Create A Family (With A Twist!)

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] " [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] " [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] Crofton (24) is someone Inesa’s contemplating talking to about her predicament but for understandable reasons this isn’t straightforward. [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is the penpal of her sister who started contact as part of her sociology degree, with the outcome being preparing the other woman for life once she completes her sentence; but this has subsequently blossomed into a deeper connection, with there being some romantic undertones creeping into their regular correspondence. Coming from a family unanimous with the dangers of indulgence, Birdie’s grandparents infamously spent their fortune in reckless abandon during the early days of their marriage and after a series of disastrous investments, they were flat broke by the time her father (their second child) was born. Their antics received little sympathy from extended relatives, and it was only her great-aunt - who was scared for the safety of her niece and nephews - that ended up stepping in to provide some help.

Subsequently, Birdie’s family dynamic is very confusing when first explained. Her great-aunt raised her father, aunt and uncle - as it was obvious her grandfather was busy wallowing in self-pity while her grandmother went into complete denial - and she’s the woman [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and her own siblings grew up calling ‘grandma’ as she all but officially adopted their dad. He runs a successful newspaper now, but is very conscious about how he handles money - being a little strict sometimes, which her mom has to temper - thanks to all he knows about his parents. Seeing the way the upper echelons handled the scandal and its fallout fascinated [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] from a young age, and people truly are her passion, especially from a socioeconomic standpoint.

Known for her approachability and natural warmth, she credits this to her mother - an infinitely charming person who came from abject poverty - this is what made her so successful in the penpal scheme offered by the university she attended; however she was careful about who she was paired up with, as Birdie’s honest about being soft hearted and more than a little sensitive. She jokingly blames her older sister - who’s trans and always protected her siblings, even when she got abuse for coming out - but [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] always confides in her about the ongoings of life; including the feelings she suspects she’s developing for her penpal. The circumstances leading to the other woman’s incarceration disappoint but fail to surprise her given her studies, and right now she’s involved in a local study regarding financial strains influence on criminal activity. When she isn’t involved in that Birdie’s always in the company of someone, having amassed a lot of friends throughout life, and she’s spirited in approaching everything.

Currently she and her sister are also planning something for their great-aunt’s upcoming birthday, wanting to create a truly magical celebration for the woman who helped their dad when he had nothing else. Their assistant in this mission is Birdie’s beloved chinchilla, [name_u]Ash[/name_u], who she’s always sending her penpal photos of as he’s basically her practise run for being a parent.
