Creative ways to get nn Bertie?

I love [name_u]Bertie[/name_u] as a nickname, but it seems like all the names ending in -bert or -burt are just awful ([name_m]Albert[/name_m] is okay, but not my favorite)! [name_m]Bertrand[/name_m]/Bertrum is a bit too “landed gentry” for me. Can anyone help me think creatively about a way to get [name_u]Bertie[/name_u] as a nickname?

Can’t wait to hear what you imaginative folks come up with!

[name_m]Bernard[/name_m]
[name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Herbert[/name_m]

That’s all I can think of…

I kind of like [name_m]Bertram[/name_m] [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] meaning, sweet nickname, could also use Bam for a teen or [name_u]Berry[/name_u] for chubby baby.

[name_m]Norbert[/name_m] has [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] cred. And [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] is a nice suggestion, also with added HP association…
Had a look around, do any of these appeal to you?
[name_m]Aubert[/name_m]
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u]
[name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] / Barthélémy / [name_m]Bartosz[/name_m]
[name_m]Bernat[/name_m]
[name_m]Brandt[/name_m]
[name_m]Braxton[/name_m]
[name_m]Brenton[/name_m]
[name_f]Bronte[/name_f] (could totally work for a boy!)
[name_m]Burton[/name_m]
[name_m]Colbert[/name_m]
[name_m]Hubert[/name_m]
Isbert
[name_m]Lambert[/name_m]
[name_m]Osbert[/name_m]
Rambert
[name_m]Umberto[/name_m]
Wybert

[name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] and [name_m]Aubert[/name_m] are my favourites, and I really quite like Rambert. It’s basically [name_m]Bertram[/name_m] with a twist, has less negative associations. And the ‘bright raven’ meaning is still fabulous!

[name_m]Robert[/name_m] seems the safest option, maybe [name_m]Bertol[/name_m], [name_m]Burton[/name_m], [name_m]Bogart[/name_m]?

Thanks for the help, everyone! I might be coming around to [name_m]Bertram[/name_m] after all. [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce [name_m]Aubert[/name_m]? Aw-bert or Oh-bert?

Technically, [name_m]Aubert[/name_m] is pronounced with a silent T, aw-BEHR I think I’ll go with? (someone correct me if I’m butchering it!) It’s a [name_m]French[/name_m] variation of [name_m]Albert[/name_m] that I was a little unsure about including. Listen here –> link

I think [name_m]Bertram[/name_m] grows on you, but he needs a bit of time. I’m guessing he’ll have his comeback in name nerd circles in a few years, we just need to get used to him first… ^^
Considering how cute [name_u]Bertie[/name_u] is, there are surprisingly few sweet names you could use to get the nickname…

[name_m]Burnett[/name_m]
Holburt
[name_m]Burkett[/name_m]/[name_m]Birkett[/name_m]
[name_u]Auburn[/name_u]

In [name_m]French[/name_m] it sounds like ‘oh-bear’. There’s a American actress with the surname [name_m]Aubert[/name_m] and it’s pronounced ‘aw-bert’
