These are the girls names my husband & I currently agree on liking. (Not in any particular order).
I’d love to hear your opinions or experiences with any of these names. We live in [name_u]California[/name_u], are still TTC. This would be the first baby, so no siblings. [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] is a likely MN as an honor name. Open to suggestions!!! Our last name sounds like [name_m]Hurley[/name_m]. Thank you so much!
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is adorable, but very popular ATM.
I really like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]; it’s common but it has tons of nicknames (of course, you or she might have an issue with that.)
I’m not personally a fan of [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]- it’s extremely common, at least where I live.
Adorable, but very simple. If you want a nickname you’re pretty much limited to [name_f]Janie[/name_f].
Very cute, but [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] and [name_f]Tori[/name_f] aren’t [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
Seems very dated. Always reminds me of the [name_m]Olsen[/name_m] twins. Most people my age (I’m in high school) would also associate that name with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_m]Olsen[/name_m], but perhaps when she grows up it’ll be less common.
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] is a much better alternative to [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] (which is my name!) since it’s short and far less common. I really like it.
Also simple; you could call her [name_f]Ally[/name_f] if you’re interested in nicknames but again that’s pretty much the best you can do.
Honestly, I find your list boring. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are probably my favorites but with the middle name being a bit old school, I wouldn’t go with something so common or simple as a first. But what really matters is what you can be happy and love.
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] - a name with a nice sound and a nice meaning - I’ve just met quite a lot of them almost lost any wow factor for me
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - classic and beautiful - I love the flow of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and the fact it has so many nicknames ([name_u]Billie[/name_u], [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Beth[/name_f] being my faves)
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] - sweet and simple yet mature
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] - [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is growing on me - I like the shortness and the sort of familiar yet currently underused feel to it - plus it has literary connections which is also a bonus to me
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - I don’t mind [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. It’s a bit harsh in sound for my tastes, but I do know a very sweet kid called [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] who it suits perfectly
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and I like [name_f]Kate[/name_f] but together, I’m not sure.
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] - I prefer the [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] spelling but [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] is pretty too. I love the nickname [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! So cute yet strong and versatile
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]- sweet name, and pretty sound but so overused at this point
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]- I feel like the only person who doesn’t like this name. It was the most popular middle name, and one of the most popular first names for girls in my graduating class, and I swear almost all of my friends have it as a middle name. I’m just tired of it at this point, although I like some of the variations
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]- also very popular for girls my age, and I find it boring
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]- this name has grown on me significantly over the last few years! I used to find her plain but now I appreciate the simple classiness [name_f]Jane[/name_f] has
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]- I’m neutral on this name. I adore the nickname [name_f]Ria[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]- where I’m from, double names are unheard of, so this sounds a bit off to me. I’m not a fan of the names individually, however together they have more spunk
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]- I love this spelling, it’s definitely my favorite. [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] is an adorable nickname
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]- sweet and strong.
My favorites are [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]!
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would get my vote. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], the nicknames are great! [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is overused [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. The rest are all good choices too!
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] - I have heard this name a lot and it is lost some of its shine for me. But it is a pretty name.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - It’s a beautiful, classic name, but if your last name sounds like [name_m]Hurley[/name_m], I would skip it on account of the actress.
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] - [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_m]Hurley[/name_m] sounds a bit cutesy
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] - This name is so under appreciated. I would love to meet a young [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - This name is elegant. I love it.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and I like double names, but I would go with something a little fresher: [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] - see [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] - This is a pretty name. You can’t go wrong with an [name_f]Alice[/name_f].
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] - I know most people aren’t big fans because of popularity, but I still like this name. I think it’s so soft and sweet.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - I really like how many possible nicknames there are for this, but that might not be something you’re into. I still think it’s a classic and pretty name.
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] - I’ve been really liking [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] lately. I think its lovely.
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I know it’s pretty common (especially as a middle) but I dont know any [name_f]Janes[/name_f] in real life. I think it’s simple in a beautiful way.
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - not a big fan of this one. I grew up with a lot of Victorias. I see the appeal of it though, and you should use it if you love it. I know [name_u]Vic[/name_u] & [name_f]Tori[/name_f] are the most common nicknames, but I like [name_f]Via[/name_f].
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is okay. I dont like them together though. All I think of is the [name_m]Olsen[/name_m] twins, which isn’t a bad thing, but I think the name might always be associated with her.
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] - another one I dont like, because I grew up with so many. I think it is a pretty name, though. I prefer the [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] spelling (and prefer nn [name_f]Belle[/name_f] to [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]!)
To answer your question about [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f], I grew up with a lot (so now in their twenties), but I also have two younger cousins (5 & 9) with the name and my nieces best friend (12 yo) is named [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], I also know someone who recently had a baby with the name. so I think its popular amongst a lot of age groups.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] - I really like [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I think its soft and sweet, and I like any name with a good literary connection. I know a lot of people mention the nickname [name_u]Allie[/name_u], but I’ve never known an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] who goes by that, so if you dont want a nickname there doesnt need to be one!
Overall, you have a very nice list. I like [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] best. I think all of them are pretty, sweet, and spunky all wrapped into one. I also think they all go nicely with your last name!
Good luck!
I like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. It’s a classic. It could also be spelled [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and you could try to keep the “kinda” full name abbreviating it to [name_f]Lisbeth[/name_f], otherwise I like [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_f]Lise[/name_f] or Lisi ([name_u]Lee[/name_u] see.)
I chose [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] for the name of my daughter almost 40 years ago; she became a [name_f]Liz[/name_f] or [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f]. For a middle name I wanted to honor two great grandmothers; one was [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and the other [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. I decided on the middle name Mairin, which is an Irish form of [name_f]Maureen[/name_f], meaning “[name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_f]Mary[/name_f].”
I think [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] go best with [name_f]Maureen[/name_f]. My favorite is [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and then [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]!
My favorite for you is [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! I think it works beautifully with your last name and your chosen middle. I think [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] also work quite nicely.
