Create a Family (CAF) With a Twist

mw: irresponsible parenting mentioned

[name_u]Harmony[/name_u] " [name_f]Hera[/name_f] " [name_f]Angela[/name_f] [name_u]Porter[/name_u] (39) is Birdie’s other mom and Levity’s fiancé, soon-to-be wife. Waiting to actually wed is something that hasn’t bothered [name_f]Hera[/name_f] at all, as she always felt she’d like to have a child before tying the knot, given that parenting compatability is so important for couples. This has proven to not be a concern for her with [name_f]Levity[/name_f] though, as they’ve found themselves adapting to being mom’s to [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] with as much ease as is possible with her needs as a member of the deaf community. It’s hugely important to [name_f]Hera[/name_f] that her daughter doesn’t feel anything is impossible or kept out of reach, with Birdie’s development of confidence being hugely important to her.

Something that the honeymoon will allow though is an in-depth discussion for [name_f]Levity[/name_f] and [name_f]Hera[/name_f] about continuing to grow their family. Having another child has come up with more and more frequency over the past year for [name_f]Hera[/name_f], which isn’t what she wants broadcast in front of [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] right now, as her daughter feeling replaced or maligned terrified her as a concept. [name_f]Hera[/name_f] and her brother - who Birdie’s going to be staying with - were often second to their parent’s dating lives following a messy divorce, and that sense of needing to earn approval still plagues her on occasion currently.

As she works as a HR manager for a retail store chain, [name_f]Hera[/name_f] is greeted by employees with imposter syndrome on occasion, but the exposure helps in a sense, reminding her she’s not alone in these thoughts and feelings. Her older brother has also be a huge source of help, knowing exactly what the crux of Hera’s anxiety is, even if his experiences have manifested in different worries. It wasn’t at all a shock to her that he learned ASL when [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] received her diagnosis as deaf, as that supportive nature is part of him thoroughly [and really it’s present in [name_f]Hera[/name_f] too, she just doesn’t credit herself]. What the siblings can agree on is that their nana is who they inherited it from: she was always there for them growing up and still is this now - being alive and well for her age; as well as adored by her great-grandkids.
