Although Leelasâ father loves her in his own way, his resentment towards her mother [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] has overriden this in the past, notably at itâs worst when he pushed a fight at Leelasâ birthday to make her mom look bad. If it hurt [name_f]Lenore[/name_f], Leelasâ father felt it was justified.
[name_f][/name_f]Worse still, this ended up dragging Juliannesâ son [name_m]Elysian[/name_m] into the whole mess, and he of course viewed [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] as a less than stellar person because his then-future-stepdad was putting in real effort to bond with him. [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] herself admits there was probably some sincerity in this [name_f][/name_f]- he is genuine about how much [name_f]Leela[/name_f] loves birds, especially penguins [name_f][/name_f]- but also was validated by gathering another soldier against his ex.
[name_f][/name_f]Thankfully, [name_f]Leela[/name_f] herself has been protected from the most complex parts of this behaviour. Her maternal family are especially diligent in ensuring no more inappropriate comments or portrayals of her mom are being broadcast around her, because there could have been serious problems should Leelasâ father have kept trying to insinuate she should reject [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] for [name_f]Julianne[/name_f].

In spite of this happening, [name_m]Nico[/name_m] is a very upbeat little boy already, and his name has clearly influenced him, as his favourite things are big cats! [name_m]Elysian[/name_m] is always drawing him pictures, and [name_f]Leela[/name_f] and her mother gifted him a new stuffed snow leopard for [name_m]Christmas[/name_m], whoâs been named Snowshoe.
[name_f][/name_f]It was Nicosâ big brother who caused the end of the engagement between [name_f]Julie[/name_f] and Mr. [name_m]Turner[/name_m]. After [name_m]Elysian[/name_m] began dating his girlfriend [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], [name_f]Julie[/name_f] became uncomfortable with how her then-fiancĂ© seemed so insisted on asking questions about the young couple, and it slowly dawned on her that while he wasnât treating her as he did [name_f]Lenore[/name_f], he thought it would be fine to tell [name_m]Elysian[/name_m] that [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] was totally deserving of that behaviour if she âdisappointedâ him.
[name_f][/name_f]When [name_m]Elysian[/name_m] confided in his mother that things had taken an uncomfortable turn, the relationship between Nicosâ parents imploded, as [name_f]Julie[/name_f] was furious on a lot of levels, but first and foremost it was that he thought it was okay to encourage toxic and unhealthy behaviour in her children. [name_m]Nico[/name_m] does still see his dad, like [name_f]Leela[/name_f], but things are very cold between his parents, and [name_m]Elysian[/name_m] also prefers to avoid Mr. [name_m]Turner[/name_m] now all has come out in the wash.

She however has less and less time for it because she wants to go into Pre-Med and then Medical School, her ambition stemming from the deep desire to help people and from the fact that her older sister became a wheelchair user after a spinal chord injury.

TW: birth complications leading to physical disability
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Mounier, nee [name_m]Wallace[/name_m] (54) is Sophiesâ mother, who finds her daughters love of art and future plans inspiring, and her rejection of dating pretty amusing. This is because [name_f]Jane[/name_f] herself was basically the same until she met Sophiesâ dad. Through her teens her friends were always asking why [name_f]Jane[/name_f] didnât seem to care about meeting cute guys, but it just didnât appeal to her.
[name_f][/name_f]Neither of her siblings were that dating crazy either, and all 3 of them now have families and are happy with their partners, so [name_f]Jane[/name_f] feels there shouldnât be a timer set on romance. At the time [name_f]Jane[/name_f] met her husband, she was pretty settled in her career as a forensic accountant, something sheâs still doing. Having always been very talented at maths, she wanted to put her degree towards something important, and usually this means [name_f]Jane[/name_f] helps in divorces where assets are being treated unfairly or illegally by one party.
[name_f][/name_f]It was a complication during childbirth that led to Janesâ older daughter becoming a wheelchair user, something that was assessed as she grew up and it became apparent what her needs were. This did concern [name_f]Jane[/name_f] a lot about having a second child, however she and her husband ultimately decided their family was incomplete, and Janesâ labour with [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] was without any issues thankfully.

[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] has a spinal chord injury and has astigmatism [name_f][/name_f], hence shje has to wear glasses. She knows that [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] wants to become a doctor due to her disability and sometimes feels guilty about it, feeling that [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] 's childhood with a disabled sister caused trauma for her and she was taught to be selfless and independent more than she should have at that age. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] is glad that [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] has her own dog, [name_m]Diesel[/name_m] isnât a trained support dog because [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] 's wheelchair is electric and she is convinced that she can manage public transportation by herself. Sheâs proud of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] 's accomplishements, although she herself hasnât had any job yet and sometimes feels inferior in that sense. [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is a mutual friend of both [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and [name_f]Kiara[/name_f], with the latter really liking the high quality frozen yoghurts and wheelchair accesibility of the establishment.

She admires [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] being independent on public transit and not feeling dependent and deadweighted. Unlike her aunt [name_f]Jane[/name_f], she loves little romance charms like hearts, chocolates, and definitely roses. Not in a relationship by any means though she thinks her older brother likes [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]. She loves seeing her family succeed but she knows her brother thankfully isnât some âsaviorâ to cancel out her exâs disdain. Thereâs a lot of projects she plans on doing in her career and also enjoys hobbies with [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] too.

Fredâs friend who is his sidekick has encountered a guy at the club who reportedly went there just to drink but once a girl approached him to flirt he pretended to be a strangerâs male friend just to get away from her and told him a whole story about how he cannot stop drinking because he regrets abandoning his pregnant girlfriend [name_f][/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f], just because of fear and trauma that he faced in the foster system making him believe that he canât ever be a good father. [name_m]Fred[/name_m] knows that his friend is always one to help others, even strangers, so he encouraged the guy to not drink anymore and they took a taxi to [name_m]Fred[/name_m] 's man cave where the two played the Pokeomon Trading [name_m]Card[/name_m] Game all day and discussed sports together [name_f][/name_f], as well as brainstromed ideas about how their new acquaintance could get [name_f]Clara[/name_f] back

She finds both of them to be very awesome people and wonât stand for people making either of them look bad. Rellâs a former girlfriend of that flirty girl who hit on Fredâs pal. [name_f]Rell[/name_f] was friends with her for some time before she asked [name_f]Rell[/name_f] out. Secretly, [name_f]Rell[/name_f] thought dating her would ruin the friendship but felt rejecting her would ruin it more. Admittedly, [name_f]Rell[/name_f] got more out of the relationship than she thought, and never felt like she was forced to just do it. But it flaked out pretty easily. [name_f]Rell[/name_f] gravitates toward women more whereas her former friend gravitated towards males more. However [name_f]Rell[/name_f] makes it clear sheâs fine if her exes pursue other peopleâŠthatâs not her business anyway. Sometimes she thinks her ex-girlfriend can be too overbearing, though granted, sheâs not a terrible person. [name_f]Rell[/name_f] is childfree, as her mother [name_f]Neja[/name_f] knows, and sheâs still happy with her cousins, regardless of whether they have kids. Like her cousin [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Rell[/name_f] thinks itâs a boy although sheâs okay with being wrong. In her early adulthood, she used to actually be jealous in a sense when people were having babies and she wasnât. It wasnât that she would do anything mean to those people or try to get pregnant herself. [name_f]Rell[/name_f] was just insecure and in a place where she wasnât always happy, and was worried deep down that maybe people with kids were happier. It wasnât going to change her view and she knew everyone was different, she just cared more about the happiness aspect. Rellâs a much happier person now, though she feels bad that a lot of people are much less happy. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] on the other side is pregnant but unhappy, though she thankfully has [name_f]Erin[/name_f] and now [name_f]Rell[/name_f] on her side. It wasnât surprising [name_f]Rell[/name_f] would want to hear Claraâs side, seeing her mother helps [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. It just felt like an interesting way to process things when [name_f]Rell[/name_f] herself couldnât relate. She senses [name_m]Fred[/name_m] is in contact with Claraâs baby daddy, who, as [name_f]Rell[/name_f] has realised from [name_f]Clara[/name_f], was also her husband. [name_f]Rell[/name_f] actually found this out in a crazy way given her job at the courthouse â she was the official who allowed their annulment. While sheâs kept this detail confidential, she knew firsthand that the two werenât really in love and felt their marriage wasnât authentic. Still, sheâs open to seeing how [name_m]Fred[/name_m] would get his acquaintance back; as an open parent for Claraâs baby, with a lot of effort to proveâŠeven if his chances are back at square one.

[name_m]RĂŒdiger[/name_m] " [name_m]Rudy[/name_m] " [name_m]Fox[/name_m] van Horn (nb) is Erinsâ son, born [name_m]January[/name_m] 12th, and although heâs just a day old, heâs made quite the impact already. Labour went well for his mom [although sheâs screamed herself hoarse], at a home birth organised by the hospital. [name_f]Erin[/name_f] and her husband opted for this as they donât live somewhere practical for rushing around, and wanted to remove stress from the situation for the baby and hersâ well-being.
[name_f][/name_f]Named in honour of his paternal heritage, Rudysâ middle name was a bit of a late minute pick, suggested by his dad, who wanted [name_f]Erin[/name_f] fully incorporated in their sonâs identity. After all, as he pointed out, sheâs doing the hardest work.
[name_f][/name_f]Thereâs further excitement now the birth has happened due to the fact Lolasâ baby is also due this year [name_f][/name_f]- specifically late [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- early [name_f]June[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- meaning that Rudyâs going to have a playmate pretty soon in his life. For his parents, it feels like thereâs completion in their lives now, and theyâre just enjoying the fact their child is here, safe and sound.

[name_f]Monique[/name_f] now does a lot of clubbing and partying after breaking up with [name_f]Rell[/name_f] but she got used to rejection on such a regular basis that it no longer affects her and she moves on to the next person, so being ignored by [name_m]Fred[/name_m] 's pal didnât really make her sad. What made her a little annoyed is the fact that [name_m]Christian[/name_m] has been so stressed about becoming a father that he stopped going to office parties, pizza Thursdays or even smoke breaks [name_f][/name_f], becoming " too serious " in [name_f]Monique[/name_f] 's eyes. While the work culture largely transforms to work from home and doing the bare minimum of interraxtion in the office, [name_f]Monique[/name_f] doesnât agree with it and loves the social aspect of working at a publisher as a children 's book illustrator [name_f][/name_f], even though her interests are very " adult " and she often reads steamy romance books even at work, being glad that they donât have illustrations.[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Monique[/name_f] 's roomates sometimes get angry over her party lifestyle [name_f][/name_f], thatâs why she rarely ever makes house parties anymore and prefers clubs. [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Christian[/name_m] tries to tell her that wanting a guy to buy you a drink and then ghosting him after [name_f][/name_f] a week of talking isnât going to get her a guy who would want [name_f]Monique[/name_f] to move in with him, but sheâs having none of that, after all, it worked in college, right?
