tw: aforementioned childbirth related death; grief; loss of a partner
[name_m]Pax[/name_m] Siaosi [name_f]Moya[/name_f] (28) is the partner of the late [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] and father of [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], who means even more than the world to him now in the wake of losing her mother. Single parenthood isn’t something he wanted, given how much the woman he loved was devoted to children, but being the best father possible to [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] - who he calls [name_f]Tassia[/name_f] affectionately - is paramount to [name_m]Pax[/name_m]. He’s also continued to maintain and upkeep the garden [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] spent so much time lovingly crafting since her death, although at first [name_m]Pax[/name_m] actually contemplated getting rid of it, as those kinds of reminders of [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] were painful and traumatic.
Working in the sports entertainment world, [name_m]Pax[/name_m] actually is involved in documentary production opposed to playing. He was a talented swimmer throughout his high school years and won a scholarship on these merits, but filmography has been his truest passion. For as long as his parents and older sister can remember, [name_m]Pax[/name_m] was borrowing their video camera to document all sorts of things - family gatherings, critters in the garden, his own stories [acted out by toys] - and this love carried into adulthood. [name_m]Pax[/name_m] has only just returned to work though, following Gwen’s passing, and admits the adjustment is still uncanny without having her around to discuss projects with, even though he’s determined to regain some notmality in life.
A third generation Samoan-American, [name_m]Pax[/name_m] has also made plans to visit his extended family with [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] at some point. Throughout his own childhood he loved visiting the island, especially to swim, and he knows his relatives want to meet his daughter too, a promise he’s determined to keep, as [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] was determined it would happen before her untimely passing; having been to [name_f]Samoa[/name_f] numerous times with [name_m]Pax[/name_m] throughout their relationship.
It doesn’t mean he’s any less invested in keeping [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] close with the [name_f]Melrose[/name_f] family, especially given his friendship with [name_m]Alec[/name_m] and [name_m]Vero[/name_m], who’ve been the major source of support through this difficult time, along with Paxs’ big sister, who’s mother to Natalia’s [current] only cousin. He’s considerate to see them often, without overstepping any boundaries or intruding on the space they need to process Gwen’s loss. When he feels less consumed by grief, [name_m]Pax[/name_m] hopes to make a celebration of life short film for [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], however as his mother insists, he’s taking things one step at a time.

Warning for aforementioned grief and fast fashion.
[name_f]Clove[/name_f] [name_f]Mele[/name_f] [name_f]Moya[/name_f] (32) is Pax’s sister, a single mother herself, though this was her choice. [name_f]Via[/name_f] IVF, she’s conceived her first child, and she’s happy this went smoothly. She’ll never compare this experience with Pax’s for obvious reasons but she’s willing to give advice for fellow single parents when they ask. Her child is fully Samoan though she’s enjoyed Natalia’s multicultural upbringing so far and wants her to love both sides of herself. Clove’s motherhood wasn’t what she expected but wasn’t something she wanted to miss out on. She’s determined to let her and [name_m]Pax[/name_m] become closer as family and as parents, even in untraditional ways. It’s almost certain [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] will have an excellent closeness with her cousin. [name_f]Clove[/name_f] likes that the family isn’t trying to rush Natalia’s life when she’s just a baby. [name_f]Clove[/name_f] sometimes rushed parts of her life but it was for the best, especially being a math prodigy as a child, though she only did what she was comfortable with. She doesn’t care for fame or being an influencer so that was never a part of her life that she wanted posted online for everyone to see. Admittedly she’s done some bad moves growing up, like trusting her friends too much. She learned the hard way that there’s some things one truly doesn’t share with anyone. Some were cringey, like telling a friend her Facebook password. And that friend logging on Clove’s account to say she’s the best friend [name_f]Clove[/name_f] has and that crocs are the best shoe ever (Clove hates crocs). But some were more embarrassing like [name_f]Clove[/name_f] telling a friend how much she hates her teacher, though not as unreasonable as password revealing. When [name_f]Clove[/name_f] and that friend were in a group project and [name_f]Clove[/name_f] rightfully complained her friend did nothing, her friend ratted to the teacher that [name_f]Clove[/name_f] never liked her anyway.
Most of her friends are still on good terms with her, other than one who did end up going the influencer route. She is a beauty vlogger but never features anyone in her videos with less than 1m subscribers. She’s also supportive of fast fashion brands if they look good without paying attention to the negative impacts of it. [name_f]Clove[/name_f] is glad this woman has no partner or kids, but feels she’s in her own world and ignored everyone before her influencer life. Oh well, that’s nothing [name_f]Clove[/name_f] cares about. She genuinely loves Pax’s true talents in videography and that he does it for passion rather than fame or money. [name_f]Clove[/name_f] thinks [name_m]Pax[/name_m] is awesome and knows full-well he’d never close anyone off, instead being more open. [name_f]Clove[/name_f] genuinely misses [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] and she’s into books as well, being the narrator for many books-on-tape. [name_f]Clove[/name_f] is very real about how she narrates, making her audio understandable but never sounding monotone with her words. She reads a lot and never gets tired of it. She’s helped [name_m]Pax[/name_m] in trying to get back to work though she’s never made his decisions become her decisions, giving him full rights to choose. Clove’s biggest fear growing up was making a decision that people already told her not to do. Yet despite some of her past mistakes with over sharing, she has more things she didn’t do and wished she did than vice-versa. While she’s not a hyper-protective older sister, she’s gotten a sense of happiness when [name_m]Pax[/name_m] doesn’t make a bad mistake she’s made. [name_f]Clove[/name_f] loves swimming at night and in the early morning. She loves the ocean as well something she’s felt very accustomed to in her Samoan background, and she could spend all day at the beach.

cw: aforementioned grief
Litala " [name_f]Ally[/name_f] " [name_f]Suki[/name_f] [name_f]Moya[/name_f] (4) is Clove’s daughter, niece to [name_m]Pax[/name_m] and cousin to [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], with the similarities in their names being something the older girl absolutely loves. Something her grandparents already find endearing is that Ally’s swearing she’ll be a good protector to [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] in a mirror of how her mom looks out for her uncle, and this sense of justness is even present in her friendships. [name_f]Ally[/name_f] cannot stand to see anyone left out at school and she’s always trying to include everyone, even if this means her attention span isn’t always perfect as she’s observing her classmates [not that her teachers hold it against her].
Being so young means the sadness experienced across her family is another unknown. More of Ally’s grief stems from seeing how her loved one’s are impacted, as her memories of [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] are a haze. She’s met members of the [name_f]Melrose[/name_f] family and likes them a lot, especially [name_f]Viv[/name_f] thanks to her energy, and she’s also usually the person who plays with [name_f]Ally[/name_f] while the others are discussing serious things. In some ways it’s arguable that [name_f]Ally[/name_f] has helped [name_f]Viv[/name_f] reconcile with how much [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] reminds her of [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], as the distraction and new sense of wonder [name_f]Ally[/name_f] has for the world made the memories less painful.

[name_f]Marysol[/name_f] [name_f]Elize[/name_f] Vasquez-Quaily, nee Vasquez (33) is Ally’s unofficial godmother and best friend of [name_f]Clove[/name_f], who’s already one of the little girl’s biggest cheerleaders. Working as a plus sized model means [name_f]Marysol[/name_f] is someone who always seems totally confident and at ease in her own skin, but she wasn’t always this way, and it’s why Ally’s kindness is so important to her.
When she was in school, she was teased mercilessly by some male classmates, who talked about her weight all the time, acting as if it made her pitiful at best. This crushed Marysols’ self-esteem and for several years she wore only the baggiest, most covering clothing to prevent people mocking her more. She didn’t go to any dances until her senior year, which is when she’d befriended [name_f]Clove[/name_f] and their other high school group, who finally prompted [name_f]Marysol[/name_f] to enjoy herself, and that set her on the path towards becoming a model, as she wanted to be happy in her own skin.
Because she’s travelling so much at the moment, and has a lot of work commitments that eat into her time for friends and family, [name_f]Marysol[/name_f] and her husband have held off on having children. They met on a flight funnily enough, when it was delayed and there were only a handful of passengers on board, who’ve all maintained friendships to this day because of the laughs and bonding they shared while waiting around. It’s not like [name_f]Ally[/name_f] complains [name_f]Marysol[/name_f] is childfree at the moment though - as it means more time, games and spoiling for her!
