Have you considered any names that aren’t so alliterative? [name_m]Cabot[/name_m], [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], etc? I have an alliterative name and I hate having to feel like my parents were naming a cartoon character instead of a person.
Hmm, I voted for [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] Hinchey but to be honest I don’t love any of them combined with the surname. The repetitive “in- in” sound that comes from the endings of these names and the first syllable of Hinchey sounds stuttery to me.
The repeated sounds in capital letters (not necessarily emphasized, but there):
fIN hINchey
hudSIN hINchey
harriSIN hINchey
To me it’s too much “in”.
Would you consider [name_m]Findlay[/name_m] or [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m]? That would break it up and make it so the “in” sounds don’t run together. What were the other possibilities from your extended list? You seem to have a kind of western/cowboy vibe happening. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Hank[/name_m], [name_u]Carter[/name_u], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], [name_u]West[/name_u], [name_m]Zane[/name_m], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_u]Walker[/name_u], [name_m]Clay[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u]? [name_m]Archer[/name_m], [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m], [name_m]Cole[/name_m]?
I like The flow of [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] Hinchy.
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] Hinchey is the best, by far. It’s a great name. [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] Hinchey just doesn’t sound like a name, and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] Hinchey makes me say “[name_u]Finn[/name_u]-in [name_f]Chi[/name_f]”. I seem to recall having voted for [name_u]Finn[/name_u] in a previous poll, but am glad that I said it aloud this time around : ) I’m not sure if these choices are final, so I have some suggestions {from ‘similar names’ of [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]}:
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m]
[name_m]Declan[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m]
[name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
I voted for [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] but now that I think about it I think I prefer [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] Hinchey.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. I do not dislike any of them, all handsome.
I voted for [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] but I like [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] as well. And don’t mind the rude comments. None of them sound cartoonish to me.
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u]! I like this one the best.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] @rkrd:) I know two of our names are alliterative. I would avoid it if I could–but we seem to be stuck on those “H” names for some reason. There are not any others that we quite like as much. If we do end up picking an H name hopefully our son does not feel like a cartoon!!
I voted for [name_u]Finn[/name_u]
I like the flow of [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] Hinchey best, but but the problem is with the potential for it being shortened. If you want to avoid ‘[name_m]Harry[/name_m] Hinchey’, I would established another nickname (eg [name_m]Harris[/name_m]) early on.
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] are both great names too though. Go with your gut!
I actually really like the alliteration of [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] Hinchey. It sounds very suave to my ears.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] @rosierose,
Thank-you for the feedback—I know there is a lot of “in” in the name. The surname makes it really difficult. We seem to be really suck on those three first names though —however we do really like your suggestion of [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. We think it goes well with the last name and I really like the characteristics that come to mind when I hear the name. Unfortunately we have a family dog named [name_m]Jack[/name_m] though–so I don’t think it will work:S
Either [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] or [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] sounds okay. I chose [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] because I think it’s a nicer name. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] Hinchley has the rhyming “in” sound, which I dislike.
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m] Hinchey sounds great and not cartoonish at all.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] @chrisco!
Thank-you for your thoughts and for some suggestions with other similar names. There are a few on your list that we really like and have considered–however because other close friends and family have used them we feel like we can’t:S
Thanks very much @sheildsc
@emsky-- Thank-you for your suggestion. I like the nickname [name_m]Harris[/name_m] as well. Def. want to avoid “[name_m]Harry[/name_m]”
