[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] Mayes (55) is Vicky’s mother. She’s loved as a Literature teacher and close with her family. She supports all the staff in her school. When people are down, she brings them up. She served as a substitute for another for many years prior. [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] and her brother were often mediated by her but now she’s happy to see them get along. They shine in their careers and she’s so proud.
[name_m]Alistair[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] “Al” [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] (43) is one of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] Mayes’ closest colleagues at the school, working as a [name_m]History[/name_m] teacher. Having been at the school for about a decade, [name_m]Al[/name_m] is known for his charismatic teaching style and love for storytelling, which he weaves into his lessons to bring historical events to life. Students often call him “Mr. B” and regard him as approachable, funny, and passionate. His sense of humour and easygoing demeanour complement Matilda’s nurturing personality, making them a dynamic duo in the staff room.
[name_m]Al[/name_m] came to teaching later in life, starting his career in his mid-30s after spending years working as a curator in museums. While he loved the artefacts and the stories they held, he found his true calling in sharing that passion with younger generations. Teaching has brought him a sense of fulfilment he never knew he was missing.
[name_f]Roselaine[/name_f] “ [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] “ [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] (50) is Al’s older sister, who also happens to be the single mother of Vicky’s boyfriend! [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] teaches language arts but doesn’t work for the same school however, she actually works as a community college professor. She feels people put too much stigma around community colleges when this is what shaped her life. [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] is very pro-education and her son loves feeling smarter for it. But she’s not a shaming person at all, and wouldn’t have seen him as lesser no matter what he did after graduating from school. [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] and [name_m]Al[/name_m] are both intellects and although naturally [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] was that smart-aleck know-it-all older sister growing up, she toned down significantly. She and her brother still joke about this though. While her son is a great piano player and is multilingual, [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] knew these were both things he genuinely enjoyed. Sometimes [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] and her son lose motivation and have to be hyped up before doing something, but both know it doesn’t mean they’re giving up.
[name_m]Rossie[/name_m] feels [name_m]Al[/name_m] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are good buddies and great teachers at their school. [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] wishes sometimes that she was more easygoing like her brother, but enjoys how he always knows how to balance out things. [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] doesn’t like to get into why she’s single or why she raised her son single. She wants to get out there but is waiting for the right person when it comes to commitment. Her son was also the same and thankfully he’s found a lovely girlfriend [name_f]Vicky[/name_f]. [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] loves that her son sees [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] as a strong person, unlike some of the toxic men she’s met who would never admit strength in a woman. [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] and [name_m]Al[/name_m] both love to watch historical movies, though she knows her brother refuses to watch them if they’re too historically inaccurate. And she’s the same way! [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] loves films in general but she’s rather picky and critical, which is why she’s not the best person to spend time at the movies with. Still, she knows a great flick when she sees one and while her life isn’t a movie, she strives to keep it entertaining.
[name_m]Kieran[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Benett[/name_m] (25) is [name_m]Rossie[/name_m] 's son and [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] 's boyfriend. He is making a career as a piano player uploading piano covers of grunge songs by Hole, [name_f]Nirvana[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_m]Jam[/name_m] on youtube, [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] found him on the facebook group " Gothic Fashion for All Genders " where [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] took her to Hot Topic so she could buy a present for her friend. This year for [name_m]Christmas[/name_m] [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] bought [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] a pearl necklace and he’s going to watch her reaction closely so as to figure out if she would like a pearl ring as her engagement ring. Their relationship only started a year ago but [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] believes in the idea of marriage even though his previous girlfriend said “no” to him and broke it off shortly after the failed public proposal. [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] will never makie the same mistake again and makes sure to keep things private when it comes to his plans towards [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] . He is about to have a job interview for a piano player in the musical theathre… where his would-be fiancee works as an actress, but he doesn’t know it. [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] would like himself and [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] to have a big house with a garden, a golden retriever and at least two children, preferably sons ( he always wanted a baby brother as a kid). He is aware that not everyhting in life has to be planned and [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] 's easy going approach helps him lessen his expectations.
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] “ [name_m]Louie[/name_m] “ [name_m]Shane[/name_m] Mayes (25) is Vicky’s younger brother, who knows how serious she is with [name_m]Kieran[/name_m]. Admittedly he used to argue with her growing up, mainly since he never really liked having her do everything before he did. He did learn how to ride a bike before she did, which his kiddie self bragged way way too much about. Which he’s settled down and humbled himself over knowing that it’s not his entire life. They’re happier now and [name_m]Louie[/name_m] is honestly not surprised Vicky’s gotten so much closer with [name_m]Kieran[/name_m]. He knew [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] would likely find love before him, and also he’s worried he’d make things awkward for them. Let alone how awkward he’d make things if he had his own relationship. [name_m]Louie[/name_m] thought it was funny that [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] had a failed public proposal, which Vicky’s convinced him it’s not funny. He never brings it up in front of [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] though. [name_m]Louie[/name_m] is the kind of person who often feels if things are funny to him, that it shouldn’t be a big deal to anyone else. It helps him laugh off his own embarrassing moments. But he’s learning from his older sister not to assume everyone would feel the same way about their embarrassing moments, let alone others laughing at them. Though [name_m]Louie[/name_m] would rather laugh with them.
[name_m]Louie[/name_m] knows somewhat about the musical theatre that [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] wants to be part of. He’s genuinely rooting for [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] here and doesn’t know either than his ex-fiancée was there. It would be worrisome when [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] finds out, because it would give off the impression that [name_m]Louie[/name_m] knew and wanted [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] to feel uncomfortable. But that’s so far from the truth – [name_m]Louie[/name_m] truly doesn’t know at all. [name_m]Louie[/name_m] himself has acted in a musical theatre before but only once, considering it more of a one-and-done rather than a true passion. While [name_m]Louie[/name_m] and [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] are rather different, he’s trying to get along more since he senses [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] wants an active brother-in-law, another male figure in his life who isn’t seen as “above him”. [name_m]Louie[/name_m] knows [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] is an only child so his life may come off as different compared to [name_m]Louie[/name_m], a younger sibling. While [name_m]Louie[/name_m] overstepped in his laughter at Kieran’s expense, he doesn’t actually want to harass [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] and is genuinely against harassment. It may have only been one time, but it was a big time for [name_m]Kieran[/name_m]. [name_m]Louie[/name_m] currently works in electronics repair with a close female friend, though they’re not dating, and she’s actually pregnant by someone else she’s close with. What’s really difficult is that she really wants to keep and raise her child, but she’s honestly not financially stable at all. It’s been something on his mind from time to time, even though he’s glad he’s not the father in this situation, since [name_m]Louie[/name_m] knows this man is stressed out too. [name_m]Louie[/name_m] knows a bit about Kieran’s desire for a big house and multiple children and supports it, but he hopes that they’re financially stable enough before making a big move. [name_m]Little[/name_m] does [name_m]Louie[/name_m] know what secret plans [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] may or may not have for Christmas…
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Everett[/name_m] Mayes (55) is [name_m]Louie[/name_m] and Vicky’s father. He is glad [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] is dating [name_m]Kieran[/name_m]. He is more serious, and doesn’t really care for [name_m]Louie[/name_m] laughing at bad times, but knows his kids deserve to be treated right. He is a district attorney and is very savvy. He and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are very close and he hopes the same foundation is there for [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] and [name_m]Kieran[/name_m].
[name_f]Chantelle[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [Mayers] [name_m]Bassett[/name_m] (55) is Charles’ twin sister and mother of [name_m]Louie[/name_m] and Vickys’ cousins, always trying to make time for her family, in spite of her own busy career as a head curator of a local museum. When compared to her brother, [name_f]Chantelle[/name_f] is obviously the softer touch of the pair, in spite of her fierce dedication to professionalism. She’s passionate about those she loves, her work and her hobbies, traits that mean she does easily make friends thanks to her capacity for loyalty, but [name_f]Chantelle[/name_f] isn’t blind to her own vulnerability in this sense.
When she was younger, she was very much a people pleaser and didn’t have much of a backbone when it came to voicing her own preferences or wants. [name_f]Chantelle[/name_f] also lived in the shadow of her big siblings when she was younger, something she isn’t resentful about now but is definitely received to have escaped. She and Charles’ sister’s an insurance agent and childfree, something [name_f]Chantelle[/name_f] respects, although her children bemoan this as kids as they wanted more cousins to play with at family gatherings.
Earlier this year, [name_f]Chantelle[/name_f] became a grandmother when her older child welcomed a baby girl, something she’s been ecstatic about. Although the pregnancy wasn’t strictly planned, the stability of the relationship was definitely enough to accommodate the arrival of her granddaughter, who [name_f]Chantelle[/name_f] is always eager to babysit when possible. It’s made her tease [name_m]Charles[/name_m] about when he has a grandkid of his own, but she knows when that time comes, he and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] will be amazing grandparents.
[name_f]Agacia[/name_f] [name_f]Haley[/name_f] [name_m]Bassett[/name_m] (26) is the younger of Chantelle’s two children. As a child, she never understood why her aunt didn’t want children, but now they’re very close. [name_f]Agacia[/name_f] hasn’t quite counted out the possibility of kids – in fact, she does at some point in her life, but often denies it. Being an aunt is cool to her and she will always relate to her childfree aunt on this, even though she doesn’t quite prefer to stay childfree. She doesn’t need children at the moment and enjoys her career as a vintage pin-up model, which she feels she handles much better without juggling a kid through this. [name_f]Agacia[/name_f] loves the style and enjoys vintage fashion, admiring thrift shops that put the focus on these styles. [name_m]Even[/name_m] clothes that are considered “grandma clothes” are no problem for her, because she loves altering clothes just as much. [name_f]Agacia[/name_f] used to go by nicknames like [name_f]Sugar[/name_f] or [name_f]Candy[/name_f] but now she doesn’t, feeling that sounded more like a stripper nickname. [name_f]Agacia[/name_f] isn’t that type of person and would rather not be assumed like that.
Admittedly during her early career, it was hard to get by. She was in college, which she felt was a “safety net” if her pin-up model career didn’t work out. Naturally seeing people in her line of work was harder than it would be in the nifty 1950s or the 1920s burlesque. But she truly feels those styles should be back; in the 1950s, everything was made to last. And it’s the 2020s now, so why not bring back the roaring ‘20s? [name_f]Agacia[/name_f] is very enthusiastic as a female and loves inspiring “girl power” with women in a fun and engaging way. [name_f]Agacia[/name_f] doesn’t want this to be men vs. women gender debate against [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] however. She wants people to be happy with their gender, biological or not, since she’s worked with transgender pin-up models too. She loves having a niece and will inspire her niece that she can do anything and that she’s a little queen. [name_m]Or[/name_m] a princess, if the baby grows up preferring that instead. [name_f]Agacia[/name_f] grew up wanting to be queen while the others preferred to be princesses. She always joked with [name_f]Chantelle[/name_f] that being the younger sibling “sucked” but deep down, she doesn’t care about birth order. She truthfully can’t imagine being an only child and having an older sibling means she’s never had to be one. Naturally she’s close with [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] and [name_m]Louie[/name_m], since they are her only maternal cousins, and she can’t help but wonder what step [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] and [name_m]Kieran[/name_m] are in their relationship.
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]James[/name_m] [name_m]Bassett[/name_m] (55) is Chantelle’s husband and father of two beautiful children all grown up. He prefers the present day in 2024 but admires [name_f]Agacia[/name_f] for keeping up with the present and reliving the past. There are many things he wants to bring back and he hopes his career only pushes this forward. He likes all his in-laws and respects their decisions whether to have children. He is resourceful and wise, desiring to further push this as a grandpa.
Warning for aforementioned car accident (not fatal).
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zorya[/name_f] [name_f]Monika[/name_f] Catic (28) is a co-worker to [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], who feels the same vibe in liking the present but also retro. She’s someone who likes to prepare for the years forward. And someone not[name_f][/name_f] to turn her views 100 years back. As a disabled lesbian woman, she’s found her place to be happy, but she’s had things get her down. Things not associated with her disability or sexuality, but something more worrisome…like the car crash she was in. A self-driving car slammed into her truck and had the other car been heavier than her truck, it would have been much worse. [name_f]Zorya[/name_f] didn’t even see the car until it slammed into hers. She didn’t really care for being in the news over that, since she’d much rather be there for something more positive. So she feels bad that this inadvertently scared her cousins. [name_f]Zorya[/name_f] is an only child and her only cousins on the Catic side are [name_f]Una[/name_f] and [name_m]Rainer[/name_m], so she relates with the Bassetts feeling incomplete with just the Mayes siblings.
[name_f][/name_f]Surprisingly Zorya’s prosthetic limb was actually not[name_f][/name_f] from the car accident. She actually had it prior to that, in fact, she was born with it. She knows people assume she lost it then although nobody in her house would think that seeing she has a lot of baby pictures of herself. She did damage her original prosthetic leg in the crash ironically and had to get a new one. [name_f]Zorya[/name_f] has had multiple prosthetics in her life but she loves the one she currently has, with no intent to get a different one now. Getting back her positivity was harder, since she was afraid to drive after that moment. Before, she used to love driving and knows that having a limb difference won’t take that away from her. But Zorya’s gotten her spirit back, and even more so with the help of Chantelle’s eldest, even driving the couple to prenatal care and hospital visits before their daughter was born.

[name_f][/name_f]Zǐ Ruì " [name_f]Zee[/name_f] " [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] Finch-Luo, nee Luo (31) is a good friend of [name_f]Zorya[/name_f], who met thanks to them both belonging to local the LGTBQIA+ events committee. It was formed several years prior, but currently Zees’ wife is the main organiser, something they’re very proud of. [name_f]Zee[/name_f] themself works as a piercer, joking that they ended up getting their parents approval of this as it meant they’d stop getting so many piercings themself.
[name_f][/name_f]When [name_f]Zorya[/name_f] was involved in the accident, [name_f]Zee[/name_f] helped fundraise to make sure she wasn’t put under financial pressure after getting the necessary physical therapy, which ended up being through a local craft market promoting independent artists. The money raised was split between several causes, but [name_f]Zee[/name_f] ensured that [name_f]Zorya[/name_f] was prioritised thanks to the emotional toll of the accident as well.
[name_f][/name_f]Currently [name_f]Zee[/name_f] and their wife are planning on starting a family. They’re preparing to foster a second-generation Chinese-American toddler; the placement having been decided because [name_f]Zee[/name_f] themself is mixed race. Their dad’s Chinese-American and their mom’s white, with their culture not only being important to them, but something they’re always eager to share with their loved ones’.
[name_f]Anabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] Finch-Luo [Finch] (29) is Zee’s wife. She became the main organizer of the committee because she was always very outgoing and friendly. [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f] is thrilled to meet their child. [name_m]Ever[/name_m] since she was a teenager, she knew she wanted to adopt or foster. It may have been influenced by the fact that her mom was also raised in the foster care.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Anabelle[/name_f] is optimistic and future-focused. She has a podcast about LGTBQIA+ representation because she felt misrepresented in media. Her hobbies include candle-making and stand up comedy as well. She tends to speak in rhymes when she is overly exited which [name_f]Zee[/name_f] finds kind of cute. [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f] enjoys indie music and small coffee shops. She hates negativity and dull places. She works as a guide in art gallery.
[name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Waverly[/name_f] [name_m]Finch[/name_m] (28) is Anabelle’s sister and Zee’s sister-in-law. She’s also involved in the artists’ committee in helping [name_f]Zorya[/name_f] in the recovery. She is openly bisexual and has considered adoption one day. Currently works in helping the system, knowing sometimes it’s helped tremendously and other times it’s been traumatic for children. She knows that family isn’t just about biology and personally doesn’t want to get pregnant. She’s worried people would ask her why on a personal decision. Her fave hobby is wading and swimming in natural water, being adept at snorkeling. Zorya’s cousin [name_m]Rainer[/name_m] likes to scuba dive and she’s considered that too. Her mother is her role model.
[name_f]Rachael[/name_f] [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_m]Finch[/name_m] [Weller] (56) is mother of [name_f]Coral[/name_f] and [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f]. She’s always been the so-called “cool” mom and is content with that. [name_f]Rachael[/name_f] never overly spoiled her daughters, but made sure they trusted her. As teenagers, [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Coral[/name_f] were always able to call their mother if something happened, whether it was a party gone wrong or school problems. All three now socialize as friends, gossiping and sharing secrets.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Rachael[/name_f] remembers almost nothing about her father and struggles to conjure up a vague image of her mother. She changed several foster homes until she ended up in the last one, where she spent the years from 12 to 18. The family took in other foster children, too, and had some of their own. [name_f]Rachael[/name_f] maintains a good relationship with them, although it is not always possible to meet up often.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Rachael[/name_f] works as a marketing coordinator. She is concerned about her appearance and took a long time to choose the perfect hairstyle. Nevertheless, [name_f]Rachael[/name_f] doesn’t shy away from getting older. The cult of youth is getting on her nerves.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] Vien [name_f]Joy[/name_f] (56) is Zee’s mother and Rachael’s in-law. She always looks her best as a handbag designer, and she loves to experiment with fashion. She has an appreciation for aesthetics, and she always looks fashionable but still comfortable. Her body isn’t perfect [name_f][/name_f]- she has stretch marks that never went away since her pregnancy. She is comfortable in her own skin, and she loves herself just the way she is. Overall, she is an attractive woman with a friendly and warm disposition. Her husband is Chinese and proud and she loves to celebrate culture [name_f][/name_f]- not just skin color. She wants [name_f]Rachael[/name_f] to know she is here for her. Rachael’s story educates her on what life is like fostered.
[name_f][/name_f]Warning for chemical pregnancy and rainbow babies.[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Lupita[/name_f] [name_f]Mía[/name_f] [Chavez] [name_f]Rivera[/name_f] (56) is a friend of [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and co-worker of [name_f]Rachael[/name_f]. She’s a mother of two children herself, [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] and [name_m]Leon[/name_m], and is from an extended family of multiple siblings and in-laws herself. She has always been overbearing of her children, though she’s had to accept that she’s not going to know everything about them. Lupita’s experienced the loss of twins in a chemical pregnancy before[name_f][/name_f] giving birth to [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f], and followed by [name_m]Leon[/name_m], both born healthy. While [name_m]Leon[/name_m] isn’t technically a rainbow baby by definition, being born after [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f], [name_f]Lupita[/name_f] always considered them both this way. She and her husband always wanted two children before they even conceived any. Naturally she and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are both supportive of one another’s post-baby bodies, and the natural sides to life. While she’s very supportive of people getting their wishes on pregnancy, she’s never considered the placement of [name_f]Zee[/name_f] and Anabelle’s toddler as “any lesser”. Naturally she has a sense they’ll be very attached to this tot, and she wishes the best for all three of them. None of Lupita’s children, nieces, or nephews on her side of the family have children of their own yet, though none of them have ever explicitly stated they didn’t want any.
[name_f][/name_f]Lupita’s made a decision that she can’t help but consider difficult, but also worth it. [name_f]Lupita[/name_f] has accepted [name_m]Leon[/name_m] and [name_f]Una[/name_f] being in a relationship. Naturally, [name_m]Leon[/name_m] is an adult and may date whoever he wants without his mother’s approval, but it means a lot to him that she would approve it. He often worried in life that nobody would support a big move like this in his life because of how many were so overprotective. [name_f]Lupita[/name_f] still has some self-awareness that her big family could intimidate the Catics, and she’s not the type to change just because people are afraid. But she’s serious that she doesn’t want to anyone come off as a snooty family who won’t accept people who are different. [name_f]Lupita[/name_f] is also intimidating due to her love of very[name_f][/name_f] spicy foods – if smelling it doesn’t make one’s eyes water, it’s not spicy enough. She loves acquired tastes and a “disgusting food” for her isn’t something too edgy, it’s something too bland. [name_f]Lupita[/name_f] and [name_f]Rachael[/name_f] are both the same way about hairstyles, especially Lupita’s worries of ever getting a “Karen hair”. But she, [name_f]Clara[/name_f], and [name_f]Rachael[/name_f] rock their greys and they all have great families to jive with.

TW: racism mentioned
Lè Yáng " Leyton " Luo (56) is Claras’ husband and father of Zee, who knows Lupita because of her friendship with his wife. Sometimes she does get on his nerves a bit because of her overbearing tendencies, but the fact she’s always been such a good friend to his wife means Leyton can handle Lupitas’ quirks, helped by the fact she’s been so positive about Zee and Annabelles’ plans for their own family. Leyton also isn’t ignorant to how much his wife has supported Lupita over the years, and her recognition of Clara’s wonderful spirit is something he cherishes.
A first generation immigrant, Leyton moved to the US when he was a child after his father got a new job. It was a big change for him, and he actually spent his youth until high school wanting to return to Nanjing, where he spent his earliest years. Leyton faced quite a lot of racism when he was adjusting. Most of it wasn’t aggressive, but more in how people made lots of assumptions and spread rumours, making him draw into his own shell more and more.
When Leyton met his best friend though, a fellow first generation immigrant, he began finding ways of finding positives. He became much more open about his culture and did his best to educate others, which also helped to deal with those whose bigotry was never going to go away. Now he’s an adult, with a long, successful career in law, Leyton has no problem telling anyone with prejudice beliefs where they can shove it, and he’s especially proud of how Zee is so open in their own expression. It’s everything he hoped for when he first thought about having a child.
1000 posts?
Mingzhu “June” Luo (52) is Leyton’s younger sister. Assimilation in a new country came hard to her as a child. She also had the misfortune of running into a group of girls in her middle school class who were mean to her. Nevertheless, things normalized over time. [name_f]June[/name_f] celebrates her culture but is not sad that she and her family had to relocate.
[name_f][/name_f]Like [name_f]Lupita[/name_f], [name_f]June[/name_f] is very positive about [name_f]Zee[/name_f] and [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f] having a baby. She knows [name_f]Zee[/name_f] quite well, and believes that they will fulfill all their plans, from parenthood to their committee work and their professional route as a piercer. [name_f]June[/name_f] herself also recently became a grandmother. Her daughter, the eldest of two children, has a newborn baby. [name_f]June[/name_f] adores her grandchild and always babysits for her daughter when it is needed.
[name_f][/name_f]June’s husband is an ethnic Chinese like herself. They met in college, though both were in different departments. [name_f]June[/name_f] has a degree in librarian science and is working in the local library. This quiet but also demanding job, which requires clear organization and order, suits her perfectly.
[name_f][/name_f]Some people call [name_f]June[/name_f] contemplative. Since her school days, she has kept a diary where she writes down her thoughts, observations and favourite quotes.

[name_f][/name_f]Enam ’ [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] ’ [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] Quansah (56) is someone [name_f]June[/name_f] knows well, being Leyton’s best friend [name_f][/name_f]- the first person he properly bonded with [name_f][/name_f]- and a close affiliate of the Luo family. [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] was born shortly before his parents emigrated from Ghana: he arrived at 2 months old, and his older sister was spending most of her time still complaining about losing only child status. This is something he still teases her about to this day, often pointing out how [name_m]Leyton[/name_m] never had issues with June’s arrival when he wants to receive an especially long eye roll from her.
[name_f][/name_f]Making others laugh is something that comes easily and naturally to [name_m]Eddie[/name_m], and really it was his strongest coping mechanism when it came to adjusting to how people asked him similar questions to what [name_m]Leyton[/name_m] was getting. The fact he was in Ghana for a shorter period of time also meant less expectations greeted him, but it didn’t ease how this made [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] feel. Humour was the best thing he had to combat everything he was challenged and impacted by, up until the point he and [name_m]Leyton[/name_m] met, finally finding someone to relate to and confide in. For how he can seem a bit disconnected from comforting people at times, [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] uses making others laugh and smile as the main way of trying to help them.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Eddie[/name_m] spent his early 20s living and working in [name_m]Tema[/name_m], where his parents were based before they moved the family overseas. He’s actually been out there a few times with Junes’ husband for work related purposes, as they’re both involved in the advertising industry, and [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] wanted to further incorporate Ghanian motifs into one of their campaigns. It was also while abroad that he met his wife, who’s a pilot, having three children with her who are all a few years younger than [name_f]Zee[/name_f].

[name_f]Happy[/name_f] [name_m]Christmas[/name_m] to all who celebrate from the UK
[name_f]Noura[/name_f] [name_f]Amina[/name_f] Quansah (26) is one of Eddie’s triplet children. [name_f]Noura[/name_f] is open-minded and values exploration and plurality of opinions. She has a good relationship with her parents and siblings. [name_f]Noura[/name_f] thinks her dad is cool for his adventurous spirit and the variety of jobs he tried.
[name_f][/name_f]Although her parents are fairly progressive, extended family remain fairly traditional. This gnaws at [name_f]Noura[/name_f] as she thinks she may be bisexual. A few days ago, she couldn’t hold back and DMed [name_f]Zee[/name_f] to talk about her identity struggles. The girls don’t know each other well and had only met a couple of times, but [name_f]Noura[/name_f] felt a little better after their talk. She’s sure her parents will love her no matter what. Especially since relationships aren’t her main focus yet, no matter who she builds them with.
[name_f][/name_f]Finding herself took [name_f]Noura[/name_f] a long time. She now works as a travel agent and she loves it, although she’s not sure it’s her dream job. Her friends think she’s funny and easy going. She loves eye-catching clothes, groovy jewellery, bizarre houseplants and painting on glass.
