@_thelittlefairywren [name_m]Hi[/name_m]! So you have so many beautiful suggestions! I wanted to say that I agree with the previous posters who said to use [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] as the full name. I LOVE [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. If that’s the name you love the most, go for it. I don’t think you really need a formal name unless you want one. I think it works beautifully on its own. I personally have a formal name and a nickname, and I like having the choice of what I want to use at any given time. (i.e. I use my nickname with family and friends and my full name professionally.)
But I am leaning that many of us (myself included) place so much emphasis on having a formal, “professional” name. And for who? For me, I prefer [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] over [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] over [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_u]Josie[/name_u] over [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], etc. If you don’t find a formal name you love more than just [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], go with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]! It’s one that I would definitely use myself.
I’m sorry that I don’t have any suggestions off the top of my head that haven’t already been mentioned, but I do really like [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] for you!
@namenerddoglover [name_m]Hi[/name_m]! You’re definitely right - nicknames as full names are very much becoming more popular. And I do understand it to some degree - why officially label a child a name you never intend to use? I completely get why that works for some. In our case, we love long, extra flowy girls names that have sweet, southern-vibe nicknames, and although I love [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] as a whole, it would be completely out of place next to our other favourite names. [name_m]Hence[/name_m] my little mission to find a longer name that suits. I do love [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] as an option. I like [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], but it always feels a bit too frilly! [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] has a much nicer balance to how it both sounds and feels.
@VEL [name_f]Magenta[/name_f] is a great left-field option! I’ve not heard it used as a name before.
@LibelluleClaire / @Greyblue How funny! I was suggesting [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] to hubby the other day, and totally did not connect the dots to [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], but what a perfect suggestion! Thank you!
@Shits_Giggles [name_f]Megaera[/name_f] is so pretty and very much up our alley stylistically, but the meaning is so unfortunate…
For everyone you suggestions variations of [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], we had [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] on our list for ages! But hubby announced to me just the other day that he’s gone of it. Sad times, because it’s such a great unisex name.
@_thelittlefairywren I completely understand the hesitation to use [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] as the full name when it doesn’t go with your other favorites. You want some sort of balance between names. Maybe [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is just extra special to me because I considered using it as an honor at one time.
I hope you find the perfect way to use [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]!
Any M first with [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], or maybe even [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] for the middle, i.e. [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
