I pretty much had my heart set on the name [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] if my bump is a girl, however yesterday I find out that my [name]MIL[/name]'s middle name is [name]Julie[/name]. She is a vile woman who hates me and has foolishly attempted to break up my (happy) marriage with her son, so the idea of her thinking that in anyway our daughter is named after her is unthinkable! Bizarrely my husband had not realised the connection.
So, do you think [name]Julie[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] are too close in this circumstance?
Thanks
Well… you could just use the name that you like and let her think what she wants. Perhaps, if she thinks you’ve honored her, it will create an implied sense of connection to her which could be a step towards helping her to warm up to you.
However, if [name]Juliet[/name] is no longer an option, here are some other names that have a similar feel as [name]Juliet[/name] that sound nice with your selected middle name:
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Althea[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
or… you could throw her off by tossing up the spelling of [name]Juliet[/name]:
Giuliette [name]Elizabeth[/name]
Joliet [name]Elizabeth[/name]
Because its her middle name, I don’t think many would make the connection. However, if I were in the same circumstance I know I wouldn’t be able to use it because it would bother me even if I tried to convince myself that it doesn’t.
If you can look past the association then you should use it. It’s a beautiful name!
I think its close enough that it would be easy for her to say her granddaughter is named after her. If she does, and that is something that is going to bother you and you could never get over it, then I would pick a different name.
I think that it is easy enough to make the connection. If she does and it would bother you I wouldn’t use it but that’s me! If you are having doubts it’s might not be the right name.
