/name] is adorable. Next to [name]Elena[/name] probably my favorite. I like the classy long form with the spunky nn. <thumbs up>

[name]Eliza[/name]- see [name]Julia[/name].

[name]Madeleine[/name]- I like it as a mn, otherwise I feel the same about this as [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Julia[/name].

Wow, thanks for the great feedback! I hadn’t checked out this thread in a while and was surprised to see more replies! Thanks. DH and I are working at narrowing down these names and it is really just so hard! I really like them all so much it’s hard for any to come out on top. My husband is very stuck on the name [name]Anneliese[/name](But only the [name]German[/name] pronunciation) So we are running into a bit of a problem with that. It is very beautiful and not main-stream, but [name]Cuyler[/name] isn’t either so maybe we could pull it off. No one in our circles of friends had really heard of the name [name]Cuyler[/name] so they all thought it was unusual. I think we could pull off just about any name after the reactions we got on [name]Cuyler[/name].
