[name_u]Kadri[/name_u] [name_m]Emre[/name_m] Perinçek (23) is [name_m]Devrim[/name_m] and Naz’s brother, who majored biology and is in medical school, currently working as a writer for a health site. His stance on [name_m]Devrim[/name_m] is very conflicted especially since [name_u]Kadri[/name_u] is a very private person who never even had a diary as a child because he knew someone would read it or use it against him. Which would definitely happen given his brother’s toxic nature and thirst for information that isn’t his business. [name_u]Kadri[/name_u] has very few social media accounts and just uses them to keep in touch with people. He’s often created some code words to use out of fear [name_m]Devrim[/name_m] could hack him or otherwise find out information from him. [name_u]Kadri[/name_u] himself is pansexual and had kept this a secret for some time and debated when to come out but just recently posted a video coming out. Ultimately the decision to do so was to ensure coming out was in his own hands and was his decision, not anyone else’s decision to out him.

He’s friends with the eldest and youngest Schuppert brother but not with [name_m]Myles[/name_m] and he won’t listen to anything [name_m]Devrim[/name_m] says about [name_m]Myles[/name_m] and [name_f]Amadea[/name_f] regardless of if it’s true or false. [name_u]Kadri[/name_u] understands the brothers of [name_m]Myles[/name_m] given his own conflict with [name_m]Devrim[/name_m] and he’s retaining their friendship as much as possible despite Devrim’s desire to “out” the eldest. [name_u]Kadri[/name_u] knows it’s not anyone else’s job to “fix” [name_m]Myles[/name_m] and admits he’s uncomfortable with Myles’ bond with the eldest Schuppert but it’s not like Myles’ elder brother is directly taking a side. [name_u]Kadri[/name_u] himself has chosen not to take a side with [name_f]Amadea[/name_f] or with [name_m]Myles[/name_m] and believes the idea of siding will just add more drama. He worries someone will go against him for being Devrim’s brother and has made it clear he’s not supportive of [name_m]Devrim[/name_m], to the point of even unfriending him. [name_u]Kadri[/name_u] is good friends with [name_f]Odette[/name_f] and [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] and is also a bonding friend with the husband of the eldest Schuppert brother so he has friends in the LGBTQUIAP+ community, which made it more comfortable when he came out as pansexual. He’s never wants [name_m]Devrim[/name_m] to know about the marriage between the two men and doesn’t want any pictures or videos with him and the couple together in fears [name_m]Devrim[/name_m] will see it.

Holden Travis [Schuppert] Guittard (22) is the eldest Schuppert brother and a good friend of Kadri . He is grateful to Kadri for not telling Devrim about his marriage to his husband and is quite sure that the only reason Devrim didn’t track him down yet is him changing his surname to his husband’s. Holden actually married his husband on a whim , and actually a bet - they were a couple for just four months at the point of the Las Vegas trip when their stereotypical " Elvis Wedding" occured. A good friend of his husband’s , a street artist known for rebelliousness, was making fun of the couple for being “too organised” and saying “I guess you wouldn’t have the balls to get married here like they do in movies”. The friend was a little drunk at that point , but Holden and his husband weren’t because they both abstain from drinking - so they took the bet, bought crazy-coloured suits the next day (literally, Holden had an unicorn suit) and booked a quick Elvis ceremony in a run-downpart of town… Only after the fact realizing that the "marriage contract " they signed there was actually legally binding in the state of Nevada and effectively made them legally married. The friend of his husband laughed at first and told them to destroy it but when they went back home they made the decision to contact the authorities in their state and legally recognise the marriage there, even signing a document stating that there wouldn’t be a devision of matrimonial property. The decision was spontanous but Holden and his husband felt that making a strong commitment in the atmosphere of total chaos was… just what theu needed. A year later they still stand by that decision and are happy to have joint finances now that Holden’s husband got his first job at a car dealership after earning his Bachelor’s in Sales. Holden is currently a law student and works a paid internship as a paralegal , so he is glad that with their joint account his finances actually go towards a future together.

Holden hasn’t told anyone about being bisexual because he was afraid how it may affect his dad - he knew Joel himself wouldn’t have anything against it per se, but their small town is nutorious for being judgmental and he worried that Joel as a single dad and former Line Cook for the navy could face social ostracism for “raising his son to be gay”. Moreover , his mom Kellie is a famous journalist and a public figure, so he didn’t want his coming out to be done by the media for him and for Kellie to face pressure to do interviews about being a parent of an LGBTQ+ child. He doesn’t realise that both Kellie and Joel would support him no matter what. When it comes to his brothers, he only reprimaneded Myles for behaving in a bad way towards his girlfriend Amadea because he was forced by Devrim to do so , but truly believes that Myles has to see the error of his ways and figure out his own mistakes to meaningfully change , so the reprimand was half-hearted. Moreover, he’s aware that Amadea has her own anger issues and Myles is not the only one at fault here - he’s glad to live his own life in Nevada at university and have the ability to be one step removed from Myles , beliving both him and Amadea are ultimately adults and the toxicity in their relationship is their or a therapist’s problem to resolve. Holden has even recommended therapy to his brother due to the gambling problem and he promised he would go but only did one appointment. When he lived at home , Holden was a role model to Myles and he would always listen to his elder brother, however now Holden is convinced that their parents are the only ones who can meaningfully influence him and therefore told their mom everything that Myles does to his girlfriend and Naz as stated in Devrim 's email. Kellie was horrified but Holden doesn’t know what occured after.

Holden also is sad for Aiden and the fact that he worries very much about Myles - much more than Holden who always had a "live and let live " attitutude. He supports Aiden 's goal to do photography and actually even asked him to photograph the sports cars that his husband’s dealership has for sale, which Aiden is quite excited about , being somewhat of a car guy unlike Holden who prefers going to the gym or doing make-up as a hobby - something his husband jokes is a delightful contrast. His husband is also a gym-goer and that’s where they met, although they have a very different style and his husband’s biggest passion is birdwatching. Their ideal life together according to his husband is you, me , a parrot , and one very spoiled kid which doesn’t sound bad at all to Holden even though such a clear vision and joint finances create a sense of urgency to finally tell Holden’s family the truth.

[name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] Guittard (24) is Holden’s brother-in-law, who was understandably pretty shocked to learn his younger brother got married on impulse. The marriage happened around the time [name_u]Holden[/name_u] was moving in with his girlfriend - who uses they/she pronouns but is fine with the terms girlfriend and partner - so he actually was a little relieved for the news, as the extended Guittard family are known for being very enthusiastic, to the point of being overwhelming for [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m], who’s the absolute opposite and likes things lowkey. Having recently graduated with a degree in speech therapy, he’s currently applying for his bachelor’s degree - not wanting to rush into his career - while working for an ethical shop thaf focuses on fundraising and recycled produce. While he’s always been the quieter brother, [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] is very dedicated to the causes he invests in emotionally, and it’s this that drew him to his partner, as they’re an environmental studies major who’s planning on specialising in renewable energy once they’ve finished their degree [having taken a gap year before applying to uni, meaning they were technically in the year below Ephraim].

It’s no secret to him that the calmness of his immediate family - it’s just him, his mom and brother, after his dad passed from an extended battle with cancer when [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] was 18 and his brother 16 - is reassuring to [name_u]Holden[/name_u], given the drama ongoing with his brothers’ relationship. Although he feels a little guilty about it, [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] has intentionally remained distant from this particular chaos, as he doesn’t want to get pulled into any more stress [especially the sort revolving around interpersonal relationships]. In high school, [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] always ended up playing peacemaker between two of his friends who despised each other at random turns - always petty drama - and he ended up emotionally burnt out trying to keep everyone happy, with limited support [as most people just wanted to keep out of things, while [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] was so close to both parties he felt unable to step back]. Surprisingly, he’s managed to remain friends with both of them, albeit was after getting a much needed apology for being pulled into their feuding time and time again.

For the surprise it brought, [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] fully supports [name_u]Holden[/name_u] and his brother’s marriage, wanting to see them achieve long-term happiness. He’s done his best to give them advise about the next steps to take - based mostly on personal experience - while not neglecting his partner in the process. The couple have recently adopted an Italian greyhound, [name_u]Arthur[/name_u], who they’re doting upon and joke about him being their trial run for parenthood; not far-fetched given how it’s obvious they adore him. Often they go on little cinema dates or have impromptu picnics, helped by the fact [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] can make brilliant savoury food - just never ask him to bake as the sweet side of cooking is absolutely beyond him - when they’re not seeing friends or hanging out with his girlfriend’s sister, who’s just preparing for college and greatly admires them, something [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] finds a bit overwhelming sometimes. The mad part of his family - as he affectionately calls them - are his dad’s two sisters, their partners, and the cousons born to their relationships; known for their loud, gregarious personalities, which is a comfort for [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] ultimately [even with his introversion], as it reminds him of his dad.

Artizar ’ [name_f]Venus[/name_f] ’ [name_f]Soledad[/name_f] Baroja (22) is Ephraim’s girlfriend, co-owner of [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] and current university student. [name_m]Born[/name_m] in San Sebastián, [name_f]Venus[/name_f] emigrated when they were 15, and retains their Spanish accent to this day, something they’re proud of thanks to the significance of this heritage in their identity and wider picture of life (specifically being part of the Basque culture, which is something they’re always willing to explain to new faces). They did contemplate returning to Spain to attend university - where they’d have free accommodation living with their grandmother - however ultimately chose to stay, thanks to their closeness with their younger sister, as well as the meaningful friendships they’d made once moving.

It surprised some people to see Venus’s’ parents so encouraging of their decision to go abroad for college - with their own parents being quite overprotective - however the Baroja’s are very much the kind of parents who want to see their children reaching their fullest potential, and treat them with a respect regarding autonomy that quite a few people have envied over time. The family are very close, even now [name_f]Venus[/name_f] is at university and their sisters’ soon to be departing, trying to meet up for a meal at least once a month, of which [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] is always given an invitation (but attendance isn’t mandatory given his current schedule).

Unlike the introverted and fairly shy [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m], [name_f]Venus[/name_f] has a distinct quiet confidence to them, usually displayed in their quick wit and the way they can take people off guard with their sharp sense of humour. They’re always willing and happy to give advice, including to [name_u]Holden[/name_u], but like their boyfriend, aren’t massively keen on being sucked into drama, having successfully avoided it throughout high school and they’ve helped keep it away from [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] too (a sign of their love, they joke). Crochet and making beaded necklaces/hair accessories are their other favourite means of relaxation, with the former having been learned from their mum who made both [name_f]Venus[/name_f] and their sister tonnes of jumpers, blankets and scarves growing up: a tradition they’ve continued by making a dog vest for [name_u]Arthur[/name_u].

Both twins love Venus’s crochet talent and learn this as well. When Venus’s sister met the twins after the emigration, she secretly had a crush on then-17-year-old [name_u]Sander[/name_u] but didn’t pursue him since he was too old for her. [name_u]Sander[/name_u] is straight and [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] is gay and both, especially the latter, were unnerved by Devrim’s outing threats against their cousin-in-law. They’ve helped protect [name_u]Holden[/name_u] and their cousin for this reason. [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] is very protective of his cousins and always feels it’s worth it just to know they’re okay. He and [name_u]Sander[/name_u] are fun and adore parties but they’re not reckless or stupid by any means. In high school, [name_u]Sander[/name_u] was known as the “rebel nerd”, an odd combo, but it worked for him. He was a genius at school and had a high GPA and IQ but also happened to do things his own way and loved brashly going against the norm. [name_u]Sander[/name_u] was also known for freely wearing socks with sandals, something he’s no longer doing, but says he doesn’t regret it. [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] was more street smart than book smart and was the cool kid, but he wasn’t a rebel or a trend-follower, he was a trendsetter. He coined the term “UROL”, pronounced “you-roll”, which meant Unspoken Rules Of Life. Some examples of UROL were: “If someone’s doing you a favour, don’t be rude to them”, “Never borrow underwear”, “Never watch a movie for a book report unless you’re in a hurry; in that case do it but Google search ‘book/movie differences’ so you can edit where necessary”, and “Don’t make eye contact with people you don’t want to talk to”.

[name_m]Jeth[/name_m] currently works for a car insurance company, which has a strange jingle and odd mascot, but he’s all for it. The twins are obsessed with cars, especially vintage foreign cars, and if they could afford it, they’d collect cars but both know it’s realistically not going to happen. Especially for [name_u]Sander[/name_u] and here’s why: [name_u]Sander[/name_u] is in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, a hit-and-run at that. On the day of the hit-and-run, [name_u]Sander[/name_u] lent his car to a friend. Unbeknownst to him, his friend let someone else drive the car for a bit. Sander’s friend knew the person he lent the car to, but [name_u]Sander[/name_u] himself did not. The person Sander’s friend lent the car to ended up running over someone and driving away from the scene, causing a hit and run. The victim survived but was paralysed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. The criminal gave the car back to Sander’s friend as if nothing happened, and then Sander’s friend gave [name_u]Sander[/name_u] his car back, having no idea about the crime. [name_u]Sander[/name_u] was pulled over by police the next time he drove the car and the police said he was suspicious of causing a hit-and-run. They examined his car and found traces of the victim’s DNA and arrested [name_u]Sander[/name_u]. Although [name_u]Sander[/name_u] pleaded not guilty, he was found guilty and sent to jail. The entire time [name_u]Sander[/name_u] had no idea what was going on, making him look bad at trial. Although he knew he wasn’t the perpetrator, the hardest part for [name_u]Sander[/name_u] was hearing the victim and family cry and yell at him for what he “did” and how badly he “ruined” the victim’s life. [name_u]Sander[/name_u] was an engineer but was fired after his arrest.

[name_m]Jeth[/name_m] knew [name_u]Sander[/name_u] is innocent and is wrongly convicted in a prison cell. He feels terrible knowing the tough prison conditions, especially on someone who is innocent. He still doesn’t understand what caused the hit and run or the person actually behind it but he’s devastated that whoever caused it is still walking free. The perpetrator paralysed an innocent pedestrian and passively allowed an innocent person to be punished. [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] relates to [name_u]Holden[/name_u] more about being glad to have a different last name than some members of his family but for a different reason. He’s glad [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] and his brother don’t share the last name of him and [name_u]Sander[/name_u] because [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] has been painted into a negative light over his brother’s conviction, which just leads to more innocent people being looked down on. [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] is grateful [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] and his brother don’t deal with that and would never wish it on anyone nor would he wish anyone would be wrongly convicted. He feels it’s against UROL to passively sit back and do nothing when bad things happen as it’s morally wrong. [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] does want the family of the victim to know that he isn’t ignoring them and he truly feels horrible about what happened and that he doesn’t sympathise with them any less just because the crime got his brother imprisoned. He can’t imagine being paralysed and feels awful that the victim is forced this way forever. [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] still finds the Guittard and Baroja families to be very supportive towards these hard times, alongside [name_u]Holden[/name_u] and his other cousins from his aunt. [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] is trying to get his enthusiastic personality back and he still has great and happy times thanks to them. [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] has a not-so-secret, he really wants a boyfriend.

[name_f]Mililani[/name_f] " [name_f]Millie[/name_f] " Kolokea Carvalho (19) is Rocio’s close friend and perhaps the person who can help [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] find romance. [name_m]Born[/name_m] and raised in Hilo, the majority of [name_u]Rocio[/name_u] and Millie’s communications were through phone calls, letters and emails growing up - then transitioning to vidchats - as the pair met when the [name_u]Gardner[/name_u] family were on vacation. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] was especially enthusiastic about spending time with [name_u]Rocio[/name_u] as, at the time, she was 9 and had a younger brother who was only 2, meaning she didn’t get the playmate her friends had in their siblings, and the fact Rocio’s five years younger than the twins meant she understood how it felt, leading the two to become very close in a short period of time. The [name_u]Gardner[/name_u] siblings and their dad went surfing with [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and her maternal uncle, something she still is involved in - as is [name_u]Rocio[/name_u] - and in turn her friend got her into music. While she’s not a vocalist, Millie’s a dedicated harp player, loving the softness of its sounds and the ethereal atmosphere it brings whenever she plays or performs. She belonged to her high school orchestra and is involved in a small string instrument quartet at college, having not wanted to become involved in a huge group in favour of forming close bonds with those she plays with.

Currently studying medical entomology, Millie’s ease around insects made her very popular, as she was always the friend to call if dealing with a bug crisis evolved. While she’s firmly anti-animal testing, Millie’s determined to encourage a greater understanding of naturally occurring toxins, and she’d like to go into anti-venom development when she’s older [so of course her family joke about her moving to Australia given its reputation for housing poisonous critters]. Given how soft spoken and gentle [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is, her degree choice takes people off guard when she first mentions it, but this only serves to amuse her, as she enjoys being a contrarian. Her mom was especially thankful of her tolerance of mud and bugs when her brother was younger, as [name_f]Millie[/name_f] would be the one to accompany him worm hunting in full effect while their mom kept an eye on the pair, but she’s terribly squeamish and couldn’t stomach the involvement her daughter was comfortable providing.

The matchmaking part isn’t necessarily that [name_f]Millie[/name_f] has experience or is majorly involved in setting people up, she just has an older cousin who’s shown the same desire to begin seeing someone. He’s pansexual and prefers dating guys, something she may have mentioned in conversation to [name_u]Rocio[/name_u] a few times, given the not so secret nature of Jeth’s hopes for a romantic partner. What [name_f]Millie[/name_f] has made clear - even if it’s solely to herself and her mom currently, as the person she trusts with her secrets the most in the family [she loves her dad but he always feels unable to not tell the truth, which is why he’s a brilliant health and safety inspector] - is that she won’t get sucked into any relationship drama that could unfold, although if a spark does develop, she’s going to lay down the law with her cousin about not hurting [name_m]Jeth[/name_m], as she knows he can be a little flighty and seem disinterested in random turns - something that’s pushed away former partners. Ainakea Polunu “Anni” Carvalho (25) is Millie’s older sister. At the same university as her sister, [name_f]Anni[/name_f] is double-majoring in communications and sociology, with a minor in history. Hoping to preserve Hawaiian culture, she has become a statewide known activist for Hawaiian sovereignty, as well as the preservation of Mauna [name_m]Kea[/name_m]. Despite being at the same university, she has not been the closest with her sister in the past, but is working on changing that. Outside of activism, [name_f]Anni[/name_f] enjoys hiking and loves nature.

He’s a lover of classic Hawaiian music and loves tranquility. As the only male of his siblings, he’s always really excited to see his cousin and considers his cousin a role model. He too wants to get closer with [name_f]Anni[/name_f] and [name_f]Millie[/name_f] but doesn’t always get the time to, due to the fact that they’re in university. It can’t help but make [name_m]Pauly[/name_m] lonely, and when he’s lonely, he’s curious. His curiosity led him to finding out what [name_f]Millie[/name_f] has in store for [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] and their cousin. He won’t tell a soul what he found because he believes [name_f]Millie[/name_f] knows best but he can’t help but have a secret obsession with Jeth’s family. Where did [name_m]Jeth[/name_m] get such a cool unique vintage car? Why is [name_u]Sander[/name_u] in prison? When did [name_u]Rocio[/name_u] become an actress and singer? Granted it’s a good thing he doesn’t look too far or he’d know about [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] and even his brother-in-law [name_u]Holden[/name_u]! He’s kept his intrigue on the down-low given that most of these people he rarely knows and some he doesn’t know at all. He knows when to back off but he isn’t the type to forget.

Still he’s being nice to his cousin and trying not to tell him anything but did one time say, “You’re such a great role model to me and I love your personality. You should find someone special.” It was awkward and they both just laughed it off but Pauly’s cousin is secretly open to finding someone, but won’t tell that in front of [name_m]Pauly[/name_m]. [name_m]Pauly[/name_m] just shrugged it off and spent the rest of the day playing billiards with his cousin, an activity they’re both great at. While [name_m]Pauly[/name_m] is hoping the best for his cousin, he’s notably bad at reading faces, so he often thinks the wrong ideas. The best face read he has is a face of having fun, which is something that always makes him happy when he sees people looking like they’re having fun.

Haikili ’ Hayes ’ Luano Carvalho (24) is the cousin in question who Millie’s considering setting up with Jeth. Currently pursuing his masters degree in Dayton, Ohio, Hayes is a biomechanics and kinesiology student, with plans on becoming a physical therapist specialising in those adjusting to prosthetic limbs. The inspiration for this is the fact a car accident took his mothers’ right foot - caused by a drunk driver when she was on her way to pick a friend up from the airport - and the process of coming to terms with her prosthetic was a difficult matter physically, prompting Hayes to decide he wanted to work on helping others facing similar situations.

In his past, Hayes didn’t date much, but when he did things didn’t last long. Partially this was because he always knew he wanted to go abroad for his studies - to get a greater grip on independence, to further spare his parents from worries or feeling they needed to keep an eye on him - and his partners thought they could talk him out of it, but as Millie pointed out, he was someone who could be indecisive and sometimes his random decisions interrupted existing plans made, that inevitably caused hurt for how it could be insensitive.

Being away from home has helped Hayes become more consistent and thoughtful where other’s are concerned, which is why Millie feels a little more confident about setting them up together. Hayes has never lost his fun-loving, friendly nature and is very eager to become involved in new pastimes, which allows him to make connections easily and quickly, as he’s very open to others’ suggestions and preferences. If pressed, he’d admit that his favourite things are skateboarding, hiking and fishing, although the social aspects are what’s most important to him, which is also clear to others in how he’s constantly in contact with his friends and family in Hawaii, who he loves dearly.

He was inspired to pursue physical therapy after he tore his ACL in high school. Before he was a promising athlete being eyed for several scholarships. During a regular season game he went for a pretty risky play but it resulted in his injury and the game needing to be called because of it. He was heartbroken to have to quit the team, but his therapist helped him to see that there was more to life than just scholarships and playing sports, and that there were other ways to enjoy the sports when you can’t play.

He went through college without scholarship just fine considering his parents are decently well off, and they’re also controlling. They were part of the reason he was so upset about losing out on his scholarships, they had put a lot of weight on his value as an athlete. While they claimed they still loved him after his injury he couldn’t help but feel as if things had changed between them. Needless to day, he was pretty excited to move out and be on his own for school.

Despite thinking he was out of his parent’s control, it turns out they still have an effect on his life. His younger sister who’s seventeen just found out she’s pregnant and intends to keep the baby despite her boyfriend declaring he wants no involvement. The Colters were furious and threw her out of their house, demanding that she not contact them unless she would agree to have an abortion. His parents couldn’t believe that their son had betrayed them, in retaliation they stopped paying for Felix’s masters. Now to make ends meet [name_m]Felix[/name_m] is working three jobs to help pay for tuition and support himself and the other 1.5 people now living in his one bedroom apartment. His sister has apologized profusely and expressed her guilt for putting them both in this situation, but [name_m]Felix[/name_m] doesn’t care. He’s just happy they’re both safe with each other.
