If you were interviewing a [name_u]Dove[/name_u]… or teaching a [name_u]Dove[/name_u]… Could you take her seriously?
I know a [name_f]Davita[/name_f] who goes by [name_u]Dove[/name_u]. She’s a lovely person.
I prefer [name_u]Dove[/name_u] as a middle name, but I know someone name [name_f]Dovie[/name_f] (her given name may have been [name_u]Dove[/name_u], I don’t know) who was definitely taken seriously.
I probably couldn’t. I’ve never met a [name_u]Dove[/name_u], but I don’t think I would want my nurse or lawyer to be named [name_u]Dove[/name_u].
I probably couldn’t. I’ve never met a [name_u]Dove[/name_u], but I don’t think I would want my nurse or lawyer to be named [name_u]Dove[/name_u]. That said, I think it could be a really sweet nickname, just not a professional full name.
I like it, but its quirky. I would [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] to see it as a middle name (instead of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or other over-worked one-syllable middles) and had it on my own list as a middle.
As a first I think some people will find it odd. I don’t dislike it, but I probably wouldn’t use it. Short for [name_f]Davida[/name_f] or [name_f]Doveva[/name_f], possibly. ([name_f]Doveva[/name_f] - do-VEH-va - is a real but very rare name that doesn’t actually mean anything to do with doves)
Sure I would! [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is just one syllable and has sort of a heavy, serious sound and feel to it, it kind of reminds me of [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. Definitely doesn’t seem like a silly or childish name to me. Plus, [name_u]Dove[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] is a pretty well-known celebrity with over 18 million followers on instagram, so it’s not like people will think the name is just a random word used as a name (like if you named your child [name_f]Canary[/name_f] or anything)
Yes I would
I would. [name_u]Dove[/name_u] has a gentle but sure sound and feel. I like to think names shouldn’t interfere with profession (although of course that’s not true), but I personally wouldn’t judge on [name_u]Dove[/name_u].
I think for me its a mn only.
That being said, I don’t think I would judge how professional someone is just by their name. If I were interviewing a [name_u]Dove[/name_u], I may notice the unusual name, but I would make my judgement based on who they are person.
I think I’d need a short adjustment period before I could take it seriously. People’s first impression may be a bit of shock but I think it can be overcome with little to no hassle. [name_m]Just[/name_m] naturally. It would get more questioning looks than say [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] but not be completely detrimental to future success like Tinkerbell (yes I know someone with this given name.)
I think [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is fine. For me, it falls into the same category as [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and [name_f]Lark[/name_f]. [name_u]Bird[/name_u] names that are usable on people, unlike say, Peacock.
Thanks ladies. I think I am over [name_u]Dove[/name_u]. It was just a flit of a thing. I think I agree with everyone suggesting it for a middle name. It’s so pretty in the middle, however my baby’s middle name will have the syllable “[name_u]Ray[/name_u]” as the first part of the name, whether that is [name_u]Rae[/name_u], [name_f]Raya[/name_f], Rayleen, [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]… lol and I don’t think [name_u]Dove[/name_u] sounds particular great with any of those as a double middle name paired with our last name.
Absolutely. It’s unusual, sure, but it strikes me as neither fussy, fanciful, nor childish. I really like the sound and imagery, and I don’t think you’d need to be a big personality to “pull off” [name_u]Dove[/name_u], which can be a danger of some unusual word names.
I could. There are all kinds of smart, successful people out there with off-the-beaten-track names, and I think [name_u]Dove[/name_u] could be one of them. It’s not outlandish, or silly, and in other cultures the word ‘dove’ is translated into words that have become names.
I think it’d work much better as a middle. It could act as a nickname for something longer as previous posters have said, or to maintain the same meaning you could use [name_f]Paloma[/name_f].
It would be very hard to [name_u]Dove[/name_u] seriously!
I think it works best in the middle spot, but I don’t feel it isn’t serious, just maybe not quite complete feeling. It don’t any different than [name_f]Lark[/name_f] or [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and I’ve seen those get lots of attention recently!
I don’t think so. It sounds too much like a pet name to me, like naming your kid [name_f]Honey[/name_f] or Sweetie.
