I’ve loved names like [name_f]Philippa[/name_f], [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] for a while, and I still love them, but I think it’s time to move on.
I’ve been dating someone for a while. She’s very masculine, and doesn’t really identify as a woman. She has a name that is unique and unisex, and it’s served her very well. It’s made me think that I need to revisit my list. The names I used to like now seem way to frilly. So I’m redoing my list entirely.
My absolute favorite name is [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. Most everyone I’ve asked has said it would work as a girl’s name, even if they don’t like it personally.
What are some uncommon (basically not top 10) but not unheard of unisex names? Some other names I like, for some more context, are [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] and [name_u]Morgan[/name_u].
You could compromise with a feminine name but a masculine nickname, ie
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] nn [name_m]Eli[/name_m]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_m]Eli[/name_m] or [name_u]Billie[/name_u]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] nn [name_u]Billie[/name_u]
[name_u]Andrea[/name_u] nn [name_u]Andy[/name_u]
[name_f]Drusilla[/name_f] nn [name_u]Dru[/name_u] / [name_u]Drew[/name_u]
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] nn [name_u]Phil[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_m]Rome[/name_m], [name_m]Romey[/name_m]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] nn [name_m]George[/name_m]
Thanks for your ideas, I especially like [name_u]Jesse[/name_u], I can’t believe I forgot that one! [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] and [name_u]Riley[/name_u] I like a lot, too.
Side question: [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that the name Truett would work on a girl? It has the same ending as [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and all the other ette names, so I think it would be kinda cute, but what do you think?
I think Truett can work on a girl, love the nickname [name_m]Tru[/name_m]/[name_u]True[/name_u]. I also like [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] on a girl. Nickname Becks/Bex. I think it’s adorable.
Oh wow, I love [name_m]Beckett[/name_m]! I used to have it on my boy’s list, but pretty far down so I totally forgot about it until just now. Becks is a wonderful nickname for it. Thanks!
I like with your previous favourites that they could have a more masculine twist like with [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] you could have the nickname [name_u]Romy[/name_u] or with [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] you could have the nickname [name_m]Pip[/name_m].
Wow these suggestions are fantastic. I like [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] a lot, I’ve never heard it before! I also like [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], and I hadn’t heard [name_u]Madigan[/name_u] for a long time, but it’s fantastic. [name_u]Scout[/name_u] is awesome, too. Seriously you guys thank you so much. These are great.
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f]
[name_u]Marley[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ro[/name_f] or [name_m]Rome[/name_m]
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u]
[name_u]Reilly[/name_u]
[name_f]Noa[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] (to be more girly, Rowanne)
[name_f]Andie[/name_f]
[name_u]Tatum[/name_u]
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
For the record, I love your original “girly” list and don’t think they’re over the top at all! You could give them more masculine nicknames or give them a feminine name that has a similar masculine name.
My favorite unisex names are: [name_f]Noa[/name_f], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u], and [name_u]Jameson[/name_u].
Some of this list I would never use for a specific gender or the other but could work as unisex.
I have a Mackenley.
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_f]Chesney[/name_f] are top of the list if we have another girl.
Maesyn
[name_f]Gracen[/name_f]/Gracyn
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u]
[name_f]Charleigh[/name_f]
[name_u]Leighton[/name_u]
[name_m]Clancey[/name_m]
[name_f]Fallyn[/name_f]/[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]
[name_u]Devyn[/name_u]
[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u]
[name_u]Dillon[/name_u]
[name_u]Chesley[/name_u]
[name_u]Dakota[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]/[name_u]Ellison[/name_u]
[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_m]Bentlee[/name_m]
