[name_u]Larkin[/name_u] ’ [name_u]Lark[/name_u] ’ [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_u]Porter[/name_u] (15) is Zeke’s eldest child and Merritt’s older sister. Unlike some of her friends and classmates, [name_u]Lark[/name_u] never baulks at having [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] wanting to keep company with her, having always loved to include her siblings (a bit more awkward for their brother unfortunately). She was asking her parents for a younger sibling from not long after she began talking, so when [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] arrived, [name_u]Lark[/name_u] was absolutely delighted - a sentiment that was shared when their brother was born as well.
In spite of how much she cherishes her parents, [name_u]Lark[/name_u] also enjoys the freedoms summer camp brings, crediting it to helping build her confidence. Now at high school, she’s managed to carve out a popular reputation for herself, even though she shares her dad’s love of comics and superheroes - something that once would’ve been considered incompatible for a social up-and-comer. [name_u]Lark[/name_u] also credits this to her participation in the debate team and being taken under the wing of one of the student council members, who she shares a sisterly dynamic with.
While she was once mortified by her dad’s sense of humour, Lark’s now the least affronted by it, something that can spark bickering with her brother and sister when she doesn’t respond with outrage to his latest pun. Being the oldest does mean [name_u]Lark[/name_u] has a protective quality where they’re concerned though. She has the strongest memories of her parents split: it wasn’t contentious by any standards but the adjustment was difficult for her, and she struggled with the idea she might have to pick a side.
When her dad was struggling with his addiction, [name_u]Lark[/name_u] became especially close to her mom, who she still confides in first and foremost about anything on her mind. She’s a beautician and [name_u]Lark[/name_u] has been learning nail art from her more recently, having plans that her next birthday party will revolve around this, so she’s determined to show [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] what to do so her sister isn’t excluded, and she’s also looking for an alternative to her brother doesn’t feel pushed out again (easier said than done).
