Hey everyone. So, needless to say, I’m writing a book, and I would like the main couple to have names that sound nice together. I’ve decided on [name_u]James[/name_u] for the boy, but I’m not sure about the girl.
I have a few ideas:
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexa[/name_f]
[name_u]Alexis[/name_u]
[name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
Opinions? Suggestions?
Thanks!
I like [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_u]James[/name_u], I’d definitely stick to something two syllable.
[name_f]Holly[/name_f] and [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Dana[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Luka[/name_m] and [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_f]Kaitlynn[/name_f] and [name_u]James[/name_u]
like any of those?
I would go with [name_f]Ada[/name_f] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. I think it really depends on personality or feeling the character gives you.
[name_u]James[/name_u] is such a generic timeless English male name that it’s really hard to say without more information. Is this 16th century [name_f]England[/name_f]? The rural American South during the antebellum period? 70s Hong Kong? What’s their ethnic and class background, and what else do you want to convey about them through their names?
I like [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].
I agree, I need to know more about what she’s like and the general setting of the story.
Going solely based off the names you’ve provided, while I like [name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_f]Ada[/name_f], I personally prefer to go with something that works for the characters age. If this is set in Victorian or Edwardian era, or in the future with adults who would currently be babies, then I think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] works wonderfully.
However, if it is set in current times based off people who were born sometime between 1970-2003 (I’m assuming they’re at least 16), then I think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] just doesn’t work for her age group. Not that there haven’t been [name_f]Ada[/name_f]’s born between those years, but it just wasn’t even a somewhat common name during those times and it’s not a name people connect to those era’s. You know what I’m saying?
Otherwise, I like [name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_u]Alexis[/name_u], and [name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. I also love the suggestion of [name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_f]Holly[/name_f]. I agree that two syllables seems to work best.
[name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_u]Dani[/name_u] ([name_f]Danielle[/name_f])
[name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]
[name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]/[name_f]Laura[/name_f]
