Crushing on Freddie

I am majorly crushing on the name [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] these last few days! I love that it’s uncommon (in the US at least) but still familiar.

Do you think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] sound good together as siblings?

Which sounds better for a middle: [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] or [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]?

Fyi I don’t really love the full name [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. If you have a good option for a longer version or can convince me to love [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], I’m all ears haha. I’m personally not opposed to using just [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] but I’m curious what others think.

I think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] sound great together! I prefer [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]

There is also [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]

I really want to like [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] because my late Father’s name was [name_m]William[/name_m] so it’d be a cool tribute in the first name, but so far I can’t get into it! I think the show with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] and the guy in the dog suit didn’t help :joy:

Ada & [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] are truly gorgeous together!
Personally I do prefer [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] but I think [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] fits perfectly here!
I like [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] but only because I prefer [name_u]James[/name_u] to [name_m]William[/name_m], both flow nicely.

@Kipperbo1 [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] is gorgeous, always reminds me of Dr. Who!

Yay!! I’m so happy to see some love for [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]!

@OpheliaFlora I’ve never seen Dr Who but it’s good to know there are some more positive [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] associations out there! Maybe if I can find a few more positive associations to outweigh the guy in a dog suit I might feel differently towards it haha

I love the set! I like [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]. I think [name_u]James[/name_u] is like the [name_f]Rose[/name_f] of boy middle names. It sounds good with everything!

Ada and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] are good together. [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]. [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_u]Mercury[/name_u] is my first thought.

I love [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] together! There’s something really appealing about this pairing… I can’t put my finger on it but they just work beautifully together. Perhaps it’s their vintage vibe and the combination of the sophisticated Ada with the cheeky Freddie. It really is such a sweet name and can absolutely work on it’s own in my opinion (or you may like [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] or [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]). [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] are both great but I probably prefer the latter.

I’ve actually been thinking outside the box as my partner doesn’t seem to like any of my suggestions for this baby and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is one I want to propose to him. I’ve always loved it, even if it’s perhaps a little more common than I’d like (here in Australia). In saying that, I don’t actually think [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]/Freddie is in the top 100 so I suppose it isn’t too popular. I just happen to know one or two little boys with the name.

Yes!

[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] gets my vote, but they both work well.

I love [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]! It sounds amazing alongside [name_f]Ada[/name_f], as well. It’s sweet and simple but established enough to stand alone as a full name.

Freddie [name_u]James[/name_u] is incredibly handsome.

I only see it as nickname potential.

Any of these these work for you?

Totally get it! I know a lot of people prefer a fuller name with a nickname.

I think what makes it hard is that I prefer shorter first names. Partly because our last name is long  but that said, I don’t hate [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] but I’d be bummed if he got called [name_m]Al[/name_m] or [name_u]Alfie[/name_u]. [name_m]Fredrik[/name_m]/Fedric are a little more appealing since they’re shorter than full on [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]! Thanks for the suggestions! Definitely something to think about and the best list of options I’ve found!

Yay! I hope your partner likes [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]! I haven’t pitched it to my DH yet. I’m a little nervous to because I feel like this is the first boy name I’ve actually loved!

I know it’s pretty popular in the UK! I definitely think it’s ready for a revival here in the states!

I agree! [name_u]James[/name_u] is such a good mn! It’s my DH’s mn and my father-in-law’s first name so it’s definitely a solid choice!

I struggled with this too, adored [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] but didn’t love any longer alternatives. Honestly though, [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is a wonderful name all on its own, and I think it sounds fabulous with [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. I slightly prefer [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m].
