DH and I recently picked our #1 for for our baby girl due soon; [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. Family connection, love the video game, fan of literature… it hit everything on our list.
Fast forward, cousin has baby boy early, named him [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m].
Are we exempt from using [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] as our baby girl name moreso because of the Video game history?
(For those who don’t know, in the game [name_u]Legend[/name_u] of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], the main character is [name_m]Link[/name_m] and in some games is a romantic interest with the character [name_f]Zelda[/name_f].)
No, you should be fine. I agree with [name_f]Eryn[/name_f], if the kids were siblings, then it might be a bit odd, but it isn’t a huge deal for cousins.
Thank you both. I worry, for the tension between the two characters would be odd, like naming kids [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] and [name_m]Brad[/name_m], or Morticia and Gomez, for example…
But they’re both not your kids, though, so it isn’t like naming kids [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] and [name_m]Brad[/name_m] because for example, you’re only naming a kid [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] and your cousin’s kid is a [name_m]Brad[/name_m] - see how far-fetched it is? Honestly, [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is a great name and you love it, don’t worry about minor things and just go for it.
don’t worry about it! it’s only a cousin’s baby, not immediate family that your baby will be constantly around. and it’s also not an obvious connection between the names, especially since I don’t think anyone asociates [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] with the [name_u]Legend[/name_u] of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f].
The one child isn’t yours though, they’re a cousin, so I second what @eoxima and @namergirl3 have said - use [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] and not worry about it. I used to play the [name_u]Legend[/name_u] of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] games and my fiancé is somewhat of a video game expert - yet it still took me 20 minutes to figure out how [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] and [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] could be connected.
I didn’t even understand why it might be an issue until I got to the end of the post. I was thinking “why is this a problem? [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] and [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] have nothing to do with each other.” I do kind of see it now, but unless they use [name_m]Link[/name_m] as a nn I don’t see people making that connection. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if they do, I don’t think its a problem.
