[name_m]New[/name_m] boyfriend = new name style to meld with…
His favorite #1 girl name is [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hilda[/name_f]… Seriously!!!
He likes it because it’s “strong and unique.”
I like names that are frilly and flowy like [name_f]Cressida[/name_f], [name_f]Amarantha[/name_f], [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f], [name_f]Evangelina[/name_f]…
[name_f]Hilda[/name_f] is adorable, and I think it’s a nice blend of your styles. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is also very pretty, but “strong” sounding too.
I love [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f]! And [name_f]Hilda[/name_f] is a cute nn.
I’m not super keen on [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] myself but can definitely see how it works well as a sister set. I think [name_f]Amarantha[/name_f] and [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f] would work nicely too.
My first thoughts on ‘combining’ [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f] & [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] were of old Norse/Germanic types that give that strong and unique type feel but still have a touch of frill, such as Brynja, [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f], Svanhild, Ylva, [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f]/a, Freyja, Embla, [name_f]Solveig[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], Runa, [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Romilda[/name_f], [name_f]Sigrid[/name_f], [name_u]Dagny[/name_u] & [name_f]Odilia[/name_f].
I must say I find [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f] quite awesome - there’s a lovely mixture of delicacy and strength there. I really like @sunniva’s suggestions for you. Here are some more suggestions of names that have [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f]'s Medieval Germanic power but are a little less unwieldy and more elegant:
What about [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hilda[/name_f]? [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] means mighty in battle so that’s strong and badass. And imo, it’s pretty similar in style with [name_f]Cressida[/name_f].
Strong and frilly:
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_f]Genoveva[/name_f] - [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] in a less popular variant.
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Madelief[/name_f]
[name_f]Ambrosia[/name_f]
[name_f]Crescentia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Demetria[/name_f]
Thank you, everyone! Some great ideas here. I especially love the suggestions of the Medieval Germanic power type stuff and the descriptor of “strong and frilly.” I think that’s what we’re going for here lol. But, I’m sure you all can understand how hard it is for me to give up my favorite names/style…
I have been crushing on [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] lately! And I’ve always loved [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]…
The origin of Quiteria is mysterious - it was the name of a 5th century martyr, and may derive from Kythereia (an epithet of [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]) or from the Latin quietus, “calm”. The [name_m]French[/name_m] form is Quitterie (I know one!).
By the way, I would be interested to hear what compromises you come up with!
