Casek Nathan Berkovich (40) is the final uncle of the Feldsted sisters’, husband of Ewa and father of three himself. As many eldest siblings are prone to do, Casek often found himself worrying in some capacity where his brothers’ and sister were concerned; sometimes more so than their parents outwardly expressed. He always knows when something’s up, even if it’s unspoken, and while Yaron dealt with the fallout of a situation, Casek was always the one to perform crisis control preemptively. This has continued into how he handles fatherhood: Casek just has a sixth sense for when his younger kids [one’s eleven, the other eight] are on the verge of conflict over something petty - usually a nonsensical issue as far as their parents are concerned - and quickly ensures he’s able to speak to them both before any scrapping begins. They love one another dearly, but Avielle’s blatantly the one of the trio they both have the easiest relationship with, as her being older than both of them means she’s not as into the same things as them, so there’s less chances of a clash. What the kids can agree on though is he’s most definitely not an embarrassing dad, an honourable title Casek ensures is upheld through school events and band practices within the home.
Running his own ethical business is something he’s surprisingly ideal for, given his nervousness throughout childhood. While personal matters can overwhelm Casek at times - thanks to how much it pains him to see his loved one’s troubled - he’s very adept at handling any kind of work based stressed, be it employee drama [usually about dating] or customers deciding to unleash their inner Karen. He has a zero tolerance policy for any kind of verbal abuse - you don’t get fist fights in shoe shops thankfully - and will stand by his employees unless they’re truly in the wrong [which has only happened a handful of times, the majority of which being honest mistakes]. Jokes of nepotism aside too, Casek’s always clear that if any of his nieces, nephews or noans [the term the family have adapted for non-binary members] - both from his siblings or Ewa’s - want work experience or a more permanent job at the shop, he’s happy to take them on; although not at the expense of existing staff. Ensuring that everyone’s well treated is extremely important to Casek, and he goes above and beyond given how it feels hypocritical running an ethical business but operating as a tyrant: something he encountered on his work placement experience in high school.
It was Casek who got Liora in contact with her lawyer, someone he’s known from college, albeit they’re more friendly acquaintances who have mutual friends - and her daughter belongs to the music scene alongside Avielle. He’s done his best to support his sister throughout this difficult time, while ensuring tempers aren’t flared, although this has proved especially tricky for Casek as Ewa’s family have been dragged into things thanks to the words of Mr. Feldsted; something he knows was purely done out of spite, as he always seemed to have an inferiority complex when hearing about Ewa’s brother. Thanks to Galilee and his middle child being the same age, they’ve been spending a lot more time together recently, and he lets his nieces sleepover whenever they want, so Yaron, Maci and their kids get some space if required. Given his emotional investment, Casek has taken a step back from the legal element of the family conflict - he doesn’t know if he could refrain from firing back, thanks to how much his wife and her family mean to him - but this has given him more time to convince Rewan to step back slightly from his workaholic tendencies and actually engage in socialising once more. While he admires his brother’s dedication and knows the students greatly benefit from his work ethic, he doesn’t want to see Rewan deny himself more relaxing forms of contentment.
One of Casek’s longest serving employees - his general manager actually, who looks after the store when he and Ewa are on holiday or preoccupied with other matters - is rumoured to have a crush on his brother, but it’s much more Maci’s style to play matchmaker, and it’s not like she knows of this…right?
