Crazy 'bout Chrysanthemum

I think it’s really sweet - but I wouldn’t use it as a first name because it’s just too hard to spell. I consider myself to be a pretty literate person and tbh I wouldn’t know for sure how to spell it without looking it up…

I totally see your motivation for it and I know there are lots of other names that are also tricky to spell, but I feel like this one is the double whammy or unfamiliar to lots of people and extremely complex spelling-wise.

Sorry, but it’s just way too much for me, especially in a sibset with a [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_f]Maria[/name_f].

I love your floral theme and really admire your taste, but I think there are so many more attractive and wearable botanical options out there — including some great ones in your signature.

I know you don’t want Larkspur to feel left out, but her name feels unique but totally wearable and accessible to me — I think you’d be in danger of creating another outlier with this one.

I do agree that it could be a fun middle for a super simple, classic first name though ([name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Liv[/name_f], etc. — nothing too out there!)

It’s beautiful but too long. I like what the other posters say. Leave it at Chrysanthe. Or use it as a middle.

It’s okay but in reality it’s long and your child might hate you for it later on.

Maybe shorten it to [name_u]Chris[/name_u] or use it as the middle name?

No one cares but I keep reading it as Chrsy an the mum.

If you really want it as a first name
Chrsyanthemum [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Geneva[/name_f]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Barbara[/name_f]

Or if you want it as a middle name
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f]
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f]

I’m from the usa and I never heard of the book, though I’m not sure what country it’s from.

Good luck. I hope I helped at least a little.

I love it! It can always be shortened and gives your girl lots options if she decides she wants to go by a different nickname when she gets older. Besides the floral root is lovely and it fits in very nicely with her siblings!

Me too! I love [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f], it’s an honour for my grandmother. I don’t think you’re crazy because there’s some stunning nicknames in there that make it more usable: Chryssy or [name_f]Chrissy[/name_f], [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Kizzy[/name_f], [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_f]Emi[/name_f]…

I have [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]/[name_f]Eve[/name_f] on my list, another user had [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f] I believe Chrysanthe is super cute but idk it doesn’t have the same [name_u]MAGIC[/name_u] as [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f].

[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Agata[/name_f] or [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Ada[/name_f] I think also work really (i mean with a user like lovelace I HAD to mention [name_f]Ada[/name_f] but I think it’s actually very elegant)

I like [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f]. My problem with the alternative Chrysanthe is that I always read [name_f]Christine[/name_f].
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Vita[/name_f]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Anita[/name_f]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Ana[/name_f]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_u]Caro[/name_u]
[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]

[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f], while 4 syllables like many other names, just seems toooooo loooonnnnggg. And it’s a mouthful and doesn’t flow nicely as do other 4 syllable names like [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] or [name_f]Julianna[/name_f].
